I was up in the Chicago 'burbs last week to be with my brother after his wife died.
I met a friend at Portillo's and excited I was to do it!

Believe it or not, I was disappointed.
It wasn't as delicious as I remember.
It was good, but not that mouth-watering good that I had for it in the past.

I went last winter. As long as I stick with the Italian beef dipped with extra hot, I should be happy.

Problem is, it's not really a phone, it's a hand held computer with a phone app. They are really amazing when you think about it.

If I remember correctly, Portillo's was bought out a while back, so if it's different now ...

I didn't know that. Hmmm...I had exactly what Beth described and there was just something "missing".

The first week of August, so may be a good time around there as it's a two day drive about, from here to there and I will already be part way then. I might get into a home selling, moving thing this spring, but that would be out of the way by then. I know Eileen will be in same boat.

So, should we plan for the 2nd week of August?

Sounds good to me. My itinerary is Indian Lake SP on July 31, then to McLain SP near Hancock in the Keweenaw from Aug. 1-5 and Van Riper SP from Aug. 5-8, so I can head to WI anytime after the 7th as I will leave Van Riper on the 8th. Course if I get tangled up in moving, that will change plans. I think it will also depend on if the park you will be at, has sites available.

Keeping an eye on your plans Linda & Sue. I still have no idea where my Fall vacation will be so may tag along if possible.

I'm going to start something on the GTG thread, OK? I can check on site availability at www.deertrailparkcampground.com, after I start my job there in May. I will be working in reservations 8-)

here I was already to report or talk about something and it's gone... went and donated blood today took longer filling out forms and being interviewed and waiting for a right arm chair than the actual donation...but she said mine ran really well...only got about a page and half read...my marine granddaughter is getting married in Dec. so guess I will see snow again next year...my plans are at this time to fly up or that is too expensive to drive up...well the brain can't remember what I was going to chat about but one thing it accomplishes is bringing this to the top of the page..

I have missed the morning coffee the past couple of days. Hope you all had a great Easter. Ken and I installed the new faucet that Peerless/Delta sent me to replace my discontinued, leaky one. We couldn't find matching cone washers. Bought a couple of different replacement kits that we thought may work, but didn't. I finally said, "Why don't we just cut the pipes and replace them with the flexible ones I have that I had intended to put in someday, anyway?" I also had cut off valves. Ken said he didn't know I had them. Geesh! I told him several times. Men  It was a bit of a challenge, but we got it all installed. Met Ken's DS and BIL at the Gilbert House for lunch, today. His treat for their belated birthday gift. We had seen a food review on public television. It's in an old Sears kit house that was moved. We sat outside and it was real homey. The service was very slow and none of us were impressed with the food. Tomorrow is carpet cleaning day for Ken's RV, so think I'll take Myrtle to the truck tire place to get those inside dually valves replaced and and oil change. Gotta gear up for the journey to the midwest!

I'm shocked to see that Soos was having bypass surgery, this morning  Such a strange day. I checked my FB. There was a post on my HS class page about a classmate who missed a curve on his motorcycle and they found him dead. I don't know if you remember me dating a guy from HS, when I went back to Iowa, a couple of years ago. It was him :( I was just thinking about him when I was getting together with some of the girls from my class, out here. It just doesn't seem possible. I've been getting Myrtle ready to leave, tomorrow. Drove over to Shopper's and got the propane topped off, as I'm sure I'll need to use the furnace while traveling. I got Gertrude hooked up and I think I'm pretty much ready to roll. Just need to take my shower, tonight, so I can get a decent start in the morning. I don't have a battery for my laptop, so may not check in for awhile. I'll be on FB.

I usually sleep like a baby on the road and did until last night. I got very little sleep refused to sleep in too long winds were predicted at my destination. Little did I know that they wouldn't bother me as the last 15 miles were gravel and probably took me hour. :o But this is truly a neat place...The Toadstool Geologic Park. It's like stepping back time. But, amazingly, my cell phone works.

Because of the winds, which are here now, Peaches and I had a good hike, but not as much as I would like. Maybe, if I get a good night's sleep tonight, we can get a good one in tomorrow morning. Today is hot, tomorrow temps are dropping. I plan to go ahead get to Keystone tomorrow.

So glad Soos is doing well. I hope Patty is ok with her decisions. Truthfully, she's the only who needs be.

Had to Google Toadstool Geologic Park. Looks like a really neat place. Another one for the list.

Got the cover off of Colt today with the help of a friends son. Gave him some $ since he's out of work right now. Now folding up the cover is another story

Still on schedule to get Colt dewinterized next Friday, and planning on camping someplace. Lots of openings right now and the temps are supposed to be around 65* next weekend and sunny. Big difference from this weekend with 30*ish temps and snow covering the grass in the A.M.

Got the lawn mower started too and cut the back yard. Was to the point I may have lost Punkin because it was getting so long.

So a good day. Got things accomplished.

Glad to hear Soos in now on the mend and praying for good results for PattyK.
