Thank you everyone. It's been a strange day. Have talked to sister in law several times. Mel has brokered a reconciliation between his sister, and our younger son. The younger son has offered to fly from Minnesota to Oklahoma and represent our side of the family and has been asked to stay at sister in laws home. That's a huge leap and it's just too bad it took this to make it happen. It will be a beautiful military honors burial as they lay to rest one of the remaining WWII Purple Heart veterans, who we called Dad/ Grandpa/ Great grandpa. Now to get through Thursday until Mel's ear surgery for tube placement on Friday. On the good side, today he took vision and written test to renew his license. I may be running out of excuses to hang onto the steering wheel as I've done since his first surgery nearly 3 years ago. And I picked up my new glasses from Costco and it's a huge improvement.
Appreciate everyone sending thoughts and wishes. It's been a tough day. Even when you know it's coming it's not easy. I guess we lose our 40 year status as the California kids now that we are suddenly the elder generation.
