Rain Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rain Thursday

Postby Othersharon » Thu May 05, 2016 8:29 am

Starting to see a pattern with these mornings? :D Rain seems to be setting in for awhile here in the east. Just took rhe boys to the groomer so maybe I can get the kitchen floor cleaned and see it clean for awhile! I managed to get the yard mowed yesterday between rain drops! I'm going to have to spend some time cleaning out the underneath of the mower, mowing when it's wet...not good!

Was going to go to Altoona later today to Petco but apparently the hill behind the shopping center is unstable and they closed down all the stores yesterday. I think they have stores on generators now since they shut down the electric to them but I have a feeling it'll be a bit of a mess. So will head to State College instead. Same stores, different town!

Spent some time in Lola again yesterday and the pile in my dining room is going down! It's getting there!

Hope everyone has a good day and if you are on the road, be safe.

Good morning, everyone! So Marda is on the road full time and Lynn has new wheels, and Ava's son is safe and sound. I know I missed folks, but haven't been in the forum much lately. So apologies and good thoughts for everyone. Travel safe.

Morning all!!

Sharon, "unstable hills", not familiar with that, I've lived in the flatlands most of my life, does that mean they think there will be an avalanche?

Nikki, pretty cool about folks hitting the road, huh? I'm excited for them!

Just heading to work a little later on, other than that, not much doing here. We are slowwwwly playing the "should we get another RV, what should we get" game. It's fun to imagine and plan... but I'd rather be out on the road!

Lots of news here...Micky and Mary, start the lists going, pros & cons, prices etc....go to RV shows with those lists.
Pat, what happened to your Mother?
Ava, sounds like everything going OK for you.
Sue, great news on the house!
Nikki, we will meet up yet!
I am icing the knee right now, prior to taking another trip to clean out the camper. Did one trip yesterday and it went well. Can only work going up and down for 30 minutes tho.
My daughter is out hiking with friends right now...hope it does not rain until she returns home!

I am on a split shift today so am back home now until 5pm before heading back into work for the evening.

Warm and sunny today, altho there is a big black cloud just east of me, but that is heading south so will miss me here.
Trying to decide what to do this afternoon. Need to find something outside to take advantage of the weather. Maybe clean up my bike and go put some air in the tires and take it for a spin. Not quite ready to tackle the kayak yet. Still worried about my shoulder. Don't need to reinjure it.

Talked to my SIL yesterday (the nice one) about my dad. My brother (her husband) has POA and she said he is seriously considering going to court now to take over my dad's stuff. I think my other brother will be on board with that too now. Just need to talk with a lawyer and see what we need to do.

Need to find some lunch now and then figure out something fun to do. :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Had to chuckle at the Avalanche statement! An avalanche is when snow slides down a mountain. When a hillside gets soggy, it can have a mud and or rockslide come down. Unstable usually means when they see cracks or water seeping or small mud flows, as precursor to a full on slide. In Florida and other pretty flat places with limestone eaten away or water flowing below either man made or natural , open areas happen and you get sink holes. I guess you could say you are used to sink holes or accustomed to hearing about earth collapsing down a hole while we hear about mountains sliding down. Actually California has all 3: mud slides from unstable land, avalanches in our mountains, and even occasional sink hole under right circumstances !!
Sounds like everyone has a lot going on. I enjoy reading your reports and traveling vicariously with you.

Yeah, all we have in Illinois are blizzards and tornadoes, and in FL it's sinkholes, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Not such much as hill that could manage to slide off into anything else.

I have had 2 busy days for me that never does anything. Yesterday I went to town to see about the slow leak in one of the tires on my motor home. It was one of the valve extenders. I had an extra set but they aren't the kind that will work with my tire monitor system. So off I go to Lafayette to see if one of the RV places had any. Of course they didn't. I had to order a set on line. Camping World has taken over one of the RV dealers in Lafayette. Their parts department looks like what Walmart has but just more of it. You aren't going to find many parts in there. I got my motorhome serviced at the Ford place so it wasn't a completely wasted trip. Later I went to my club meeting. I wasn't going to miss that because we were having boiled crawfish. They were really good. It's getting to the end of the season and they are really big but hard to peel.

I had a dentist appointment this morning. I feel like I had a double cleaning. My teeth are sore. I don't guess it's my teeth but it hurts when I bite down. I went to the bank, Cracker Barrel, Kirklands, TJ Maxx, the Dollar Store and Walmart. When I got home I realized I forgot to go to the post office and get a new phone. I don't know what I did with my list. The Cracker Barrel and Kirklands have their 4th of July stuff out already. I got a new 4th of July shirt. I may have to cut the sleeves off because they are 3/4 length. I don't know who's idea it was to sell July shirts with 3/4 sleeves in South Louisiana.

Carolb, glad you made it home for the summer. Will be looking forward to see where you go next winter.

Sue, hope everything works out for the house sales and inspections.

I forgot I went by an insurance office. Our house insurance went up $1,000 in one year. We have it through the state because of all the hurricanes. Only one company that I have never heard of is writing policies down here. We could get half the coverage for half the price. What a deal.

I better go feed the outside cats. They are probably all sitting on the porch waiting on me.

Thank you, Martha. Your posts always make me laugh. This time it was the 4th of July shirts with 3/4 sleeves.
