Mornin' Donna and all who follow ~~~

Good for Pheebe! Yes, hoping the light switch continually stays on for her. Maybe the scary stuff the other day was the boost she needed that you'll always take care of her.

Chilly again here too, but to tell you the truth, I'd rather have cold than snow. At least people can still drive in cold. In the snow...we'll everyone turns into a dope.

Short week this week. Have to take Mom to a financial guy on Friday and since our wonderful DMV's were closed on Saturday for MLK holiday (yes they were closed Monday too), I still didn't get plate sticker for Colt  .

That's about it. Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Morning Donna, Cheryl and all,

So glad Pheebe is doing so good Donna. Looks like you have a camping buddy. Cheryl, you are right about people being dopes driving in snow. There was a 10 car pileup on I-75 yesterday due to drivers going way too fast on snow covered road and whiteout conditions. In another area, 10 cars went of in the ditch. Crazy people. Think they can just cruise at 70 no matter what  Hope you get your sticker for Colt soon. We have permanent plates here in MI. Pay one time and that's it. Downside is, plates are non transferable. The fee is based on how much buy your rig for. Only applies to trailers.

Read the possible GTG thread on Giant City SP. Loks really tempting. Will think on it a bit. Am also thinking PA, first part of June, so shall see. Only thing not happy about is I understand the Burnside Bridge at Antieram Battlefield is be being totally rebuilt almost, so that won't be done too soon. And that is on my want to see list. To bad no pics of the Giant City campsites.

Snow removal the chore for today. Basement is done and scrabooking under way now. Hopefully a walk this afternoon. Was snowing too hard yesterday afternoon and blowing some too.

Carolb, glad you made it to Q. Fun times starting out there. Hardee Lakes going strong to. Will check the thread.

Off to get dressed and get busy here.

Good morning to everyone. Fridgid here this morning! Like you said, Sue, better this then snow! That looks like what's coming starting Friday throughout the week end. I imagine we'll be hearing about lots of accidents. I'm like you, why do people think they can still drive 65-70 in those conditions? The state usually lowers the speed limit to 45 on the turnpike and interstates but there are still those who don't pay any attention. Me, I'll just stay home! :D Donna, great news about your pup. She must be starting to feel more secure with you. She's going to be a good travel buddy! Now if you can teach her to read a map! Going to lunch with friends today and probably do any running around done today. Have to fill the gas tank on the car, should have done it the other day. Maybe I'll treat myself and go to the full service station today! I'm loving having the garage to park it in. First winter in all the years we've lived here!

Time to finish the coffee and go get dressed for the day. Need to finish cleaning the kitchen floor, started it yesterday but it seemed to be visitor's day so it never got done! That's okay, today is soon enough! Have a fun day and travel safe.

I posted some links on the GTG thread that show the Giant City area and things to see in Southern Illinois.
This is a description from a review I found on the park
"We enjoyed our midweek stay at Giant City State Park. The grounds were clean and well kept, and the restrooms and showers were also nice. As it was April, and somewhat rainy, there were only about 4 other rigs there, so we didn't need a reservation and we could choose our own site. There was no host there, but a very friendly ranger stopped by between 5 and 6 to collect our money. There is no screening between sites, but they are all shady. If you want more privacy, get one on the edge of the campground that backs to the woods. In addition to the 85 RV sites there were maybe 12 walk in tent sites. There was one restroom building for the campground, but 2 other "vault toilets". There are water spigots in several locations. The park has very good hiking, and the campground is the trail head for the 12 mile long Red Cedar Trail. This trail also connects with a 12 mile long horse trail that can be hiked. In general, there are lots of trails out there, and a short one leads from site 20 to a fishing pond. Also, just down the campground road is a launching ramp to the Little Grassy Lake, part of the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. We will definitely come back and bring our kayaks. No review would be complete without mentioning the CCC built lodge in the park that serves a dynamite family style fried chicken dinner. (The lodge is not close to the campground,-- about 2 miles.) $20 was for an RV site, tent sites were cheaper, and there may be a discount for Illinois residents. We camped at Giant City Campground in a Motorhome."

