Saturday so

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday so

Postby carolb » Sat Jan 02, 2016 5:08 am

good morning all :-)

Happy new year! so the holidays are over, and time to reflect on the past year, and dream of the year to come :-)

I left my sisters yesterday, stops to get a hug from Irmu before I headed out. After spending so much time in Florida, I was in tears to leave :-(. That is what happens when I stay somewhere too long.

I made it to Pensacola, almost. Another 350 miles to go to meet up with a Roadtrek Friend in Baton Rouge area. Martha, I hope to see you by the end of the week. Hank will be happy to see my puppers?

Okay, you all have a good day getting yourselves back to normal and be safe always :-).

Good morning Carolb.... was sad to see you leave too but I know you must move on headed to your winter fun.... looks like we are going to get a cool down and several days of rain....Pheebe is pretty much the same... but now after 3 weeks she has decided she does not like cars anymore then she does people and wants to chase after them.... we are pretty much just walking around the yard and not so much in the street.... I guess I'll be working inside the rig cleaning and I want to sort out the cupboards take stuff out I have never used but I thought I needed and get ready to go to Hardee Lakes... all for now have a good one & B safe...donna

God Morning,

Yep, holidays over, new year is here, time to start fresh and dream. Safe travels to you Carolb. Better get over the Mississippi before all the flood waters get down that way. Hope you get to see Martha and hubby. Donna, don't avoid people, when Phoebe wants to chase them, just get firm grip on leash and make her stay with you. A pocketful of treats goes a long way.

Started in basement yesterday. Made a little progress with insulation. One area around hot water heater, furnace almost impossible so let it go. It's fine. Have insulation all along the rim joists but replacing some areas with foam and then putting insulation over it. But pipes from hot water heat system get in way in the furnace area. So today, will continue on till I run out of foam. And of course, the afternoon walk as well.

Wishing you all a nice day today, be safe on the roads out here, enjoy your travels. Those who are having health issues or family members with them, hope you get to feeling better. And those who have lost furry companions, hope a new furry friend comes your way this year.

Good morning Carol, Donna, Sue and all who follow. Hope everyone slept well.

It's still raining here but not storming, and I haven't found more water where it doesn't belong in the RV. I guess I'll just do repairs when everything is dry. Frustrating.
Nothing new going on here, so I won't ramble.

Travel safe, Carol. Donna, I hope Pheebe responds soon. Sue, you are insulating your basement by yourself? If so, you rock! Even if you have help or are just writing the check, you still rock!

Watched the Rose parade yesterday. Farmers Insurance had the float with the RV pulling a trailer pul!ling a boat. Was really cute!

Set up my new tent in the laundry room and videotaped it. Was very happy about how easy and fast it went up. Looked real nice and spacious. However, last night when i was looking at the video, something didn't look right with the door flap. So will have to set it up again and take a look at that.

Sunny but cold today. Am at work right now but so far it is very quiet. Will be a slow day.

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Morning all!

Happy New Year + 1 day! Yesterday's family gtg went over wonderfully! I put a short video on FB on my page for my niece to see. Party was on the small side for us, only 20 people.

Not sure where today may lead; have a great-nephew's birthday party so I need to get going before then. Have some laundry to finish up and beds still to be made. I hear DH downstairs making noise, he's home from hunting, so should go see what his plans for the day are, too.

Everyone take care,
Kathy

Mornin' ladies~~~

Sun!...Finally! It's been overcast for so long, I can't remember the last time I saw sun. It's cold but at least not dreary.

Doing a little training with Punkin every day and can see some improvements, but still a lot of puppy brain there. I did sign him up for training at Petco because proof of training is part of his adoption process. Always trained my dogs myself, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I have 6 months to do it, but he starts on 1/10. They make it so hard for anyone to adopt nowadays. Between the price, references, home inspections, etc. I can understand how puppy mills stay in business. Some people probably give up on the hassle of adopting and just go to the pet store. There has got to be a happy medium somewhere.

Not sure what's on the agenda today, thinking a mini-walk in the forest preserve so Punkin can get the feeling of hiking. I can take the short trail, maybe only 1/2 mile. Also thinking of just wandering the pet store for some socialization. I heard again the dog flu is bad again in Chitown this year, so an iffy on taking him to the dog park. Can you tell I'm in doggy mode?

Need to figure out where the heck I'm going for May vacay. Southern IL is the probable direction, just no clue where yet.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the road. Anyone in the south please be safe with all of the flooding going on.

Son #1 brought me coffee in bed this morning. Did I train the man well or what? Then drank his with me, and we talked about Mao for an hour before I even got up. What a morning!

