Wintery Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wintery Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jan 11, 2016 7:46 am

Good Morning from the chilly 45th,

Bit on the chilly side out here. -2 below wind chill right now, with lake effect snow falling. Probably another 3-4 inches on top of the 6-7 we had yesterday and another 3-6 supposedly again tonight when the clipper comes through. . So I will be getting my exercise out there. Cleared snow in my drive, yard area and deck yesterday, but waiting for county plow to clear road, so I can get my blower to neighbor's and get hers done. Otherwise I'll just have to blow my way over there. The snow lovers are going to be very happy as are a lot of kids. Schools are closed in th entire northern Michigan area today. One nice advantage to all this snow and exercise, Weight loss down to 21 pounds now.

Cheryl, Punkin might not be familiar with snow if he came from the south. Probably fun stuff for him. Molly was out running through it yesterday too, just having a ball out there. She's been busy laying out her trail network again and snow ramps to and from the deck. Martha, laughed at your description of the cat crazies. Guess some just never grow up. Judy, glad your son is dong better and hopefully heading hone before long. Beth, sounds like an interesting place you are working at.

Nothing earth shaking on agenda today other than snow clearing again. Probably finish up another section of my basement insulation project I am doing. Running out of material, so will pick up some when I go to town later this week. Have a jigsaw puzzle to glue down to a piece of fiberboard too. Justbuttsy stuff.

So just want to say hi this morning. Keep warm, those of you in the cold, travel safe and njoying your day whatever it leads to.

Mornin' Sue and all that follow ~~~

Yes Punkin definitely likes snow, but instead of doing his business, silly dog has to sniff in every paw print in the back yard which may for long 'quick potties'.

Didn't get as much accomplished on the weekend as I wanted and also had to go to Petco since the guy didn't write on the form what day Punkin's training starts (next Sunday). Still don't agree with having to prove to the rescue that his went to training  but the trainer did say he's already on week 2 (out of 6) for what he can do so far.

Eileen - saw that you're still planning on the February RV show. Do you know what day. I like Fridays (obviously not as crowded).

Not much else going on. Have a good day everyone & stay safe on the roads.

Gmorning Sue & Cheryl & all to follow :)

My subject for today would be "Monday at Martha's"!! Arrived here yesterday afternoon, great to see her again:) Thanks for the plug in, Martha--I was toasty warm all night, temp down to 33 this a.m. Nothing compared to temps up north though!

Sorry I'd been awol the past few days  Thanks for all your good wished for Tigg:) He's doing fine, but will be on meds the rest of his life for congestive heart failure. Vet says he still has many good years in him:) Except for his cough which has subsided considerably, he's always been my happy little boy.

Judy, glad to hear son has improved! And you've been such a big help to him & his family--thankfully you were there:)

So many plans for spring right around the corner. Yes, Sue, OSharon is right--I'm available for a gtg when you make it to the New England area. In the meantime, I'm making progress towards AZ, looking forward to seeing all of those who are there this winter. Will miss Sheila:(

Martha, how about we venture down to your pond today??

Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Well, winter arrived overnight Saturday and what a shock. We've had such warm temps so far that waking up to single digits and a dusting of snow was rather chilling  The dogs are even cutting their yard inspection tours a bit short. Mitzi and Toby may want a sweater after I get done with grooming them as they both have hair issues...read impossible mats that will require rather drastic measures. Toby isn't too bad just a couple on his front legs but Mitzi ACK While I love the Havanese breed, their coats tangle so fast especially when they are young I find it impossible to keep them combed out.
Not much happening today, yoga and maybe lunch with a friend and getting more 'stuff' organized to put on eBay. I have been selling off and on for many years on eBay but find it very difficult now with all their so called improvements. I don't know if it is my computer or their site but it takes me forever to list an item. It will all of a sudden ask if you want to leave the page you are on or just sit with a little symbol spinning for several minutes. I have to just go do something else and wait it out.
Take care and enjoy the day. I'm glad we don't have snow like Sue is dealing with!!! Carolb and Martha have a great visit!

