Really liked that one duck picture where he/she is swimming right towards the camera. Nice Beth.

Love the owl and the kestrel! I once got up close to a kestrel during a demonstration by a young man at a botanical garden in Flagstaff, and they are beautiful little birds. Don't know how you got that owl photo! Good job.

Hi Beth, thanks for the blog post. I absolutely loved spending the night at Whitewater Draw. I could hear the cranes murmuring all night long, and I walked down to the viewing area at the crack of dawn to watch them fly off. What a great place to camp!

I'm glad you found it. I can go there over and over, day trips and overnighting.

NEVER!!! What is the bird sitting on the log with a dark spot on his breast, an eye ring?, a top knot laid back? And a heavy bill? Lyn

I'm not sure. Maybe Liz or Birdie can chime in.

Looks like one of the Song Sparrow species. Or could be Savannah. I am not that good on sparrows. I don't spend a lot of time working on them. Winter plumage makes you crazy with those little guys. Breeding is much easier for ID, well that is true on most birds.
