Rainy Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Thursday

Postby Colliemom » Thu Apr 21, 2016 6:33 am

Good Morning from the wet 45th,

For a change it's raining and not snowing :) looks like a wet day on tap here, but it's fine with me. Grass is really greening up and this will help it more. Probably be doing the first cutting before long. Like maybe over weekend for all I know. Love that idea.

Otherwise not much doing here today. No showings scheduled, so can relax and just do what I want, Plan to spend some time in garage, going through stuff out there. Have some things that I want to take up to Habitat. Nothing big, just little stuff I won't need once this place is sold. Also want to pack up some stuff out there too.

Got my trailer uncovered yesterday, and today it's getting a good bath, not that it wasn't clean to start with. Will clean inside later when weather warms up a bit again. Nights are still going into 30's, so not going to dewinterize just yet. Haven any plans to go anyplace anyway. First reservations are in June, but doesn't mean I won't go out in May. Depends on when and if anything happens with house. Queen, the house size includes a full basement. Actual living space upstairs is still 1712 sq. ft. though. Next place will be 1,000 sq. ft.which is a tad more than your place and no basement.

Hope you all have a nice day out there today. Keeping those with health issues in my prayers.

Good morning Sue and all... the sun rose with a few clouds but now it is shining bright might rain here tomorrow... we went to the Home Park this morning for the sunrise... I have problems with Pheebe's leash... she is always either jerking my arm out of the socket practically or pulling it right out of my hand she is a strong little girl for a skinny as she is... this morning she pulled it out of my hand and almost got hit by a car... well I'm going to now pattern after Carolb ... I got another lease not retractable I'm going to tie it around my waist and she will not get away from me again.... made a few changes around here my dad gave up his driver's license and I got his car put in my name and we took him over to get his photo I dropped him off and where to park the car came back over and he had fallen on the cement he broke nothing thank goodness some people helping him get up that's the fourth time since January that he's fallen.. he decided to get the car fixed up so now I have A/C new tires..oil change... alignment done ...got the windows put up and put a shim in them so they can't fall down it cost $250 per window to get them fixed so we have one working window the driver side that's what's important... since I now own a car and my insurance was due on my RV I got some new insurance and the insurance on the car dropped by half and so did my RV Insurance dad is still going to continue paying maintenance on the car and the insurance or I would not have been able to do this... today will do laundry and I don't know what else... so anyway have a good one everybody & B safe....donna

Sue - that sounds like the perfect size, hope you have a quick sale.

G&M - Pheebe is adorable, glad you found a new buddy. Sorry to hear about your dad not doing well, but happy you're with him to help.

Another day another .50 here. Being back to work full time is good for the money, but wearing all the same. Maybe it's just trying to adjust to my bizarre schedule, but I'm sure tired much of the time. But hey, I have a decent job, and a decent home, I'm pretty lucky.

Gmorning Sue, Donna & all to follow:)

(Hi Mickie, you snuck in on me ;) )

Rain here too, Sue. Everything soooo green, & flowering trees/lilacs in bloom! Donna, sometimes it takes a real scare with our pups to get us to "do the right thing." Can't believe that lil Phee is so strong as to pull the leash out of your hand :o IMO, & also a word from my dog trainer, retractable leashes are only for dogs once they're highly trained...

Have a few hours of work here at sis's this a.m. Leaving around noon to visit Kathleen--about an hour north of here:) Then back to sis's for the wkend. Sis & BIL work during week, & I've come to things that need help, so the three of us will be working our butts off this weekend:)

Alice, so glad you had news from Patty:)

Ok, Kathleen texting me:) We need to work out "details." Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Hello from Bandera. We made it over here yesterday. Tuesday I picked up my sister and we made it to just past Brenham. Didn't run into any flooding and only one big rain storm near Huntsville. Yesterday I managed to get unhooked and it started poring as we got on the road. It rained pretty good for about half the way. It's raining again this morning. There is a big area of rain coming through and I think it will be clear after that.

We are going to Campe Verde for lunch. I forget the history of this place but it has something to do with camels. It has a store and nice restaurant. Last night we went to the Eleventh Street Bar to cook our meat and listen to western music for a while.

Donna sorry to hear your dad is having problems again but looks like he is making better decisions to help you out. Be careful and don't let Pheebe pull you down.

