Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, all day

Looks like Sue is sleeping in, so I'll put the coffee on. I'm dying for some coffee cake so if anyone has some, please share!

Seasonal water aerobics starting at our condo pool this morning so I'll head over after coffee, then off to work this afternoon. So much excitement, eh?

First Monday in May

Postby Othersharon » Mon May 02, 2016 8:24 am

Good morning! Was waiting for Sue to start us off here but no sign of her this morning! Well, I had such a good weekend! Carolb pulled in Friday afternoon and we had a great time visiting! She gave me a bunch of great ideas for organizing Lola so we went on a shopping trip yesterday before she left to head for home! I was sorry to see her go! Such a ball of happy energy! Love the way her pups come in a take over, it's really funny how my big guys react to them!

Got several appointments this week so it'll be in and out. And I need to get Lola in for her annual safety inspection if I can this week, not due until the end of the month but don't want to wait that long! So not much else happening here. Hope you all have a great day and if you are on the road, travel safe.

Here I am, better late than never. Thanks for starting coffee this morning, O'Sharon. I was up early, but have been busy doing things in the house here. Carpets are being cleaned today, so wanted to get some things out of the way so he can do his thing, picked up the house so it's back in show mode for the week and also had some online banking to do. So been a busy morning so far.

Beautiful day here. Will be heading to town once the carpets are done and pick up a few things. If I find that dwarf burning bush I saw the other day, I am going to get one or two and plant them in front of my flagpole today. Stock is starting to come in to the various store nurseries, so am making a regular check to see what's there since last visit. Think i might also get some wave Petunias and start a hanging basket of them. Can bring them in at night till weather warms up enough to leave them out 24/7. They will be okay as long as we don't get into low 30's with frost, which we are still doing.

Nice to see everybody posting yesterday, even those who don't regularly post. Neeed to go back this morning and reread the thread to see who posted what after I read it the first time. So not going to take up space here this morning. Wishing you all a nice day, enjoy it.

Checking in a day late. I'm still in CA, waiting for last dental appt. to get permanent bridge. Then will head to Las Vegas to pick up a friend at the airport for a week in Sedona. Then I'll see where the good weather is, lol.

Moving slow this morning, but think I will head out with Thistle on an adventure today. It's supposed to rain later in the week for several days, so this may be the last chance.

What's your adventure for the day?

Good Morning Everyone !! I had such a nice afternoon yesterday !! Accidently found a PBS station that had the Lewis and Clark Expedition on. One, two hr session got me to the Pacific Coast and the next 2 hrs brought me back to St Louis and then told what happened to many of those who made that trip. They lost only one person, from they think appendicitis, and what a trip that was, wilderness, no food, sickness etc., plus the fact they really didn't know what they were getting into. I enjoyed my afternoon immensely as Liz and I made that trip years ago, or portions of it and most of the highlights of the program were spots we had visited. What an exciting afternoon !! I did learn a couple of things that in our travels I don't remember hearing about so that was an added bonus. Then there was another program about our National Parks, that was the highlight of last week end, but enjoyed this one too. Really enjoyed my Sunday afternoon !!!

Pretty outside right now, but supposed to be way different this afternoon. Where I live though the predictions don't always come to pass. I did get out and get the few things I discovered I needed in here, out of the rv. One being small bottles of water, I buy a huge pkg and just can't carry it in here, so bring a few at a time  We have had rain during the night, my yard is growing fast and still have not gotten my mower fixed. Skylight also is waiting attention, so hoping the fella will get back to me on that, checked during our storms and didn't see any coming in, not sure if that is good or bad, getting a little worried about if it is seeping into the layers of roofing and wood up there. Oh dear, Monday morning and here come all the trivial things of life creeping in and I'm wanting answers or fixes :o

Need to get moving again, Monday and lots to do, hope everyone has a great day, stay SAfe, Please, but enjoy your day ,

Good Morning! I didn’t get a chance to check in yesterday so will git-er-done today. We finally received some rain…. way too much of it! Yesterday was the first day the sun shined for about a week. We’ve gone from dust blowing to all the field looking like rice paddies. I have a husband in a foul mood because it’s impossible to do any field work.

My mom is 96 and failing quickly. I went to see her late last Thursday afternoon and again on Friday morning. She is sleeping a lot and her memory is failing and she is on oxygen all the time. She told me numerous things that I know weren’t true: such as my sister hadn’t been to see her in over a week, she hadn’t been fed all day, she hadn’t had a bath in two weeks, the nurses took her lift-chair and gave it to someone else and replaced it with one that doesn’t work (it was her chair and it was working fine). A CAN who is just super told me that mom had become very upset because she was trying to make a phone call and no one would answer. She was using her remote to her lift chair and she doesn’t have a phone in her room. Up until the last couple months the body was weak but the mind was very sharp. In late February she had a cataract removed from her left eye and was supposed to have the right eye done a couple weeks later. At that time they found a tumor behind her right eye and decided they couldn’t do surgery until she saw a specialist and couldn’t get an appointment until this week. I am quite sure that they will not consider surgery to remove it on a 96 year old who is on oxygen all the time because of the anesthesia. Also I can’t help but think that it is malignant. She has fought both breast and colon cancer in the past 14 years and I am afraid it might have metastasized. Pneumonia is also a concern since she is basically bed or chair ridden.

So with that I’m going to say “later”.

Pat

Pat, I am so sorry this is happening to your Mom and family. 96, is a very long time, bless her heart. She has been a very strong person for a long time. So it is especially hard now for you and the rest of the family. She may rally and her mind be sharp again, at that age it is so hard to know what each day might bring. Thinking about you and will add your Mom and all of you to my prayer list.

Take care and so sorry you are in such a sad place right now,

Liz, it surprised me to see forecast of rain this week on news last night. Weeds will grow talked and soon enough it will turn HOT. Meanwhile I'm enjoying this cooler weather.
Have a good day, you amd Thistle

Pat, am so sorry to hear about your mom. It is so hard to watch our parents get old and frail. Hope you can spend more time with her now that you are retired.

This morning I went to get my tow package attached to my new Jeep in a town about 20 miles north of me. Stopped at Walmart first for a bit to pick up some much needed things I can't get in my little town. Then dropped the Jeep off. It was such a gorgeous day, so I walked to Taco Bell for lunch and then up the street to a big old barn that has been transformed into an antique store. Lots of really cool things in there! They have it organized so well that it was easy to look at everything. Most antique shops are so piled high with all sorts of junk that I just feel overwhelmed and end up walking out right away. This place had nice stuff and was easy to walk thru. Didn't buy anything tho. Then went back to pick up my Jeep. Need to contact Chrysler to get my $100 prepaid Visa card now.

Am cat sitting for a neighbor so I better get back over there to feed and play with her before bedtime!

Hope you all had a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