Good morning
Well, had a lovely post all ready and poof! There it went again. I don't know what I am doing wrong with this dumb laptop.

Donna, I can tell you what has turned Pheebe around and it is 100% YOU. Your love and patience has won the day with her. I know Maggie is smiling down on you both.

My gelding Tank was a special kind of silly this morning. Since the ground froze while it was rutted from all the mud we had it is pretty hard for them to walk on it. He's been reluctant to go out the small door for a few days now. This morning when I opened his stall, he proceeded to walk down the aisle to the big door, which was partially open too. Only thing that stopped him from getting out that way was my wheelbarrow; he couldn't figure out how to squeeze past it and through the door. So he just stands there. I now have to go out the small door, around the barn, unlatch the paddock gate and somehow open the big door and move the wheelbarrow without him getting out. Good thing he was pretty calm about the whole situation and I could get a halter on him. The aisle is too narrow for him to turn around in so he would have had to back all the way up to his stall. I sure hope he isn't planning a repeat performance for tomorrow morning. What a goof!

Making chili for today. Since I have horses/kitties right before suppertime, I figured something in the crockpot was a good idea.

I've warmed up again from being outside so I guess it's time to go clean MY stalls now. Everyone take care,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good morning everyone.
Donna, very glad to hear Pheebe is settling down. You have worked wonders with her and she now knows you are the constant in her life. Good girl Pheebe.
Sue, the Burnside Bridge is still visible, albeit with some construction structures around it, just noot accessible to foot traffic. There is a whole page with pictures and progress report about the reconstruction on the NPS website.
Off to do chores round here.
Keep warm today.

Donna, those BBQ pulled pork sliders sound great! Love those! Wish I was there!

Still cold here but getting warmer each day now thru the weekend.

Nothing much going on here. Off to work in a bit. Was scheduled for a short day yesterday but ended up going back in to cover the afternoon/evening shift for a co-worker. Have tomorrow off tho.

Hope you all have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Brrrrr. We did not even get close to above freezing again today. However it was dry out so got a few errands done before tomorrows nasty weather (winter weather warning goes into effect at 3 AM for sleet/ice + maybe a little snow.) So hope forecast is wrong.

Nicky got his annual check up out of the way, prescriptions filled and a bath today. I finally got to laundromat and his RV bedding washed. An expensive fur baby day but he's good to go so another step completed for my escape.

Still fighting with insurance company to get me a bill and proof of insurance papers for vehicles. Getting the bill paid on the road no problem but no way to get the proof paperwork. It is crazy that their system cannot cope with someone wanting to pay early (not due until end of Feb which is also when current policy expires).

Brenda - things are falling into place such that I should have some overlap time with you at MacIntosh. looking forward to meeting you.

Back to work time for me.

Ditto on the "Brrrrr!" Made it to Las Vegas, and it is NOT sunny here. Been pouring down rain since I got here in early afternoon. I am camped at Red Rock with no hookups, so hope my half-tank of propane lasts all night. I hate to run my generator because of the noise, but I will probably have to do so for a couple of hours tonight. Thankfully, generator hours are continuous except from 10 pm to 6 pm, which is 500% better than the campground I got stuck at in Canada that allowed only three 1.5 hour periods per day. I roasted in the heat and finally left two days early.

I was supposed to be in ANZA Borrego this week, but since the rest of my southern California plans were cancelled, it seemed a waste to drive the extra 350 miles out of my way to go down there. I have rescheduled those days and two other campgrounds near San Diego for after spring break, when I am going to be in Anaheim with grandkids anyway. So I headed here, even though I have to head back to Napa on the 5th because I have a repeat eye photo test on the 8th. Doctor wants to see if there is any change over time period. So after that, I will be headed east again to Phoenix area. A lot of driving, but my vision is important to me, so I will do it. I had thought of flying, but feel better having my stuff and RV with me.

SO, it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow and up to 63--much better than rainy and high of 50 today!! Rest of week is at least going to be partly sunny.