Good morning all. Been trying to catch up with the last couple of days here! Sounds like lots going on with everyone! Sue, good to hear you got your trailer uncovered! Travel time gettting closer! I decided I wouldn't start working inside Lola until I got some of this yardwork done! Too tempting to play with her all day and not get done what needs done! We're supposed to get some rain here too, either today or tomorrow. I mowed again yesterday for the second time! Figured I'd better do it before the rain comes and it grows a few inches! :D

Donna, good you got things settled with your dad's car. Glad he didn't hurt himself when he fell. Shame you can't get him to use a cane. And glad Pheebe is ok, that had to be scary! I never liked retractable leashes but that's just me. Martha, glad you made it with no major weather problems. Carolb, have a fun afternoon with Kathleen. And don't work to hard this weekend!

Well, still more reading to do here so I'll sign off. Have a good day and travel safe.

Good morning! Rainy again today but it sure is getting nice and green outside! Leaves are finally popping out all over now! Even saw some dandelions yesterday!

My dad still wants to try to get his drivers license renewed and get his car running again. We think that is why he keeps on with these lottery scams, just for the new car. He has an appointment next week with a neurologist again. I am writing her a letter hoping she can have him evaluated and put the kibosh on the driving thing once and for all. She can send a letter to the DMV recommending that he never get his license reinstated due to his dementia, something his old crappy doctor should have done but refused to do. Don't want his new doctor to do that because he is a good doctor and my dad likes him, so better to have the neurologist do it.

I sold my smaller tent on FB (Swap N Shop) the other day so got a little extra money from that. Every little bit helps right now.

Got an update on Sophie Kitten this morning. She is doing great and her new owner loves her to pieces! So that makes me feel good. She said I can come visit Sophie any time. I also have an invite to visit the ferrets too. Still waiting for an invite to see my daughter tho... :(
Off to work in awhile and then have tomorrow off again. Need to get stuff done around my apartment. If it is nice out tho, I might clean up my bike and get some air in the tires and try that out. Might be able to get more use out of that this spring since I can't play golf or kayak for awhile. Shoulder is doing better but still gets pretty sore after working all day.

Hope you all have a good day! Wish I was traveling with Liz right now! She is exploring areas out west that I really want to see someday!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie - a good friend of mine just took her 93 year old mom in to test for her drivers license (naturally assuming she would fail and tired of fighting her about it) and she passed!!! Her doc refused to intervene even though she can barely walk, she cannot remember what she's said or what's been said to her for more than 3 seconds... but she has a drivers license. Terrifying.

Good morning
Sitting and hanging out in a shady spot by work. Dropped my car off at Fletchers
to get the wheel cylinders replaced. Guess I'll try to get a nap in the drivers lounge
in a little while. Brought Maggies little car blanket to roll up for a pillow and hopefully
will get a few winks. Not much else going on, plans for the weekend include a little
yard work up in Superior. Did a little in my yard yesterday as Bill was there and he
hauled a few large items to the big roll off management brought in. Things are actually
starting to make there way where they need to be.
Y'all have a great day, be safe, gotta go get my nap.

I haven't owned a dog in years, but I had heard there are newer style special head harness or something like that which aid in controlling a rambunctious dog in training while not hurting them. Back in the day I properly used a "choke chain collar" ( by properly I mean there is a direction to put one on and if opposite it is bad as it won't drop loose as the dog quits tugging). See if you can talk to some dog experts as I think tying that leash around your waist is a very bad idea, for YOUR safety! I know there are better ways for both you and your rambunctious pal!

Sitting in Detroit airport waiting for connection to Cleveland.

And I agree about not tying leash around your waist. Even a small dog can make you lose your balance if they pull at the wrong time!!

More catch-up tomorrow.

I agree about the Gentle Leader or a harness, versus a regular collar. Both can make a world of difference.

For what it's worth, Gentle Leaders, if not used carefully can lead to severe neck injuries, especially if the dog is prone to running & choking itself at the end of its leash. Think about it ... the dog goes from 0-60 and is stopped only when the Gentle Leader jerks its head around, sometimes violently.

If your dog doesn't walk well on a 6' leash, then maybe some training for both of you is in order. ;)
