Last Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Sunday

Good Morning, Good Morning,

Bit of spring fever here. Hit 50 yesterday :D wish it would stay, but alas it will be leaving. Snow/sleet on forecast, changing to rain later and then snow. Typical spring weather pattern.

The girls and I took a ride to Mackinaw City yesterday. Wanted to see if the vomiting episode Piper had coming home to her new home was just a nervous puppy reaction to dramatic change or car sickness. She did fine, so we are all set. Also wanted to go see the huge piles of ice along the shoreline of the straits. Being the lakes have not iced over this year, the high winds in the storms we have had, have caused what ice was there, to pile up against the shoreline. It's blue ice too. Quite a sight as it's over height of two story building in some places. A rare thing as straits are usually ice locked this time of year. Will post pics.

Anita, neat idea getting a higher windshield for the SS. Will be good for your big trip. I don't think you are crazy. Like Beth said, it's from those who thought you were cray to even go full timing. Those who think a women should be staying home and tending to a house and her mundane life. As to the catalog chewing, Piper is doing. No, I have no worries about anything else. It seems to be a novelty she does for just a short time in the morning. She spends most of her time chewing on her bones. The pile of catalogs she has are under my lamp table and heading to recycle anyway. She loves to drag out my boots and shoes too, but never chews them and I've noticed e that's getting old now too. Puppy has to explore her world and try things in order to gain confidence. We just steer them in the right direction.

O'Sharon, you sound like me with spring fever. Snow has been melting here too. My road is bare now except for a few small areas. But it will be awhile before we see bare ground. Going north yesterday, it was nice seeing patches though. North of the snowbelt.

Well, need to wash hair here and get dressed for mass in awhile. Have a nice day and stay safe.

Mornin' Sue and all that follow ~~~

I to was wondering about Piper's catalog chewing. Probably a pain picking up itty bitty pieces of paper tho! :D Anita, enjoy your planning and then the final cross country trip. It's your life. Enjoy! Judy, that sure is a mouthful of what you were diagnosed with. Stay in bed & get healthy.

Worried about my little buddy Zorro. He's getting old, but other than some arthritis in his back legs has been relatively healthy, but yesterday was a trip to the emergency vet. The vet & I both think he had a little stroke in his spine or other neurological episode. He got sick and basically collapsed and when standing or walking he didn't seem to be able to control his back legs. Worse on the right side. Blood work done and will get the results today. Vet also gave him a shot of fast acting steriods and he seems just about back to normal late last night and this morning. Have a vet appointment at the regular vet for Punkin's ear infection tomorrow (I think it's gone after 4 weeks), but will take Zorro instead to see what he says. ER vet will send blood work to regular vet. It may be a wait and see situation. An MRI at a canine neurologist will be about $3000. He's not in any pain and is eating and doing his business and jumped on and off the bed, so we'll see... My poor old buddy.

Can't remember everything else I've been reading...o wait...Happy 2nd Birthday to Bronc! Wow - 2 already!

Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

Good Morning, What a busy week, thank goodness one of the downed trees is all cleaned up and the cable lines reconnected!!! It took two tries to get that accomplished as they claimed they couldn't get their ladder to the pole they need to access it reconnect because of small tree limbs and brush in the way. After being without TV for a week DH was not about to let this guy leave a second time :D Fortunately the tree service guys were next door and came to the rescue. The back yard is a muddy mess and I'm hoping DH will agree to the landscaping that was recommended we needed to do for better drainage when we moved here SIXTEEN years ago. Some things take more time than others when it comes to motivating the opposite sex...

Pat, it is hard to believe Brock is having his second birthday!!! I still giggle to myself every time I think of the picture you posted of him that you sent to your son and DIL the first time they left him alone with you. :D :D Also loved the video of him riding his pony thru the restaurant/bar! So glad you are retired and have more time to spend with him.

Anita I feel sorry for the people who think you are crazy for doing the cross county trip in your SS. It is too bad they are so stuck in fear they don't understand adventure. Either that or they are jealous!

Mitzi liked to shred paper when she was a puppy Sue, I think it is just a stage some go through.

Cheryl so sorry to hear about Zorro. A similar thing happened to one of my Standards and after a shot of something,( it was around 20 years ago so I don't remember,} it never happened again so will hope for a good outcome for your buddy.

Take care all, I'm off to enjoy a bit of this sunshine while it's out.

Good Morning! Coffee is done. I have cold cereal and milk if you’re hungry. If you don’t want that you’re out of luck. I am one hurtin' unit this morning. Yesterday we had a burst of spring and it ended up being 77* that was enough to spur Jon and Faye to organize a 4 wheeling get together. About 2:00 Dennis and I met five other couples and we drove over 50 miles of pastures, hills, ravines, creek beds and low maintenance roads that were rutty and either pure mud or dusty. By the time we got home at 6:30 I was filthy and bone tired. We were supposed to go to a surprise birthday party last night but by the time we had showered there was no way that we were going to leave the house again. So I have apologies to make today. Must be getting old if I can’t handle two outings in one day! Today I’m just glad that Ashley and Ryan decided to wait until March 12th to have Bronc’s birthday party! By the way, I did buy one of those inflatable bulls for his birthday present and Dennis is going to make a bull shoot for him. So he’ll be able bull ride like those videos on Facebook.

