Friday in MI

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday in MI

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 29, 2016 6:14 am

Good Morning out there,

Okay, Martha, I got the hint. Time to get back on the job here. I've been reading but not posting. Been enjoying letting some of the others start the coffee. And really haven't had anything to post about here. After 8 showings on the house, it's slacked off to none this week. Still have the contingency people and also another buyer who is seriously considering, but like a lot of others, says they probably should sell their place first and then take a mortgage out on this place. They are weighing their options right now. So I"m just playing the waiting game here. And my next door neighbor has listed her house as well now. Moving back to NY. Weather hasn't been the greatest either. Chilly and breezy.

Carolb, glad you are moving along ahead of the weather and that you had such a nice time with Kathleen. Now on to O'Sharons for some more fun. JudyJB, sorry about all the back issues. Maybe you should see a chiropractor. Sounds to me like something is out of place back there. Believe me, mine has saved me more times than not especialy when my hip slipped out of place a couple of years ago when I took a slip on black ice. Caught myself, but really wretched that hip. Barb, hope the doctor shed some light on your dad's issues yesterday. Sorry to hear that some of your gals are having fights with insurance companies too. That's ridiculous. And Beth, hard to believe it's time to open the store. I remember that one couple who were working there when I was there. They were so nice and friendly. Are they back again this year?

Well, time to move along here. Nothing special doing today. This is pickup and clean a bit day to get house ready in case something comes up over weekend. Friday's and Monday's are my two bigger cleaning up days here. In between, I maintain. I find that although its work keeping a house in "show mode", it does make it easier if I am having a showing as I don't have to work like crazy to get things looking good. So ya all have a nice day out there. Those on the road, have safe travels.

Sue, you have us spoiled to seeing you post every morning and we miss you if you don't. You are always doing something and I seldom do much. I'm still unloading from my last trip. Don't want to get into too big a hurry.

I had 3 RVW members call me yesterday from New Orleans asking questions about this area. I was trying to sell them on the Tabasco Factory and Avery Island but they didn't seem too interested. Who doesn't want to eat Tabasco Ice Cream. lol They may be through here Monday or Tuesday.

The state Dutch Oven groups are meeting at Palmetto Island State Park this weekend. There are demonstrations Saturday morning, a band in the afternoon and pots on the table at 6:00 PM. I think we have some bad weather headed this way so hope they don't get rained out.

Judy, one of the reasons I hate to fly is the cramped up seats. I usually don't have many back issues but I have to take something to stand a flight. I had a blood clot in my leg in my 20's and I don't want another one.

I need to go to town so guess I need to get moving. It is really breezy this morning. Hope it doesn't decide to rain.

Martha

PS The Dutch Oven thing is May 7, not tomorrow.

Good morning all! I think I must have missed spring and summer here! temps are back down in the 40's and damp and cool. Not a good time for Carolb to visit, this may send her back to warmer climates! But at least no snow in sight!

Seems to be the week of dealing with doctors, pharmacies and insurance companies! Sure glad my prescription isn't something I really needed to start that day. But here it is Friday and I was at the doctor on Monday and still nothing! Frustrating.

And on top of everything else my refrigerator's control panel cover decided to break. Luckily it isn't affecting it's running but I have a gallon container holding it up! Called the repair place and they come here on Tuesdays so he'll come next week and decide what to have to order and then not be back until the following week, with luck anyway. Hard to believe, as much as a frig costs the amount of plastic that is on it. These are just 2 little plastic tabs that broke. I looked on a website for a replacement but because of the age of the unit what they show doesn't look like what's on it now so I'm hesitant to order any parts. Wonder if gorilla tape will work in the cold! Duct tape doesn't seem to hold!

Ok, end of my rants! Just been that kind of week, I guess!

Barbie, sorry about your dad not showing up for his appointment but at least gave you a chance to talk to the doctor. Sad that your brother won't do anything about it. He's sure not helping his dad. But then you already know that.

Beth, good luck with your opening today! You are good at working around a bad situation! They are lucky to have you!

Need to get busy and get off the computer, I'm cross eyed from looking at frig parts! Have a wonderful day, stay safe if you are in the path of these storms and if you are on the road, travel safe.

Good morning gals! Sunny here but still on the chilly side. Supposed to warm up near 70 later this week and be sunny. We have had a ton of rain this past week so we don't need any more for awhile. I see lilacs are starting to pop out now too. :P

I have an appointment to take my new Jeep in to get the tow package put on, on Monday. It is a recall thing to protect the gas tank so will be free. :)

Wishing you all a safe, warm, dry and pain-free day! :D

PS> Just found out that I get a $100 prepaid Visa card for bringing my Jeep in for the recall! Yay!

