Hello Spring!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Hello Spring!

Mornin' ladies ~~~

First full day of Spring meaning camping season is getting closer for us up north. Happy dance time! Up way too early. My hips were so achy I couldn't get comfortable or get back to sleep.

Wow, can't believe Beth's Minnie is already 2. Seems like you just got her. Well Mar-E (F-150) is gone and replaced by Mar-e 2.0 :) I've been thinking about getting a small run-around car because I've put 50,000+ miles on the truck in 2 years, but when I went for an oil change yesterday at the dealer, saw a newer one on the lot. After the usual service inspection, it was just about time to start putting money into repairs (battery, tires lug nuts (really!? (rusting and not holding well)), brakes and rotors. So asked about the F-150 on the lot. 2013 with 30,000 miles. Went home did some math and internet research and voila! New truck! Only difference is the dash stuff (radio buttons, etc) and a stripe with the 4X4 sticker on the side. Lowered the payment too! Not by much but one night camping each month lol Everything on the old truck transferred to the new (tire locks, tail gate lock, floor mats and the tuneau cover), so that was some money saved too. The shop guys were surprised at the tail lock so even the owner came out to see and said they should mention it to all their customers. Maybe they should put them on the trucks in the lot too, because he said one of their trucks was sitting in the lot for a week without a tailgate and no on noticed.

So today is chore day because I got nothing accomplished yesterday. Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

Morning Cheryl,

Wow, congrats on the new truck. Talk about spur of moment decisions. I will be doing same down the line here too. Glad all your accessories were able to be switched over too, as many times they change the dimensions of the truck and nothing fits. I have a tailgate lock on mine too, but it is built into the tailgate latch by GM. And what color is this one?

Darn chilly morning here, 18 degrees. High only heading to upper 30's. Frost out there too, but at least no snow. That's for the he folks out east.

Heading for church this morning and then stop at Home Depot, as need some paint to do small wall area going down basement stairs. And of course our daily walk later.

Scrambled eggs and bacon available, anybody want toast? Anybody out there ever had a radon test done for basement?

Sue,
Colt 2.0 is white. If it didn't have the strip & the 4x4 sticker, you'd never see a difference.
Never had the radon test done myself, but a townhouse owner where I used to live had it done and found a problem. It was on a slab so no basement. The fix was to somehow drill under the foundation to outside to vent to gas. And I think in IL you have to report it on sales or purchases.

Happy spring! And I see we are maybe going to have some snow showers today! But not anything like they were talking about earlier in the week! My niece was here Fri from MA and got to spend the day with her and her mom. We met up with my oldest son and his wife for dinner so that was fun. She's a special person and I'm always grateful to have her in my life. Then I spent yesterday with SIL, started out just being a trip to town to exchange a dog collar and ended up making a day of it! We spent a good amount of time at Home Goods just browsing and manage to do some damage to the checkbook! I got some new things for Lola so will have to get rid of some things too! Geez, bad enough I need to do it in the house, now I have to do it in the RV! :D I got a new side table for the living room and am getting rid of two! I'm back in the get rid of stuff again so will run with it! I know that at some point it'll get emotional and I'll have to back off but for now it feels right. Cheryl, wow, a new truck! That was a fast decision! Good for you! If it felt right, best to go for it! Sue, cold here this morning too! Spring? Today will need to be vaccuming day, started yesterday and it's sitting in the middle of the living room! Decided it was more important to spend the time with SIL, work would be here! And not to mention, more fun! Which it was! Kathleen, was glad to see you posting the other day. Miss seeing you post! So with that I'll wish you all a good day and wish you safe travels.

Good morning, packing up the car in a few minutes to head back to the valley. Its an hour drive
and I'd like to hit the valley before the heat of the day. Its confirmed now that after I retire
in February, I'll be moving in with Bill. We do have some adventures planned.
So, y'all have a great day, be safe.

Happy 1st day of spring.
Hard to believe my travel time is almost gone for this trip. Will likely be back home in about a week or 10 days if I stretch it a little more.
Started yesterday with a yoga class with Irmi and ended it watching her preform at the seasons end of karaoke , a fun evening.
Heading to bath house to wash a load of clothes and will probably get my last seafood dinner this afternoon - great restaurant near the campground.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!

Good Morning,

Hot dang, Ava!! :D Congrats on new truck, Cheryl - sometimes things just fall into place. I didn't know Irmi could sing as well as play the organ and cook!!

I looked at the U.S. Severe Weather map yesterday and saw frost warnings for part of the country - thought what the heck! When it's 90 degrees, I forget it is only March!! I thought there would be no ride yesterday, but we went out in the afternoon thinking we'd find reptiles with the hot weather - nope!

