Thursday, New Years Eve Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday, New Years Eve Day

Postby Colliemom » Thu Dec 31, 2015 8:24 am

Good Morning all,

Well, here we are, the last day of 2015. Anybody have anything they said they wanted to do this year, you have till midnight to do it  Time to think back over the year, all the good things and bad. Been a great year for me, but I know not so for some of you.

Nothing going to happen here today or tonight either. Same old. Haven't stayed up for the midnight hour in a few years. Will be same out there when I get up as it was when I went to bed. Am thinking a pizza might be good tonight. Will pick one up today while in town and just reheat what I want later . And then have a piece of cake, the last sweet thing for this year. No more till I reach my diet goal. I am going in to the New Year with a weight loss of 18 pounds so far. Neighbor and I are keeping on track and every day we report our weight to each other. Keeps us motivated and on track. She's doing a bit better than I am at the moment, but we are all different.

So, heading to town in a bit here. Need to go to Chiroopractor as knee cap has slipped out of place, so need to get it put back where it belongs. Then off to run some errands. Finished up a cute little snowman jigsaw puzzle yesterday and decided I want to preserve it. So will see about getting some glue to put over it. I can use Mod Podge if need be. Then will deal with getting it framed. Be cute for a winter picture. Found a company online that makes puzzles from your pictures and want to see if one of mine from Grand Teton NP can be done.

Dreadful flooding going on in the central plains and will eventually move south. Hope none of our forum sisters are in those areas. Going to be a real mess especially if cold air moves in. Also see that northern Florida panhandle is getting it too as well as AL.

You all have a good day out there. Keep safe if traveling anywhere. Getting a bit dangerous on those roads of late with all the water, snows etc. If under the weather or having other health issues, hope you get on the mend.

Good morning to all. It is hard to believe that another year has passed already. It is true that time goes faster the older you get. I didn't believe my Mom when she told me that. Tomorrow will be Bill and my 51 anniversary. Those 27 and 29 year olds are still in our minds, but some days the 77/79 year olds reminds us of how many years have passed.
We have no plans for tonight - don't like being on the road with the partyers.
Been seeing on the Mexican news about the weather in the US. Even here in Mexico roads are closed because of deep snow. Especially near the Texas border. And it is warmer in southern Indiana than in Vegas.
The 29th it was 9 years since the loss of one of our sons - but this year we had something to celebrate - our 6th great grandchild was born on the 29. She and her mom are doing great.
A year ago we were here in Mexico with a home in Indiana and me with pain whenever I moved. This year we are again in Mexico but our home is in Vegas and I am without pain since surgery. After leaving Indiana Bill's allergies all but disappeared so he can breath without problems. What a difference a year makes.
Happy New Year to everyone - and may it be the best one yet.

Good morning, everyone. Didn't wake up before dawn this morning, so feel more rested. I wonder what it is that causes these periods of sleeplessness, especially as I get older.

New Year's Eve! Didn't we just do this? I'll have freaked out dogs tonight. Boomies scare them both. I start my first online design class in a few days. Real excited about that. The range and quality of online courses gets better every year.

Everybody have a happy and safe day. Happy New Year to you all.

Good Morning and it's above freezing!

Sandi, Liz and I have a cavern tour at 9 a.m. After reading of Liz's hikes over the past few years, I got to go on a hike with her and Thistle yesterday! I just admire that she gets out and goes!

Yesterday we went out to lunch in Benson at the Horseshoe Café and stopped at WalMart.

Nikki, I keep thinking about your comments about the open carry law. You have probably been next to rednecks carrying guns all along, now they'll just be visible so you'll know for sure! :D

Sarah, thinking good thoughts for you.

Wishing you all everything good in 2016! Happy New Year!!

Good morning
Cold and cloudy end to the year but it is NOT raining!
Did not get to much of my to do list yesterday due to unexpected efforts to find plumber and pump to address problems with flooded basement at rental house. By 9:00 PM there was a new pump installed and water being pumped out.
A quite at home New Years Eve planned.

Sue, congratulations on your weight loss! A wonderful thing to do!
We are glad here to see the end of 2015, the year of two cancers treated and hopefully defeated. Good riddance to them both! Hoping for a year ahead of better health and fitness. I have gotten where much of the week I can manage over 5000 steps per day just in every day activity so hoping to continue that and push onward towards daily average of 7000.
Praying all I know stay safe from floods, ice, snow and overall bad weather. Here in northern CA it's sunny and bright with rain next week they say.
We plan a quiet evening of appetizers and a movie or Scrabble and enjoy each others company. Our MN son finally called yesterday to wish us Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. He says some snow where they are and more predicted.
Happy New Year to all my RV friends here wherever you are today!

Very true, Anita. Turns out that HEB and Whole Foods, where I do most of my grocery shopping, won't allow open carry anyway.

Not morning anymore!

Getting ready for New Year's Day party. You all know my DH loves his gtgs! Not cooking anything but buying chicken and heating up Italian beef for sandwiches. I'm making potato salad and baked beans. We have tons of extras (veggies and dips, chips etc.) so I sure hope everyone's hungry and not hung over!

Not going to stay up for New Year's. Haven't in a long while. Like Sue said, it'll be same tomorrow.

Got to get a wiggle on and get things finished here. Wishing everyone a wonderful safe healthy and happy New Year!

Everyone take care,
Kathy

I went to Walmart this afternoon and I could have punched some people. It was "old home week" with people blocking the aisles visiting. If you ever see me in a check out lane don't get behind me because I pick the slowest ones. There was a woman ahead of me with some coupons that wouldn't scan and she was arguing with the clerk. They had to get three people to come see before they got through. I wasn't close enough to hear so I don't know if the woman got her way or not. Every line was 5 people deep so nothing was moving very fast.

I was looking for light bulbs and found a battery operated, motion detection light. I didn't know they had such a thing. I am alway looking for something for the old house. I feed the cats in there and there is no electricity. I was thinking of trying to rig some kind of light with a solar panel. I'll see how long the batteries last.

I hear the fireworks starting. The first boom spooked the house cats but they have gone back to sleep. If it wasn't cold I would go outside to see them but it's cold.

My friend Carolyn could be affected by the flooding. She lives close to a river that could flood if they open the spillway North of Baton Rouge. I sure hope she doesn't have to go through that again. She had to move everything in 2011 but the water didn't get as high as they predicted.

Happy New Year to everyone.

Martha

wanted to take the opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year...
one thought on the open carry law that my daughter mentioned is that if someone came into the
school openly carrying you wouldn't know if he was the bad guy or the good guy...just a thought!
have a great one

That is my thought exactly! If I was in a store, restaurant or movie theater and saw someone with a gun, I would immediately leave for that exact reason. Don't know if they just want to protect themselves or are having a bad day and want to "take someone out".

As for New Years Eve, just hanging out with the cats tonight. Also reflecting on the past year and figuring out plans and goals for the new year. Hoping 2016 is a little better!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Happy New Year!
Fireworks have been booming since 7:30! Some sound like sticks of dynamite.
Hope all the flooded areas start to see some relief. All the homeless tornado victims are also
needing our prayers.