Good morning, all. Sue! I wondered where you'd gone off to. My morning is slightly off kilter if I don't see your name at the top of MC. However, I can begrudgingly allow that you might just have a life. Maybe. I'm not sure. Nah.  Yay! You're back!

Judy, I'm sorry to hear that you're in pain or were. Martha, wish I was in your neighborhood to see the dutch oven people cook. That's something I'd love to see. Sarah, I hope you feel better soon. Barbie, you sound like you've recovered from losing the rental. I hope you're found some help with your Dad. I wish everyone safe travels and peace on and off the road.

Not much going on here. Wish I had a story to tell, but life is pretty blah. Having brunch with Birdie on Monday.

Hugs to all. Travel safe.

Morning! Sitting in lounge in the Ford service shop. They told me 3 hours to do 30k maintenance for Suite Pea. So I fixed a sandwich, grabbed my iPad and Jetpack and headed to the lounge. Weather forecast for rain this afternoon and night. After I get back to the campground I have to go pick up my new to me EMS, electrical management system. Mine is giving me an error code and they said they would send me a refurbished unit if I wanted it. It was quicker than waiting for mine to be repaired. Don't like to be in storm country without protection. Will take Herbie in for tune up on Monday morning at San Marcos Chevy dealer. Will have brunch with Nikki. Expect to head over to the Alpaca, horse, dog, cat ranch next week. That is always a fun stop. Everyone on the road have fun and be safe.

More good news! Just ran over to my insurance agent and the insurance on the new Jeep will be about $150/yr cheaper than the old one! (I know I was over-insured on the old one tho). And then on the way home I started pushing buttons and not only does my moon roof retract but it also pops up, which I didn't know about before. So I can get some fresh air without the wind that way! Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket today!

I drove only 78 miles today and found a really nice state park campground--full hookups for $25 and only one other set of campers out of 8 possible sites. Nice and quiet and I can continue resting.

Sue, this is not a spine problem or a pinched nerve. It is definitely a pulled back muscle and is located just above my waist on my left side. I can touch it and feel a lump and how sore it is. When I hurt it, I was being flung around in all directions in an open tour truck, so I was holding onto the seat in front of me with one hand and the railing on the side with the other hand, trying to keep from bouncing around so much as it was a very rough ride. So now what happens when I turn or lean to one side or the other is that the muscle goes into spasm, causing a very sharp pain. I had something similar happen to me a few years ago, and it took quite a while to heal.

Anyway, enough about that. Back to the heating pad and getting work done. I am looking forward to going to Zion tomorrow, which is one of my favorite places. I had planned to go to Kodachrome state park after that, but have been told there is snow up there and no Verizon, so might cancel or at least cut down to 1-2 days instead of 4. Highs have been in the low 50s with lows around 34 in central Utah for the past week with lots of rain and snow on mountains not much higher than I have been driving.

And, Martha, ditto on the flying. On both my trips to Ohio and Georgia I had to sit slightly bent to one side because of the cramped plane. Going to and back from Ohio was really painful. I am SO spoiled to be able to travel in my motorhome and have my own stuff with me and not have to pack and unpack! :D

Judy, heat shouldn't be applied until swelling has lessened. Ice first. I usually alternate ice, heat, ice after a few days. I always applied just heat, but I learned from a family member's doctor recommended treatment that ice was better at first. Also googled treatment.

I moved to the casino in Sequim, WA today. Brother and sister--in-law are coming later. I'll go into Port Angeles to see my sister and nieces tomorrow - they were out of town when I was here last year. Will head back to Monica's for two nights on Sunday. She has been such a big help with the storage issue! We had a laugh the other evening when all 3 of her dogs were sitting with me - they are usually all over her! Thank goodness they are all small! One on my lap, one next to me and one at my feet!

Hope you all enjoy what is left of your day!!

Judy, have you considered getting a massage? I pull muscles in my neck and upper back from work and my massage therapist really works those muscles out. She is a miracle worker!

JudyJB ....Anita is right! You should be using some ice to help reduce the swelling. I know the heat feels better and you can alternate heat and cold. Two boys in sports and numerous muscle injuries taught me this. R-I-C-E Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation. There are ACE bandage type wraps for the back....elevation is a little rough with a back injury.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Judy you just described a back out of adjustment. The muscles go into spasm to protect joints out of adjustment. For sure bouncing in a truck can slide joints, where they don't belong, causing the muscles to spasm to try to protect joints from further damage.
