Second Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Second Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jan 09, 2016 8:09 am

Good Morning all,

Second Saturday of January already. Heading for mid month and seems like it was just New Year's Day. Also big Winter storm heading east too. Guess you are going to have to cover your Charlie Brown orange tree, Martha. Hope you got Magic all snug Sarah. The rest of us will need snow shovels, blowers etc. Winter Storm Warning in effect here from late afternoon till tomorrow night. So guess Miss Molly and I will have to enjoy our walk today as won't get one tomorrow. Now, how do you explain that to a dog who thinks nothing of bounding in snow that you can have difficulty walking through. But "mom" this is fun

Speaking of dogs, hope Tiggs is feeling better Carolb and the X-rays show something. O'Sharon and Brendac, I like the idea of GTG in PA. Antietam is on of the sites on my list too. Won't be able to leave here till end of May as have a seminar on changes to my Blue Cross insurance to attend. JudyJB, glad to hear your son is improving. Tina, hope your rig is all set so you can head south. As the saying goes, If you want to play, you gotta pay

Nothing much on agenda today. Work down in basement for awhile, afternoon walk, gotta cancel appt. to get hair cut tomorrow, maybe some trip planning and should get scrapbook stuuff out too. Work in it while the storm blows tomorrow.

So ladies, stay warm, dry, safe and whatever else. So many weather extremes going on hard to know who's affected or not.

Mornin' Sue and all who follow ~~~
Nothing major on the agenda today. Going to see how crowded the DMV is because Colt's plate expired and the wonderful state of IL is no long sending out notices about renewals. Saw on the news today that expired plates tickets are $100 fine.

Supposed to get some snow today. Roughly 3" where I am, and hearing possibly 7" in northern IN. Can't really complain about the winter so far, and glad the snow is on a weekend instead of during work week.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

Good morning, Sue and all to follow. Sounds like you're getting ready for the snow! Laughed at what you said about Molly, guess not much stops our pups from having fun! My guys love to run around in the white stuff! Judy, hope your son is ready to travel soon and is feeling better. Brenda and Sue, a gtg sounds like fun! I wondered if Lori would be back by the time you are here. Something to think about this winter! Jello plans! Nikki, sometimes the hardest thing is deciding what to get rid of but surprising once it's gone, for me, a sense of relief. I have had Salvation Army come with their truck to pick up stuff a couple of times and in a strange way it was fun! And the thought of trying to sell, yuck! I had a dealer come in and they basically said that I'd be better to donate most of the things I want to get rid of.

Well, guess it's time to get my day started! Laundry needs to be done today and get some cleaning done. It never ends! maybe now that it's getting colder the dogs won't be bringing in the dirt on their feet! I'm kinda looking forward to the ground freezing! Have a good day and hope everyone in the path(s) of these storms, be safe.

Good morning
I am thankful for some sunshine today, will hopefully get caught up on some chores.
I am seriously not a cold weather person. I need electric socks but then I'd probably trip over the cord and break a hip.
Will get laundry started soon as it warms up enough in here to come out of my blanket, and when the outside temps get warm enough I'll yank out the weeds along the edge of the driveway before I get a notice. All the rain this week made them grow fast.!
Nothing else on my mind, y'all have a great day.

Good Morning from Salome, AZ,

Lots going on - Liz and Sandi are here, I'm looking forward to some desert walks, but I also have a ton of chores. I want to sort everything in storage so I can clear it out - I got the unit when I sold the 5er. Saved stuff will go to Washington and the rest will be gotten rid of some how. It doesn't all have to be done right now, but I thought I might find some things someone might want at the Q GTG next week.

I took the SS in yesterday due to the engine noise picked up in Texas. Turns out it is a vibrating muffler next to the engine - springs holding it have loosened. I missed some great riding in Texas that I didn't have to! Have an appointment Wednesday to have a better hitch installed on the truck and to have the trailer looked at for various issues.

Summer plans are starting to be set - SS rally in Maggie Valley, N.C. in early June; Baseball Hall of Fame induction of Ken Griffey, Jr. toward the end July - have reservations for both. Now a Booze and Blues SS rally in Southern Virginia in Sept. (not committed to that). Thinking Florida for a time next winter and then Texas.

Carolb, wonder when you will make it here! Hope you get some answers for Tig!

With all the crazy weather, everyone stay safe!

All loaded except the dogs (and this computer and MIFI  ) ......just in time. Weather reports say snow coming through Sunday morning and the temps dropping to 18 degrees. By tonight I expect to be in Raccoon Valley Escapees Park just north of Knoxville. :)

Got the whole weekend off! Yay! Yesterday I took my dad to the doctor, store and bank. Then met up with a friend for lunch who I haven't seen for a long time! Was nice to get caught up!

Today and tomorrow will be relaxing and getting a few little projects started. No cleaning or laundry this weekend! Yay!

