April Fools Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

April Fools Day

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 01, 2016 5:50 am

Good morning everybody,

Here we are, April 1st, start of another month. I wonder if people make a big a deal out of April Fools Day like they did in the past. Don't seem to hear about it as much anymore.

Girls are frolicking in here this morning already. Looks like it's going to be one of those days. Slept most of yesterday as weather was so icky. Miss Piper has already scattered the contents of the toy box all over the floor in here

Well, today is the day. Realtor is coming later this morning to get the paperwork signed etc. and pictures taken to list the house. So from today on, will be living in a show mode home. Everything picked up and kept clean and tidy.

Carolb, nice that you are moving slowly along, managing to stay ahead or or behind the weather fronts. Judy, you are really enjoying CA I can see. All the discussion of Panera Bread is interesting. They are going to be building one up here this year, so will f course try and see what it's like.

Time to move along here. Get dressed and run vac, pick up a little and make a few things "disappear" for a while. You all have a nice day, stay safe if in flooded or stormy areas and enjoy your travels if on the road.

Mornin' Sue and all that follow ~~~

I heard on the radio that it was 20 years ago that Taco Bell pranked that they bought the Liberty Bell. I do remember that one. And a few years ago, Mapquest had directions on how to get to London (drive to NY and swim 3,000 miles or something like that).

Cancelled my reservation for next weekend because it's still going to be a bit chilly. Colt still isn't dewinterized, but had a spot close to the loo and it worked out pretty well next year. Next weekend is the scheduled dewinterizing, and playing it by ear if I want to try a drive in at a SP. The loop I want at Chain O Lakes SP isn't open for reservations yet, and my second choice SP is walk-in only for now. I may pack & bring food with, but since my backing skills need practice (probably forgot everything from last year), it may depend on what's open. Oh well, at least Giant City is booked in May.

For those (Martha? CArolb?) cleaning closets, I heard a trick a few years back. Hang all of your hangers backwards on the rod. If they are still backwards in whatever time you choose (6 months? 1 year?) and the hangers are still backwards, get rid of it because you didn't wear it. I tried an got rid of a few things, but not enough to really make a dent.

Well, best get crackin' here. Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Good morning everyone it looks like it's going to be another hot one with possible storms going to air again... I am over at Wickham Park campground to dump my tanks I'm going to stay two days this time I'm happy to be here even though it's still pretty crowded... I tried to take Pheebe on a walk at sunset last evening but there's still too many people too many cars too many dogs it was not a pleasant walk... we do better when walking alone... it is going to be another 90 degrees today so I think I will stay inside later and maybe do some sewing I have my machine with me... as far as April Fools my mom used to get us kids... every year with the same trick and we fell for it... way back in the day when I was a kid by the time April 1st rolled around the weather was really good it was a true spring warm and fun and time to play outside.. so every April 1st morning when she would come and wake us up for school and pull up the blind & say... OH NO IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT... my sister and I or jump out of bed moan and groan jump to the window just to be told haha April Fools.. wonderful memory of my mom who died at a very young age of 40 from breast cancer...
Have a great day & B safe.

Happy April Fools!

Sunny but cold and windy today. With all the rain we had the past two days the grass is getting nice and green now. More buds are showing up on the trees too. Not too long for springtime now. I heard a loon calling out on the lake a little while ago. Love the loons!

Had a little setback with my shoulder and am in quite a bit of pain again. I have a therapy session this morning so will see how that goes. I go back to work on Sunday so hopefully I will do OK there. My manager cut my hours back next week to just 4 or 5 hours per day which will help some. Altho, I am getting really worried about my finances for April. I should be able to cover my rent but my bills probably won't get covered with my next check. I may have to actually borrow money from my dad to get me thru for awhile. I am also worried that I may not be able to continue cutting hair if I keep having issues with my shoulder. I don't know what else I could do for work at this point. That is the hard part about being single and not having someone else to help out when getting sick or injured. I don't get sick pay or disability with this job. And even if I did, I still lose out on half of my income from loss of tips.
(BJ, would you recommend Reiki for something like this?)

I have been getting caught up on reading and working on my autobiography which is good.