Anita, go on your trip and enjoy yourself. To hell with what anyone else thinks! Sounds like a good time to me! (Did I really say that when my body feels like it has been through a wringer today?) :?

Sue, Radar was destruction on wheels when she was a pup. Her favorite chew toys were Ryan’s football pads and my glasses. She was an expensive little bugger. While she outgrew most of her bad habits, she still had brain farts on occasion. I think she had a don’t get mad…get even attitude.

Nothing else new. Temps are only forecasted to get in the high 40’s today with possibility of rain and high winds so it’s a good day to stay holed up at home. My load of clothes from yesterday just finished and there is still mud on the bottom of the drum….guess I’d better clean that out and run that load through again.

Have good day everyone.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good morning. A beautiful day starting here! Time to get outside and if nothing else, just wander around! Need to get some vitamin D while I can! I did go to the RV show yesterday. A little earlier then I planned but son called and asked me to have lunch with them for GS's birthday. Youngest GS had a birthday a couple of weks ago but got his present yesterday morning. He wanted a plane ride and son arranged it for him, an hour flight around the area. It was his first time to fly and he got to control the plane too! He was so excited! The pilot said he did a good job! So after lunch I went to the show. It is a very small show and they had mostly trailers and lots of campgrounds were represented! Got lots of info and may try to go to a couple of them. Some of them are a bit pricey but we'll see about a night or two. Hard to stay in one of them when we have a couple of good COE campgrounds for so much less!! But all in all, a good day. And having a day like today makes me ready to load up Lola and take off for somewhere! But sadly, more bad weather coming in mid-week. As Sue said, spring pattern. Pat, it is hard to believe Brock is 2 now! These grandkids sure grow fast! And Liz, what a fun hike you shared with us. I remmber going to a cliff dwelling near Prescott years ago. At least I think that's where it was. The name escapes me right now! Mom would pack a picnic and we would enjoy the picnic area with all the trees and cool after checking out the dwellings. Judy, hope you got a better nights sleep and are feeling better this morning! And Anita, I think your trip sounds great. The naysayers don't matter!

I slept in this morning so Imd better get a move on! Don't want to miss all the sunshine! Hope everyone has a good day and travel safe.

Good Morning,

What a lot going on! Sue, I would love to see all that ice - will Google for photos! Cheryl, sorry about the ailing babies - we've seen too much of that in the last several months. BJ, what a hassle with the trees, but thinking no TV for hubby might have been worse. Pat, those rides can wear you out! After ours yesterday, I fell asleep at the dinette around 6 last evening and woke at 8! Such fun Bronc is - miss those days. Niece just had a baby girl last week in N.C. so I'll get to visit this summer. JudyJB, have only heard of one person ill around here - doesn't mean there aren't more. That's quite a diagnosis so rest and get well. O'Sharon, your grandson must have been over the moon!

The naysayers for my ride are an aunt who no doubt thought my full timing was a mistake - can't remember. She's a bit conservative. The other was the 2nd cousin who was just here. Her comment was she and ex-husband rode motorcycles all over in her younger days and it was tiring - in other words she thinks I'm not up to it. Won't know until I try it! Thanks for all the positive comments!!

Gotta start picking up in here today as truck and trailer go to the shop on Tuesday. Usually have all day Sunday to myself, but we are riding out this afternoon after L goes to Mass to see if desert lilies are in bloom yet - think we are too early.

Make it a great day!

Trying to stop coughing long enough to post! (Went to urgent care again, as I posted yesterday late, and got advice and cough syrup.) I took codeine cough syrup last night which helped me get some sleep. But I think all the sinus drainage is in my lungs right now, so I have to cough it up. Anyway, feeling better after some sleep. Still got up five or six times, even then though.

Got a group of students going to be online in a little over an hour to give live presentations, so I hope I can make it through without too much coughing.

Lots of people going out hiking, but not me. I am staying indoors and trying to rest today!

Nice to read so many posts. Nothing exciting here. Late yesterday the person supposed to work today called me saying she wouldn't make it, car problems. So I'm working. The last couple days have been super busy, but today should be fairly quiet. I'm working on putting together information on lots of the local attractions for guests, oso should make some, maybe a lot, of headway on that.

Peaches was naughty yesterday morning. She snuck out when I was leaving for work to dig up a bone then wouldn't go back in. So I locked up and headed to work. She didn't like that at all and quickly followed me. The little bugger got stuck here about 6 hours before I had an opportunity to take her home. She's real good here, but prefers it only in short doses. This morning she didn't come near the door lol.

