Our life is in pretty much disarray right now so I cannot commit, but I will try to drive down for a visit, and maybe do the zip-line if anyone is interested.

I'm now thinking I might come. Need to do some trip research and make a little trip out of if I can get sites over Memorial Day weekend between here and there.

Eileen ~ I think Mitch is planning on doing the zip line. I was thinking about it also. If it's anything like the zip place here in Marseilles, they book quick and it's better to make reservations. Would you be tenting it? Or staying nearby? I have a couch ya know...if you can handle 2 dogs. :P

Sue ~ hope you can come. I know you really want to get east but are thinking about the truck & financials for leasing again. Plus I've gotta meet Piper!

OK - dumb newbie question ~~~

JudyJB mentioned in this morning's MC about a tank fill area. Can you usually fill up you tank at any SP? I know H2O is heavy to haul, but if I can't fill up at Giant City, where would I fill up if I don' haul it? I know I'm sounding stupid  but I've had water hook-ups where I've gone for anywhere longer than a weekend.

...and a question for Mitch ~~~ did you make a reservation for zip lining? What day? Or were you just going to see if they have a time available when we get there?

According to their website, the sites have water and electric. Is there a section without?

My site (11) just shows 30 amp & pets as far as I can tell. Unless I'm missing something (which is very possible).

Il state parks rarely have water to the site. They usually do have hydrants located throughout the park, however. Fill up at home.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Here's the camping page from their website. http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Camp/ ... tCity.aspx
It's possible the water is not at each site. But I'd call them to find out for sure.

I have made a reservation starting on the 21st for 6 nights, site # 25. It will all depend on if I am working or not, but the storm season is starting slow, so I may get lucky!
Would be great to meet everyone and have some fun. Looking forward to the trip, even meeting Mitch!

Thanks Beth. I saw that which is why I'm confuzzled. Also it did dawn on me a little while ago to try calling. I'm hoping since Giant City is in a national forest it may have the hookups most IL state parks lack.

ON EDIT: I just called the Giant City SP office. The guy said there is no water on the individual sites; however, if you are near a hydrant (I'm guessing the water spigots) you can hookp directly but you need to have a splitter. He also stated there is a dump station with non-potable water that can be used to fill your tanks when you arrive.

Gypsy glad you can make it. I'll add you to the map tonight from home.

I'm surprised they suggested using a splitter...when we were camp host that was totally not allowed one could connect to the faucet fill up and unconnect ....something to do with possibility of back washing and contaminating the supply I think but it's been years ago so might be misremembering the reason
bet it will be a fun time for you all