I can always find more chores to do so best get at it! Make the most of your day whatever you are doing!

Good morning, everyone.
Ava - just casually dropping that on us 8-) - Looks like you have alot to look forward to - besides retirement. :)
Sue - a high of 30? yikes - I really feel spoiled being here in Southern CA for the past 6 months. But I guess 30 without snow is a good thing in MI.
Cheryl, love the way you did that, saw it, researched it, bought it. You're my kind of gal. Sometimes spur of the moment decisions (with a touch of research added in) are the best. Happy for you.
OtherSharon, I think choosing people/visiting over work is always the best choice.
Anita, glad you turned a hot day into an adventure - even if you didnt' find any reptiles.
Carolb, good to see posts from you - just to know you're ok.
Lyn, hope April 1 comes soon & goes well for you.
Judyb, glad you made it out of the desert & thanks for the lessons learned for the rest of us.
So much going on, I've got alot more to catch up with.

Perfect weather here - actually so beautiful I can hardly believe it's real. Baby is crawling, pulling up & babbling. DIL goes back to work in mid-April so I'll have her back full-time then - getting prepared for a very mobile, adventurous little one - hope I can handle her & still work. Gaby's beau had his visa approved on St. Patty's day so he should be coming back to the states in a week or two. They have their civil ceremony planned for the same week DIL goes back to work. Should be a fun & busy week.

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day.
Take care,
Catherine

It's a beautiful day here but a little cool for us. It's 60 and I think it might go down to 38 tonight. At least it's not raining. It's not suppose to rain again until Thursday when I'm going to my campout in Natchitoches. That's about right, it's going to rain when I want to go somewhere. I would leave on Wednesday but I have an eye doctor appointment. They will dilate my eyes and I won't get out of there until about 4:00 so no sense on leaving that late.

Harold invited one of his riding buddies for lunch so we have had about 3 hours of horse talk. Whew!

Sarah, you have had a good winter traveling around in Florida. Florida is like here, first thing you know it's going to be in the 90's. I hope we have some spring and don't go into summer weather too soon.

They are building a Home Goods store in the area where the new Costco is. Something else to add to the traffic jam. I have never been in a Home Goods store but my home doesn't need any more goods. lol There is going to be another Panera Bread. I only ate at Panera once and the food was taste less. There are going to be about 15 restaurants and fast food places just in this one area.

Hi All! Just got home from my camping club's monthly outing in Chula Vista, CA (south of San Diego). A friend and I decided to go down a day early and stay one night at Silver Strand State Park Beach, which is on Coronado. Got there at 12:50 - check-in is 1:00, first come first serve basis. Would you believe the ranger made us go to the nearest parking lot and wait out the 10 minutes? Yup! When we saw a trailer head out, we followed close behind and were 2nd and 3rd in line. Would you also believe the price? $50.00 per night! Choke! Choke! BUT we discovered they had put in electric/water posts at each site so it tempered the feeling just a bit. You can make reservations on line at least 48 hrs before your planned arrival which explains that even though there were empty spaces, it didn't mean they were available. Weather was perfect. A sand berm hides the water, though. There have been some very high tides and undertows at the Calif. beaches, so I guess it was necessary. Oh, yeah, they lock the gates at 8:00 and you can't get in or out. I imagine that must be hard for anyone going out to dinner!

The club's campout was at a very nice KOA a few miles away. Lots of things for kids. Two huge (probably 60' or more) bouncy "pillows" were popular. They were located right in front of our sites so we had free entertainment all weekend! My friend decided to try it out. Came back huffing and puffing in 5 minutes to say "that is more exhausting than it looks!" Forgot about it being spring break! Amazing how many electric riding things these kids have - hover boards, scooters, etc. Full park. Great place to go with the grands, though, if you're ever in the area.

Evie, thanks for posting about Silver Strand...$50 per noc!?!?! Isn;t it just an asphalt parking lot? Gads, that's immoral. All the CA ST parks are much to much expensive as far as I'm concerned.
Katherine, my GGS is 13 months...I could never take care of him!!! Walking all over constantly and into everything. It takes a younger person to do this baby-sitting thing!!!

I know it may not be easy, Lyn. I've told them we'll give it a go but since my DIL can't get anything done while she's awake, I think they'll understand if I tell them we need to find a daycare. I don't really want to go that direction so I'll give it my best shot. She is such a delight & brings me so much joy. :D I've actually missed having her lately.
We'll see how it goes.
Stay tuned...
