Snowy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jan 18, 2016 8:14 am

Good Morning from the snowy 45th,

Bit white out here this morning. The lake effect snow that was supposed to have come finally did. 24 hours later than forecasted  Scheduled a large are closed all over northern MI today and not because of holiday. . Lots of snow in some areas. Seems weather is the topic again lately. Time to start thinking summer doings and dream :)

Light protein breakfast here this morning, just a burger, cottage cheese and some canned peaches. Miss Molly just left for her morning nap and I am heading to the basement to finish cleaning down there, not much left to do. Have some paint sitting aside for spring hazardous waste day or a free box at a garage sale. Will have a box off stuff to donate by time I'm done, then all will be finished down there. Time for some scrapbook work after that. Next month, will start spring cleaning.

Cheryl, I have same issue with Molly waking me up in middle the night too. Most times it's cause she is warm and wants to go out on the deck for awhile  This past week though, she's been sleeping the night for the most part. I think lot of it is due to not being able to run and burn off her energy. She needs a playmate. Working on that. O'Sharon, looks like more white heading your way. Exercise time.

Q GTG is starting. Hardee Lakes sounds like they are having fun after yesterday's scary start. Hope everyone else has a good day today. Kept warm, dry, safe, well, etc.

Gmorning Sue & all to follow :)

Got snow? In some ways, I miss seeing a pretty snowy day...Crikey, what an exciting GTG at Hardee! Glad everyone is okay, & so happy to hear Pheebe is doing well! CArol, I don't know where it was posted, but little Maggie is gone? Soooo sorry to hear  And belated happy bday, Barbie:)

I'm in Q! Arrived yesterday afternoon, but felt the need for some "me" time, so I sequestered myself at Dome Rock ;) Will venture over to see the gang later this a.m. Felt just like home to be in Ava's camp driveway for a couple nights!

Tigg is doing well--took him to my Mesa vet for his one week check up. Reduced his lasix, but not soon enough--hmmm, woke up with a wet spot on my bed! First "accident" in the almost 3 wks he's been on it.

Need to get to some email I've also neglected, so will just wish y'all a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning! It's so cold out there this morning! But at least the wind quit blowing. Last night it was really howling. I think we got a little more snow then they first said we'd get. But with the wind it drifted so it's one of those days of some bare spots and some deeper to shovel! Thanks for the heads up, Sue! Looks like it is going to be a week of exercise! I can hardly wait! ;) Carolb, glad you made it to Q and are getting settled in. Don't worry, I'll send you some pics so you can enjoy the white stuff! My friends that both had knee surgeries stop by yesterday, I just held my breathe when they got out of the car, I should have spread some salt in the driveway before they came, it had a little ice from the rain the day before. Needless to say, we salted it before they left to make it a bit safer for them. My girlfriend is doing well from the ACL repair but her DH had a knee replacement so isn't as steady yet! They are leaving in a coupe of weeks for a month at Myrtle Beach so the hope is he can get his walks in and avoid cabin fever without worrying about snow and ice!

Time to get dressed and get my day started. I had to laugh a little when you said you were going to start your spring cleaning, Sue. I'm not sure of I've already started mine or if I'm finishing last year's cleaning! Have a warm day if you are in all this cold and those of you at Q and FL, enjoy!

Good Morning Everyone !!! Beautiful, if a little cool here at Hardee Lakes this morning. I'm being kind of lazy, have heater on and just enjoying my last cup of coffee after breakfast, looking out at how sunny and pretty it is in the trees.

Yes, Carolb, my Maggie has been gone almost a month, I posted a short notice on FB, sorry not on forum, it was all almost more then I could do then. All these first without her are VERY hard. Travel down here, this gtg are all first for me, I've never went anywhere without her, since my DH passed. ( Crying ) I still hear her walking at night, think of her all the time, missing her all the time and praying in time it will be easier, life does go on. Another dog right now would not suit, so please don't suggest ok ? I'll be fine, much in each day to enjoy, so that's how I keep thinking. Thank you for asking, I'm glad she is missed by others too !!!!

Now, that I've had my cry this morning, need to get out for a walk, have some inches to get off so my jeans fit again, can't afford new ones  :o

Have a great day all, those out at Q behave !! Like we will here  ;) Tina's coming this evening and you all know her and her bunch  Enjoy your day, be sure and add some fun somewhere in it!!

Stay Safe !!

Good morning
I'm sad to miss the q gtg, but I did get the leak fixed behind the toilet, so hard to get that lefty Lucy and righty tighty thing correct when your upside down and backwards. I tightened it and wrapped it with a paper towel, and its still dry! Woohoo! The next thing
on the agenda is to fuss with the fridge again. Seems its thawed again and doing more research on that, maybe the door seal which is not replaceable, ya have to buy the whole door. Or it could need the hinges retightened and that's do-able and possible
cause as I think about the times its done this is when I have the door loaded up with
bottles of liquids. The refrigerator remains a work in progress. If I have to I'll bring my other one back in from the shed.
Went to dinner and a movie the other night, saw Revenant. It was really good. My friend
Bill went hunting with his son yesterday and said he'll call me today. It all feels good but my security is always within me. I'm enjoying the extra companionship though.
The sun is up now, will get some more coffee in me and then see about the fridge.
Y'all have a great day, be safe and be warm.