I can't believe the change in Lola since Sophie left. She is right by me all the time now. She lays on me on the couch when I am napping which she has never done before. She is turning into a sweet lapcat now! Maybe she learned something from watching Sophie.

Hope those of you down south are safe and dry from the storms, especially Sarah. Some close calls last night it sounds like, with tornadoes! Yikes! Glad we don't get many of those up around here much anymore, like we used to.

Those out west, keep enjoying your fun adventures!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Yes Barbie, Reiki would help you, anytime one becomes less stressed their health will improve. Stress causes many types of pain. The reason I use Hypnosis along with the Reiki as that they work together and is considered one of the best integrative therapies. I had a woman in one of my yoga classes tell me she was in horrible pain at a hospital in St Louis and medication was not helping. They sent in a person to do Reiki and it totally relieved the pain. Here is a bit from an article about a NIH study. I have included a link to the full article.

"Reiki has the ability to soothe even patients undergoing painful procedures, and it is not uncommon for patients screaming with intractable pain to become composed within 5-10 minutes of Reiki touch. Reiki can work on the physical as well as the psychosocial/spiritual levels, Reiki addresses not only anxiety and pain, but also the spiritual
suffering that frequently presents as anxiety and pain."

Sue, I hate to think I would have to keep my house sale ready.

It has been raining off and on all morning. We are between the rain right now. It has cooled off some and it's still pretty breezy. It is suppose to clear up tomorrow and no rain for 4 days. Not sure I believe that. There is a seafood cook off at the state park tomorrow. You can buy a bracelet for $5 and be able to sample all the dishes. I doubt I will go. The parking will be terrible. If you don't get there early you will have to walk a long way. The last thing I went to it took 30 minutes to even get through the front gate. I think the weather channel said there was snow in Santa Fe. Hope Carolb doesn't get caught up in snow.

I haven't heard any April Fool pranks yet. Sometimes Google has something but I don't see anything on there.

Good morning :D
Had a great dinner and visit last evening with Beth and Linda.
Today at work was going away party for supervisor as he has taken a higher position
in another school district. He was a great boss, fair and pleasant to work with, he will
be missed.
Getting a few chores done, then its back to work. Off to Superior this evening, I'm
told dinner will be ready when I get there. Being that its April fools day,,,,,,,I'm a little
suspicious as Bill is the prankster type personality, I'm almost expecting him to
pull something!
Better get busy, y'all have a great day and be safe.

Way past morning, but was thinking about all y'all, so here I am. Got a few sentences into a message and realized that I'm still in whining mode, so deleted it. Being sick for this long is not for whiny sissy babies.  Sue, I so admire the way you've moved forward with selling your house, and I'm looking forward to reading about your transition. Lots of pet stuff going on. I'm sorry for the losses and celebrate the victories. Yay, Bindi! Sarah, I'm sorry to hear that your allergies are bad. I know how debilitating it can be. What's worse? The symptoms or the side effects? Some days I'm not sure. Still cogitating on the house-selling vs fulltiming questions and doing work on the house (having it done), so that if I ever get off the dime, I can put the house on the market. Still doing medicare/medigap research. Does anybody know of a site where I can get specific info about plans and rates without talking to an agent? If I go with USAA in my area, my only choices are Aetna and Humana. I've heard terrible stories about Humana. It seems that very few doctors in this area accept it. I have unpleasant history with Aetna, so it's not high on my list. Please chime in if you have any suggestions. I want the kind of insurance that works anywhere in the country. I'm rambling. Happy trails.

Nikki, on Medicare.gov there is place to put your zip code and find policies for your area. They show what the policies cover. You can search for drug policies too. When Blue Cross quit offering the drug plan Harold had I ask our pharmacist. He recommended the Walmart plan which is really Humana. I don't know why they call it the Walmart plan because we don't use the Walmart pharmacy. I find the site confusing. For the Medigap policies I assume they mean the supplements but they list them A thru N and I don't even know which one I have. It would be nice to talk to someone who isn't trying to sell you something.

Thank you, Martha. I looked at the medicare.gov site and will go back to it. The link to the prescription policies, Part D, wasn't working, so I'll revisit that, too. Thanks for the info.
