Patty K asked me to post...

Postby carolb » Thu Apr 07, 2016 12:59 pm

When I visited her in early March, she was scheduled for a doc appt later in the month re her smoker's cough. Since I hadn't heard from her, I called just a bit ago. She said it is lung cancer. I'm so sad, as many of you will be too, and I asked her if she had notified our forum family--that was when she said "I don't know what to say. Will you do it for me?" The following is what we agreed to post:

Her CA son & DIL are with her now to help her get packed & moved from Nevada to Colorado where her other son lives. There, she will get with doctors to determine a treatment plan. She is not able to workcamp & is selling her motorhome...She expects to be leaving for CO this wkend.

And now I don't know what to say...except prayers are needed, please....Patty, you have many good friends here with your forum family who will be supporting you...

Nope, don't know what to say....

This breaks my heart. I'm following several RV people dealing with heart and cancer issues. Make the most of every day. Thanks for posting, Carolb.

Heartbreaking is right. I HATE this effing disease. Hate it with an intense passion.

Patty, you will be in my thoughts and prayers as you start this difficult journey.
I'll pray for your strength and healing, and guidance for your doctors.
And I'll look forward to meeting you around a campfire one day.

Be strong, but don't forget to cry when you need to.

Patty, my heart and prayers go out to you. I will truly miss visiting you at your work camping spot this year, but glad we got together briefly at Quartzite. Please don't lose contact with your friends here; we will continue to lift you up through this difficult journey.

Thank you Carolb for sharing her news here with us. And I know what to say: I've lost too many friends and family to smoking-related lung cancer. If you smoke, please quit. If you have "smoker's cough," please see a doctor immediately. I love you.

So sorry to hear this news. Hopefully treatment will be started soon and you can go from there. Everyone's treatment has different results so I really hope they can arrest this lung cancer and you can have many more years with us.

Patty, I have never met you but you are here and therefore one of us. It isn't your fault that some of us don't go west often enough. Glad that you have your family around you to support you through the coming journey. Let us know...or let Carolb know and let her share. There is no map on how to navigate these roads. Do what gives you the most peace, you need all the strength you can muster.

So sorry to hear this Patty. Wish you had told me in your email last week, but I understand how hard that would be. I really enjoyed seeing you in Pahrump a few weeks ago. Please know how much I will miss seeing you in Thomas Canyon in June and in Q. I'm so happy your sons are helping you. You will be in my prayers constantly. (((((HUGS)))))