Going to a Twelfth Night party tonight. Ok, it's not really 12th night -- but it is Saturday! :D

Bright and sunny here but cold. Hope everyone had a good start to the New Year. I went out for New Year's Eve and it was not a fun evening. Band was too loud and they had changed the seating arrangement from last year. No chairs on bottom floor and if you sat upstairs, as we ended up doing, you couldn't see the dance floor or talk over the band. Lots of disappointed people as it was such a good time last year. The music however was very good. I was the designated driver or would have left after the first hour. Thank goodness it started early and at ten my riders were ready to go to another venue. I dropped them off and went home as there was another designated driver there to take over.

Donna I keep thinking about your problems with Pheebe, sometimes we just have to decide whether we have the time, energy or money to invest in a rescue. Some dogs are not capable of changing due to either their lack of early socialization or their breeding. My Toby is an example, although he is not a rescue, the breeder was apparently only into looks and not personality. His issues aren't as extreme as Pheebes but they are still hard to live with. He is very aggressive to other dogs but where we live it is manageable. I can't have him travel with me though. My DH did not want to send him to a trainer which was a mistake. If you have the money available to place her with a trainer or even to have her evaluated that would give you a better idea of where you stand with her. It takes specific training to rehab a dog with extreme issues. Having an evaluation would give you an idea of what your options are.

Martha I too heard Dillards calling. I was there the day before the sale and a lot of merchandise had already been marked down, except the one thing I wanted. I resisted but thinking of going back today. :D

Hoping my posting problems are fixed permanently. Had a great New Years Eve dancing at our pool party and then bringing in 2016 at the beach watching fireworks. Still in Sarasota til 3/9 when we leave to take #2 and #3 grandkids on their trip. They chose a 12 day Mediterranean cruise in March (the only month available for #2) and then some day trips out of Barcelona. After that, camping in FL and traveling north towards Canada for the summer. Those plans are usually drowning in jello  I will rewish you all a wonderful New Year since that post as well as all the others were "lost". carold

Yea, Carolb is coming. Hank doesn't get many visitors so he will be happy. If you have a camping friend in Baton Rouge tell her about the Louisiana Belles group. We are always looking for Louisiana women to join us. We have members from Texas and Mississippi too. Some of the campouts are close to Baton Rouge and in Mississippi.

Donna, if you can't get Pheebe's attention off cars with treats maybe try a water spray. Some of my friends that camp with dogs use a spray bottle and all they have to do most of the time is just pick up the bottle and the dogs stop barking.

I went out in my robe to put the trash out before the truck passes. I was complaining about it being cold and my son told me, well it is January. That kind of surprised me but he's right. It's suppose to freeze Monday night but probably not this far South. But, I'll have to cover my "Carlie Brown orange tree".

Every morning it takes me a few minutes to figure out what day of the week it is. New Years's day seemed like a Sunday so I thought it should be Monday. I am really going to be confused this coming week.

Nicki, if it's raining where you are then I guess it's headed for us. It rained almost all day yesterday. The sun was out for about 5 minutes but it's gray again.

Kathy, you sound like my neighbor. Most holidays their yard is full of cars. I don't know how she feeds that many people. If I had 20 people here my DH would be else where.

I am kind of suspicious of some of these pet rescues. After reading about some of the hoops they want people to jump through and the end price most people would give up. Most would not let someone that full times in an RV adopt a dog because they don't have a fenced yard. Dogs that are adopted by RVer's couldn't ask for a better life. Making you take a training class is a bit much. When RV Sue was looking for a dog some of the shelters let the rescues have first choice before any one else and the rescues wanted a lot of money for a dog.

BJ, I didn't make it to Dillards either. My friend called to tell me what a mad house it was and I decided I didn't need to get involved in that. She said there were clothes all over the floor and it took forever to get a clerk to go get a pair of shoes to try on. People were parked out past the road that circles the mall. Too much for me.

The CORAD weather map has the storm heading east along the gulf. I think that means more wet weather coming your way.

When my son lost his black Lab to cancer, we started looking for another dog for him. We checked every rescue within driving distance. Like Martha said, the hoops they make you jump through for a dog and the price they ask, made us find a breeder.

Good evening.
Cannot believe I spent much of new years eve and day cooking and cleaning kitchen - totally out of character for me. At least if I can take left overs that long, should not have to cook any more this week.
Sun actually put in an appearance today but without warmth. In fact just heard that we could be as much as 25 degrees below normal most of Jan. Still dealing with flood aftermath and looks like maybe Wednesday before Campground reopens and I can try to check Magic out.
Got first of month bills paid today; not much else however. Like Martha, I thought it was Monday. Made trip to bank and post office before I figured out it is Saturday.