Good Monday morning to everyone! You nailed it, Sue, winter is here! Good job with your weight loss! I decided to go to Clearfield yesterday for a Wal Mart run, it was 47 and rainy when I left....couple hours later it was 34, snowy and windy. The wind howled all night with snow. I figured I would have to shovel today but everything is clear. No complaint from me! But the cold temps sound like they're here for awhile! More snow in the forecast for tomorrow but "they" say less then an inch! I have to be out in it tomorrow since I have a couple of appointments but at least they are here in town so I won't have far to go. Carolb, glad you made it to Martha's. Have a good visit! Kathleen, hope everything is okay with your kitten. And Judy, glad to hear your son is doing better. Hope evcerything goes well with storing to trailer. And Pat, congrats on your retirement! I often wonder how I got everything done when I worked! Guess I didn't procrastinate like I tend to do now! I spent an hour on the phone with LG yesterday and I hope we fixed the problem with the remote. Are televisions supposed to be smarter then the operator? Nowdays I guess they are! Doesn't say much for my tech knowledge!! Donna, glad you and Pheebe are starting to work things out. It just takes time and like people, pets are different too. And I feel for you with your dad, been there and done it with my mom.

Well, enough rambling from me! I need to get some things done today. Went looking for something last night and cleaned out a bunch of stuff from the drawers so now I need to finish that and throw away the pile of stuff I dumped on the floor! Why I started that at 10:00 at night is beyond me!! Anyway, hope you all have a great day!

Not much snow here but terribly cold! Zero with a -20 below windchill. Brrr!

Still hotter than blazes in my apartment. Had my window open all night and only got down to 76 degrees. Hope they get the thermostat hooked up today.

Got a lot done on my autobiography last night. Wish I had started on it sooner but it is always hard to first start a new project. Just didn't know where to start but now that I have, i should be able to get a lot done now. Still have a long ways to go tho!

Am at work right now but it is really dead. Am on a split so will have the afternoon off.

Kathleen, I hope your kitten will be Ok. I had a wonderful cat years ago who was born with several birth defects. He was one of he best cats i ever had, a Maine Coon. He only lived to 6 years old tho. So sad!

Hope the rest of you have a good day! :P
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Morning everyone. Not a thing to say this morning. Pinched nerve in hip isn't improving. Last night I thought I was through it, but pain woke me very early this morning. Guess I need to be more careful about irritating it. That means being aware of how I'm sitting more than anything. Have to learn to keep my legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor. Hard habit to break after so many years. I've never paid much attention to aging, but I think it's got my attention. I need to find a doctor, haven't been to one is a very very very long time. Does anybody know how health insurance works once I quality for medicare in October? Someone just told me that many doctors don't accept medicare. Does that mean that most older people buy additional insurance? I do know that there are supplemental plans. Or do they just not go to doctors? I need to do the research. Guess I do have something to say this morning.

Safe travels to everyone. Stay warm out there.

Nikki,
My Mom's on Medicare and needs supplemental insurance too. Medicare does not cover everything and yes, I've seen in doctor's offices also that some do not accept medicare.

My advice, find a doctor that accepts Medicare and get supplemental insurance. I think you'll need both.

Nikki, I have only encountered one doctor that did not accept Medicare. Remember that you need regular Medicare and a Part C that lets you pick doctors anywhere in the country. You don't want one that limits you to a specific area.

Son was released yesterday and we are all back on the road. He is still on heavy pain pills but we managed to move trailer to storage and hook and unhook. They are headed home to join kids. I am headed to COE campground and then Napa for weekend. After that I am headed to Las Vegas.

I wanted to change my gynocologist to a woman doctor because I didn't like the last doctor I saw. I think I called every woman doctor in Lafayette and not one would take Medicare. I was with the same group of 4 doctors for 40 years. One retired so started seeing another and he died. Three years ago I saw one of the 2 left. They never told me anything about Medicare probably because I have been going there so long. Anyway, I ended up making an appointment with the one I didn't like because I don't have much choice. Harold is on Medicare and we have never had a problem finding a doctor for him.

You better do some research Nikki so you will know what you need. Medicare only pays 80% of their approved part which is less than the doctors charge. The supplement will pay 20% of what Medicare approves. I don't know if you can get a supplement that includes drugs but we have another policy for prescriptions. We had some kind of mix up when Harold was changing from my work insurance and he has to pay a $2.00 late enrollment fee on the drug policy. I can't find the bill for the supplement but I don't think he was late signing up for that. Find out what you need and be ready. The late fee wasn't just for a year it's forever.
