Thursday in Ohio

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday in Ohio

Postby carolb » Thu Apr 28, 2016 7:39 am

Gmorning all :)

Yikes, kinda late for me or our usual MC openers? Hope all are doing well. Martha & other southerners, survive the storms? I made it through IL, IN, & to OH without hitting any storms, which surprised me.

Yep, had a great time with Kathleen! She surprised me with a scrumptuous pot roast dinner, wow! And y'all think I work for free ;)

Raining here (staying with Trek friend) this a.m., so catching up on MC & on other email. OSharon, will see you Fri or Sat. You can save some of that yard work for me:)

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Cloudy Thursday

Postby Othersharon » Thu Apr 28, 2016 7:51 am

Good morning. Woke up to a gray day today, rain to come! Luckily I got out in the yard yesterday and cleaned up after the dogs and mowed. And temps won't get out of the 40's! Back to sweatshirt weather for a few days!

I need to contact the doctor's office today. Apparently the new prescription she ordered for me the other day isn't one the insurance will pay for without more information as to why she ordered it. So it's a bunch of paperwork for everyone and I'm sitting here left out of the equation. Apparently the only way I'll know if the insurance got the info is if I ask the pharmacy to fill it again. U-r-r-g! Guess I've been lucky that this is the first time this has happened to me!

JudyJB, sorry abut your back pain. Maybe now that you are finally back home you can get it to settle down! Kathleen, was good to see your post. Glad you had a good visit with Carolb, she is a treasure! My guys would probably wish Piper stayed with you, she lays in the toy box and guards the toys so no one can get one! And my big guys let her! Confuses them but they let her be! Barbie, will be thinking about you today. Hope the doctor can help you with your dad situation. It's a tough thing to go through.

Time to go get dressed and get this day started. Have a good day and travel safe.

Good morning.
Playing catch up reading on here. I haven't been into anything interesting enough to write about. Still fighting major allergy problems and not feeling well. Tree pollen counts are finally beginning to fall a little so they are past peek. High expectations that I will see some improvement soon.
Weather has been so nice lately it has been hard to have to stay inside and not be able to open up the house for fresh air. Rain forecast for the weekend. We actually need it for a change.
I've got to go out today for a CT scan and pick up some prescriptions. Washing and bill paying on agenda for the afternoon. Certainly hope you have something more fun planned for your day.

Spending today in Blowing Rock NC. I've had so much fun driving the Blue Ridge!

Also -- rhododendrons everywhere, but no flowers yet at this elevation. I need to come back next month!

The storm yesterday was an almost non-event down here. We got a half inch of rain. It blew through here pretty fast. This morning New Orleans and South Mississippi are flooding. I don't know if that's the same storm or something that blew in from the Gulf. I'm just glad we didn't get that much rain.

Yesterday afternoon late I walked over to the neighbors. We got to talking and it got dark. We hear someone drive up and it's Harold coming to get me. He is cussing me all the way home(short trip) because I went over there without a flashlight. I don't know how I made it this long. At least I'm not up an 8 foot ladder trying to fix a light in the barn.

I went to sleep early and was up at 2:30. I don't know what time I went back to sleep but woke up this morning with a headache. I hate when that happens.

Ok, where's Sue? She's falling down on her MC job. ;)

Cold (mid 30's), windy and raining here today. Not very nice. Spent the morning driving in the pouring rain for nothing. My dad never showed up for his dr appointment. Apparently he felt it was more important to stay home in case his lottery winnings and car show up. I did speak with the doctor for a few minutes myself. She feels we really need to go to court to get control of his finances and get him into a care facility. That is not my call. My older brother has full POA and so far refuses to do that. I don't know what more I can do at this point. It is pretty much out of my hands now.

Worked 10 hours yesterday and my shoulder is feeling it a little today. Not too bad tho. Did make $100 in tips tho! I need to refigure my budget now and start paying down/off my credit cards. I am reading a good book right now on how to do that painlessly ( :? ).

I actually had to try out the heated seat in my new Jeep today because it was so cold out! Works really nice! I thought it would just be the bottom that got warm but the back of the seat gets warm too!

Hope you all are having a good day and staying safe on the roads.

Left Utah Lakes SP in Provo this morning, after spending an extra day just resting my back, and headed off to run errands (groceries, prescriptions, etc.) and drive south. Made it to Yuba Lake SP, Painted Rocks Campground on the east side of the lake. Electric and water sites for only $20, and a great view. Nicely paved campsites, though no showers or running water in bathrooms. Water level is very low, but I am just enjoying the view and resting anyway.