Have an interesting problem...The maintenance guy switched our heat from forced air to baseboard heat for the winter. I guess the forced air heating system I have won't work once it gets near zero outside so they switch it over. Well now it is about 80 degrees in here even with the thermostat set down now to 60. Doesn't seem to want to shut off! So I have had my windows open all night to cool it off in here. It is about 4 degrees outside right now and still feels warm in here! Will have to talk to MM later about it and find out what is wrong.

No snow expected here, just below zero temps and windchills for the next week or so. Brrr! (outside anyways! ). The Vikings/Seahawks game tomorrow will be one of the coldest games played on record! The Vikes are still using the UofM outdoor stadium this year until their new fancy (expensive! ) indoor stadium is completed for next season. I sure wouldn't want to be at that game!

Hope you all are safe, warm, cozy and dry this weekend! And get or stay well! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Son is walking around a little but still on morphine. Hopefully, he can cut that down today, but an endoscopy and surgery on two days in a row have really messed him up. Once he gets out of the hospital, we hope he can show us how to hook up so we can drive his trailer to storage. Wife has everything packed up to go, but even after he is discharged, we will have to spend a night here to make sure he is OK to ride home.

Not much else going on other than going to the hospital to stay with him. Might go out to dinner with DIL tonight again--nice restaurant here at campground.

Well ladies….I am done! Retired! I wonder how long it’s going to take before it actually hits me! This morning I have been trying to do everything I normally have to do on a weekend to catch up…even caught myself thinking about what I could make for meals this weekend that could leave me leftovers to take for lunch next week! I don’t have to get to the post office on Saturday between 9:30 and 10 or to the bank before 11:00 anymore. It’s going to take some adjusting on my part.

Yesterday was a bittersweet day at work. It was extremely hard to say goodbye to some of my workers. Yes, there were tears in my eyes. I know that is hard to understand since they are inmates, but some of them have worked for me a long time. And while they have done some pretty awful things once they were off the drugs and alcohol they were actually pretty decent. Thursday I was asked if I would consider taking a volunteer position in the Alternative to Violence Program that meets once a month. The main facilitator came to the shops to ask me about it and I guess several of the unit managers and inmates had suggested me because I always was able to maintain an excellent rapport with my workers. I have to think about it. :?

My friends were going to surprise me in the parking lot as I left work. However it backfired. They were waiting for me in the main parking lot where the shift staff parks and I was in the back parking lot where in the day staff parks! They had balloons and banners already….I was half way home before Missy called and asked where I was. Feel really bad about that because two of them took time off work! But we celebrated last night!

So ladies….Camp Cihak is going to be available with onsite staff all the time. No more requesting that you show up on weekends so I have time to spend with you! :D
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good Afternoon from Bloomington... we may get snow.... will not stick as the ground is too warm..

Princess is doing better... I went to a specialty pet store and got new litter and food also some canned food for her... Last night she only did her business in the litter... so happy... she is coming out of her sadness... I also got a laser light, she loves it as most cats do... gives her a play time... Thanks to BJ I am using the vinegar and it truly kills the odor... and Sarah for such great sites she sends to me... it has been years since I had a kitten...

Yesterday I did the yearly mamo then came home for a few minutes... Princess and I sat down for a bit and we both fell asleep and woke up at 5... oh oh not good whole day wasted...

time to get moving... have a wonderful day everyone...
Kathleen or Kathy

We were under a tornado watch last night with strong winds and hail predicted. We got about an inch of rain and the rest of it went North of us. It is starting to get muddy around here. The sun is out and it's 68 today. I'm not sure when the cold front is coming through but it will be getting colder sometime. I hope Tina doesn't hit any bad weather. It looks like rain is headed her way. Yes Sue, I will have to cover my orange tree again. Some people have huge orange trees around here and the only time I was able to finally get one going good Hurricane Rita took it out. That and my fig tree.

I need to clean house but would rather run the roads. My friend has been on a cruise all week and they should be getting home tomorrow. They finally gave up trying to get me to go. Since the problems the cruise ships have been having Harold doesn't want to hear about me going on a cruise. Two cruises were enough for me. Too many people. The only one that I would consider going on is the one that goes up the West coast to Alaska. I get catalogs for the river cruises. Those look interesting but are very expensive.

Yea, Pat made it. About the only thing you will miss about work is friends.

Kathleen, glad you are getting along better with you kitten. Hope she doesn't have any health problems. There is a tom cat hanging around here. He is the same color as one of our cats so Harold hasn't noticed him yet. He is tame enough to pet. I don't know who he could belong to because our neighbors don't like cats. I have offered him food but he won't eat it. He's not skinny so someone is feeding him. If he hangs around here very long he will take a trip to the spay and neuter clinic. I don't want him fighting with our cats.

I'm wondering about Carolb and Trigg too. Haven't heard when she will be headed this way.