Good morning, everyone. Carol I am so sorry for your loss. Words don't cover it.

Sounds like Hardee and Q GTGs are humming right along. Hope everyone has more fun than they can even imagine.

It's Monday again. Someone here mentioned a few days ago how fast time passes as we age. That feeling has been very strong for me the past few weeks. It's even a little unsettling.

I'm leaving to visit Karen W on Wednesday morning around 10:00. After a week or so back home, I'll go south to visit Birdie for a couple days. It feels good to have the energy to be on the road.

The dogs are fed; I have coffee; life is good. Normal Texas winter here. Chilly but not really cold during the day. Colder at night. I'd guess 60ish to 40ish.

Nothing new going on. Big hugs to all. Travel safe.

The Weather Channel is saying it's International Snowman Day so you ladies with snow better get busy. It looks like we will have a nice day. It got down to 37 last night instead of the freeze they said we might get.

Would sure like to be in Florida or AZ at one of the GTG's. I have a campout this weekend at Toledo Bend Lake so think I will head out on Wednesday. I have a college roommate up that way so might stop and see her if she is home. She is the world traveler so I never know where she might be.

I have finally lost the 5 pounds from Christmas but I need to try harder and do more walking. It doesn't do me any good to go shopping because I refuse to buy more fat clothes or anything any bigger.

It's hard to believe half of January is already gone. I always think about the old saying, when you're over the hill you pick up speed. lol I was in line behind a man at the drug store when he told the clerk that time sure did pass fast. I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling him that.

I don't think I ever finished my spring cleaning from last spring. I have finally had enough of Frosty and Posse pulling the curtain down in the bed room. I'm going to get the ladder out and put up the blinds I bought last year.

Morning all,
Just making MC under the wire. What a scary business with the tornadoes in FL! I knew my WRV ladies were ok, as I saw them post as much but I also have other friends in that area and I couldn't get a hold of one of them. She finally texted me back with the news that she was ok. One friend was about 1 1/2 miles from where it hit but he was ok, too. Whew!

Spent almost all day yesterday watching football! For a while there I didn't think Denver was going to pull it out but they did. Poor Seahawks just couldn't seem to get anything right (or going for that matter). I'm betting it'll be Carolina and New England for the Superbowl.

We went to breakfast with another couple and I really enjoyed it. Time came for the bill and the waitress said she didn't have one for us; our friend's friend who was also in the restaurant having breakfast had already paid our bill! How nice! So we all stopped by his table to say thanks and shake his hand.

Cancelled all my walkies for today; it's so cold, I wasn't sure I'd even let the horses out of the barn. Being as they are down in a hollow and protected from wind, have plenty to eat and drink and the sun's out I did let them outside. They were not so excited about it; my gelding Tank just stood in his stall doorway looking out the barn door like, "you want me to go where?" He finally did move but stood just outside the door so poor Cody couldn't get out too. I had to go "encourage" him to move so she could get out. The dogs have been inside since yesterday (Miss Molly is now an all the time house dog) and they go in and out with me when I do. Right now, Shooter is laying here next to me in a spot of sunshine! Smart boy.

DH has been talking about retirement, he'll be 62 this year. Then he read an article in the AARP magazine about how he'd lose money by going early. He said he had no idea it would be cut by that much. I went on the SSA website and used their estimator, yep, he'd lose a big chunk. Guess there goes his plans for early retirement. I also need to look into filing for his pension because one of his old co-workers told us the pension's underfunded and could run out. So I have to call CA today.

Time to go feed horses their lunch and let the dogs go potty. Everyone take care.

Now I remember why it has taken me so long to put the blind up. It took me an hour to find a screw driver that fit the odd ball screws they put the mini blinds up with. I didn't think I was ever going to get the old screws out. I think I'll put roman shades in the living room. One plus, I found my son's lifetime fishing license when I was moving things. I thought we were going to have to apply for a new card.

About 6 PM and in 20s with single digit wind chill. Actual temp down to 12 tonight.
After feeling yuky all last week went back to doctor today - more steroids. Beginning to question the wisdom of my decision at not starting weekly allergy shots so I could still make my FL trip (will start them when I return). Doctor reminded me there was just not anything left to try. Anyway over the past year I've gone from rarely taking more than a daily blood pressure pill to what may take a shoe box to pack an assortment of allergy meds and nose sprays.
Was surprised when I went to vacuum Magic last week that the guys were still out with fire hoses trying to finish cleaning roads and parking lot on marina side of park. On the campground side guy was speeding around on riding lawn mower chopping up leaves and of course he kept circling Magic throwing leaf mold and dried river muck into the air. Think that is what got me down again with this severely stopped up head.
Still have to get Nicky to vet for his annual check up this week.
Bad as I hate taking steroids must admit am feeling better tonight from the shot this afternoon. Think the weight gain is what I hate the most as I have worked hard to get it down and so want to loose a little more. With any luck I can get back to walking a bit while in FL.
Have a good evening.