Skip this next if you don't want to hear a rant! You all know I hurt my back--pulled a muscle 10 days ago and have been having a lot of sharp pains from muscle spasms. Every time I move wrong, muscle goes nuts. Went to urgent care in Ohio and doctor prescribed a muscle relaxant, a generic for flexerile, which I have taken before for muscle spasms. First problem was that 7.5 mg dose had to be ordered because no one had it and cost was $100. Also insurance wanted pre-approval because of my age, which would take 72 hours. So, on doctor's suggestion, I tried for several days just using the prednisone she had given me. After few days I also called insurance company and started pre-approval process. Then I discovered 5 or 10 mg pills cost only $4 for a typical prescription, so since I was still in a lot of pain from spasms, I called doctor yesterday and she called in new prescription to local pharmacy here for 5 mg dose, which I just picked up this morning and paid $4 cash for!!

Just got a call from insurance company, and they have denied approving this drug for me on the basis on my advanced age (72) because we elderly people tend to fall more than younger people!! :x I got an extremely long phone message telling me how to appeal and how if I still really needed it I could get an emergency appeal that would take another 72 hours, etc. and how I could use a lawyer and get my doctor to respond, etc.

So, I already have the new dose pills, and have already taken one because I am done driving for the day, but what if this had been something really serious??? Second time I called doctor, she agreed that this was the right drug for me and that the alternatives the insurance company had suggested were basically Tylenol and useless for my condition. How long are you supposed to be in pain waiting for the insurance company to make decisions for you, against the opinion of your doctor???? Grrrrrr.

Judy, is this something a cortisone shot would help with? Pain makes life miserable! Sorry you are dealing with this. :(

They did give me a cortisone shot last Friday when I first saw the doctor. Also gave me large supply of prednisone, which acts like cortisone. I still have two more days of the prednisone to take, but I really needed the muscle relaxant. I did try with just the prednisone alone, and it is slightly better, but it has been a total of 11 days since I rode on that extremely bumpy truck.

I am also using my electric heating pad when I can and that helps. I start off the day doing fine, but then as I move around, the spot starts spasming again. So I am sitting and trying to do as little as possible. Plane ride back to Utah did not help, no doubt.

Judy - I'll spare everyone another rant about what I went thru yesterday, today and now looks like well into next week over trying to get coordination/ approval between doctor and insurance for both prescriptions and a piece of durable medical equipment to aid breathing. It has become totally insane!

I can only imagine. My situation is painful and irritating, but not life-threatening, so I was lucky. I was told about the over a certain age issue over the phone, but they are sending me a letter of refusal, so someday when I get it, I am going to give them a piece of my mind. And the 72 hours starts AFTER I receive this snail mail letter. Glad I decided to just pay for it myself.

Hang in there and keep fighting the insanity!!

Louise, I love driving the Blue Ridge - glad you are enjoying it.

Judyjb, every time I go to MX I get a refill of Flexiril --- I rarely take it - but it puts me to sleep for 12 or more hours sometimes, and sometimes I just need to do that - especially if my headaches have been bad, and/or I haven't been getting a decent nights sleep - often my headaches are caused by my neck muscles and that always helps. But I hate taking any drugs - so while I took one a couple weeks ago - hadn't taken it for several months. Can't do it if I need to be up the next day - because I just might not be lol ... but I don't sleep as long now on them as I did younger ... so not sure age is a factor.

Store opens tomorrow morning - limited hours since we don't have everything fixed/up and running. But it's as ready as it can be - and I'm proud of what I've done so far. The couple who helped me clean and stock and open have been wonderful and one of the workers from last year and her significant other who will be helping this year, arrived today - it all works ... one day at a time.

Judy have you tried ice on your spasms? It both stops pain and reduces inflammation. Also I have not seen you answer as to whether you have tried a chiropractor? Ice always helps me when I need it, fortunately since I started Curves that is not often. My chiropractor helps a lot too. I do realize its hard to find a good one on the road though. I won't take flexeril because half a pill knocks me out for 14 hours and I don't like that, tried it once after a dentist thought it would help my jaw pain. Silly man, a silicone bite plate stopped my jaw pain and headaches.

It is afternoon and I am just reading posts... I enjoy catching up on everyones life... I am still smiling from having Carolb here... she works so hard!! Yes I would love to take Piper O'Sharon... lol...

I have been very fortunate to not be suffering with a lot of pain since my bout for three months + the beginning of last year... My doctor cued me in to the cheap price for Flexural... I take it for Fibromyalgia... when I need it I use it at night... does not make me sleep better though...

Sarah those allergies are giving you way too much trouble this spring...

Barbie that new ride sounds good... my daughter has heated seats in her car... my butt heats mine! The stress you have with worry for your dad is awful... I prayed just now that you would have some peace over this situation... You can not do anything more...

Beth I am so glad you have had good workers for a change... it will make for a good working environment this spring!

Everyone take care of yourselves and have an awesome day!!