Today would be my mom's 100th birthday. I went to bed thinking about her and she'll be on my mind all day. I think we miss so many who leave, but moms are the hardest. After I became an adult our relationship grew into a deep friendship also. She was a very special woman and I know I'm lucky if I'm half the person she was.

About three more weeks (extended one here) I'll be back on the road. Will be too short a time, but I'm planning on a great summer in SD again.

Judy, Have you tried using Breath Right strips or some similar brand? (I use the Wal-Mart brand) They really do help with the sinus drainage and coughing during the night. It's worth a try to get a decent nights sleep. I swear by them. ;)

Judy, google N Acetyl I Cysteine for cough. If you can find it, it helps my cough which is worse when I'm sick because I have asthma. I keep a bottle on hand for such occasions. You taking Mucinex or it's generic? Helps thin that mucos. I have a regular routine of supplements I add in for colds solely because a cold aggravates my asthma. On the other hand it's been two years since I've had an illness so maybe some of what I'm doing has helped! Can't recall the last time I had to get antibiotics, maybe 5 years?

Thanks, dpf, but I really don't have much sinus drainage anymore, although I do use the strips many nights when I am stuffed up. Mostly, it is very irritated bronchial tubes and a very sore diaphragm and back muscles from coughing. I am taking brand mucinex, thessalon (SP) capsules for cough, methyl prednisone, codeine cough syrup, Sudafed, albuterol inhaler, and Zyrtec D, plus some Advil. I finished the last antibiotics, but I don't think they helped. I think I am a bit overmedicated!

I can just feel stuff in my chest and even though I am trying to drink a lot of water, it is hard to cough it all up.

I am a little better today and hopefully will be even better tomorrow.

Sounds more like overdose!? It's a wonder you are alive!! A lot of your symptoms sound like side effects of the albuterol.

Trying to analyze what Judy is taking.

I dont think taking Sudafed , a decongestant AND Zyrtec D ( the D is a decongestant ) is a good idea. I would be careful with Sudafed and other decongestants as they can raise BP. Probably take only Zyrtec if you still need it for congestion and stop Sudafed since its a duplicate of the D in Zyrtec D.
The Mucinex is good as it thins mucos without having side effects and helps cough. Make sure it's NOT Mucinex D or you would be taking a third decongestant! it's probably the safest thing you are taking, if it's plain Mucinex!
Prednisone is to reduce inflammation in lungs, be careful in slowly weaning off that at the end because depending on how long on it, you can have nasty side effects if you wean too fast ( been there done that).
Codeine has become less relied on in recent years as its proven not as effective as once thought and it is a powerful narcotic and can suppress breathing. I would only take it at night to get some sleep and stop soon as you can. And of course never drive within 8 hours of taking it!
Albuterol is to relax lungs so you can breathe, I use it as needed, it's a lifesaver but can give you rapid heart beat.
Be careful with Advil as it can mess with stomach lining and have adverse effects on kidneys.
Good you took all antibiotics. Whether you needed them or not, to avoid causing super bugs from only partially killing bacteria, it's wise to always finish antibiotics once started.
I'd keep up with prednisone and use the given weaning schedule to get off when you can.
Thessalon is interesting , I did some reading. Sedation can be a side effect so don't drive! Also dizziness! additionally it can cause nasal congestion- which you are trying to get rid of with Zyrtec! so it's weird combo.
Did ONE Dr put you on all this, or was, this the various doc in a box places added together? you definitely are taking some duplicates!
Judy if you didnt before when I mentioned it, I again suggest you take a look at J Moyers site " how I cured my asthma" you need to think of NON drug ways to begin calming your lungs. Out of his ideas, I found taking MSM and Evening Primrose to be the most help in stabilizing my lungs. I also take daily extra Vit C. And Vit D helps kill virus we encounter amd it's now known most of us are low in D. I was tested for D, began taking 2000 a day and six months later still not up enough so Dr said double it! Sounds like a lot, but in reading taking 10,000 for a few days has been showing great promise in stopping viruses. Make sure you are super hydrating, water, tea, broths. Like Beth I think said, a tsp of raw honey is quite effective for cough as well.
I also like Elderberry for stopping virus, ESP flu related. It's show in some studies to be as effective as Tamiflu! I keep Elderberry tabs in purse and syrup at home.
Hope you feel better soon.

I agree on taking the natural products. The side effects of the drugs and the adverse reactions of taking them together can cause more problems than you are trying to get rid of. Like I said before, L-Lysine can heal the irritated lining in your throat to help with the coughing. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Barbara, with Lysine it's all about stopping the virus from replicating ( growing in numbers). It's not an a natural antibiotic, as some allege, because antibiotics are for bacteria. It doesn't heal tissue, it stops virus so the bodies own defenses can take over and heal. It should be taken on an empty stomach for the few days until you feel better. Too much can strain kidneys, so anyone with compromised kidneys should be careful. I always do some research on any supplement I take. Lysine is especially helpful with Herpes cold sores and shingles. If you have strep throat its worthless because strep is bacterial. But because most of the " bugs" we encounter seem to be viral, it's worth a try.
