Wednesday - last one of 2015

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday - last one of 2015

Postby Colliemom » Wed Dec 30, 2015 7:38 am

Good Morning,

Week going by fast, tomorrow is New Years Eve already. Hardee Lakes GTG in FL will be here before you know it.

Watching TWC and all the flooding going on in St. Louis and elsewhere. Wow. Am all cleared out from Monday's snow except for next door neighbor. Need to wait for road plow to clear road. Eileen, sorry you had such a time getting back to your hotel. That snow is extremely slippry, that's for sure, being so heavy. Hard on the snow blowers and plows. But boy, the snowmobilers were flocking north yesterday.

Started a jigsaw puzzle yesterday, so will work on that later today probably. Will need to clear out end of drive once road is plowed. Mail carrier couldn't deliver yesterday, but I was out at small local post office on my way to fill up gas can and he happened to be there, so gave me my mail, nothing important though. He has a van and snow too deep to drive through, much less get near the boxes. Neighbor's here have trucks and all wheel drives, so we were able to drive out. 9 inches where not drifted.

Sounds like everyone's busy with routine stuff now that Christmas is over. Time to start thinking of spring/summer travel plans, GTG's etc. As for me, going to get busy and do a little housework here. Have a nice day all.

Mornin' Sue and all that follow ~~~
Short day at work today and then no work until Monday!! Then comes the long stretch until Labor Day for the next day off. ah, this too shall pass. Streets are pretty good here after the sleet the other day, now expecting really cold temps for New Years. No matter to me. I'm hunkering down with the furkids.

Want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Hoping prosperity too for everyone so more camping can be done.

Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads no matter where you are.

G'morning Sue and Cheryl and all who follow. It rained last night so work on the RV will have to wait until everything dries out. If the sun comes out, I might be able to work this afternoon. I hope so.

Lynn, Olive and Matty are best buddies. I still miss Scarlett sometimes, thanks for asking. I'm amazed that you remembered her, poor little girl. Scarlett, not you.

Anita, you're right, the rig does want to go on an adventure. Then she remembered that the driver is registered for a non-refundable class in Jan and Feb. Bummer.

Everybody have a safe, dry, warm day.

Good morning from Kartchner Caverns State Park in Arizona. The sun is just about to peek over the mountains. Thistle woke me up at 5 a.m. and we've been up since 6. Breakfast oatmeal is eaten and as soon as I finish my cup of coffee, Thistle and I will go out for our morning walk. It's supposed to be warming up over the next few days, but then another low coming through Monday. It is what it is. Tomorrow is our cave tour where the ambient temperature stays 70 degrees.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good Morning
On my third cup of coffee and may have a few more before I get motivated to understand decorate the house. I so want to pack up the rv and head somewhere but that is not in the cards right now. My partner had ankle surgery and is non weight bearing for 5 weeks. Oh well at least when she retires in March we can hit the open road.
Have a good day all.

Good morning ladies
:D
Just working on cleaning walls and windows, a section of carpet
before I frame out a bed platform. You guessed it, I'm on another project.
That space on the slide part where the sofa used to be, ha, that area is getting
a makeover. Got it all prepped yesterday, by then it was after 3 and definitely
not wanting to shampoo carpet that late and have it be wet all night, will do that today
as soon as it warms up from the morning chill.
On that note, I'm off to finish posts and email. Y'all have a great day, be safe and
be warm.

Good Morning.
I'm feeling better this morning. Don't know what happened yesterday - either I ate something that disagreed with my system or it just rebelled from all the stress lately.

Got to get a shower, grocery shopping, start a pot of soup, and at least a little self defense house keeping (think one could write name on all dusty surfaces) today.
Had some light rain early but that has started moving off to the east.

TN River still above flood stage but level has dropped a couple of feet. The road between highway and park has reopened but road into park still closed. New concern - the combination of warm weather and all the flooding has driven/washed many snakes out into yards and other places not normally seen. A surprising number of spring blooming trees are blooming. Mother Nature has a nasty trick in store for them as we have 3 nights back to back hard freezes starting tonight.

Just got word that the basement in rental house is flooded - trying to get a plumber over there with pump - they are in very short supply with all of the on-going flooding issues here.

I do hope we have some sunshine to start the new year. Have a good day.

Good morning gals! Cool and cloudy here. Nothing too exciting going on. Very slow at work now so they give me the option of taking the day off but I can't afford to do that so will go in for a few hours anyways. Next paycheck will be pretty small! No shopping for me for awhile!

Sophie is a maniac on paws! Last night she pulled the picture above my bed off the wall and it hit me in the face! Rude awakening that was! She is too cute to get very mad at tho! Sue, I also got a puzzle to put together but am thinking the pieces are going to go flying off the table by a certain kitten! Could be a big challenge to put that together!

Have lots of cleaning to do later on and am starting a resolutions/goals list for the new year.

Have a good day and stay safe, warm, high and dry!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good morning, all! I have been up and trying to get some stuff cleaned and ready for my daughter-in-law's mother camping with me for five days. Son and wife and kids are going to stay in their trailer, which they are also taking to Disneyland in Anaheim. Kids will ride with me, but not sleep because we older folks are going to let the kids enjoy the grandkids, although one might slip in, just not two at once because of space.

Yesterday, we had a fantastic day in San Francisco. It was bright and sunny, which is highly unusual for that city. It was pretty chilly and downright freezing at night, but we had a good time at Chrissy Field down by the south end of the bridge and going east and north quite a ways. Place was really packed with others enjoying the sunny day. Then we went to the Bay Model in Marin. (Will post photos of it later on blog, but really an interesting place.) It is a huge model of the entire bay that the Corps of Engineers used to track water flow and tidal actions, etc. Finally, we went to Marin for dinner and about froze walking around! Brrrrr. Got down to about 45, which is really cold with light jackets instead of winter coats and hats. Glad to get home, although there were still gawkers around the area where they removed the elephant seal yesterday.

So cold here that I have gone through half a tank of propane in 7 days. Will need to refill in a couple of days for our trip.

I can just see me trying to put together a puzzle around here. The cats can't stand to see something on a table or desk and have to knock it off. They cracked the face of my alarm clock and knocked my cell phone off the desk. When we still lived in our old house we had a Siamese cat that liked to climb. One night he was on the curtain rod over the bed, fell off, hit the head board and landed on Harold's head. He was kind of a klutz for a cat. One day he was on the roof of a shed and was leaning over trying to see under the eave. He fell off and landed on his side. He must not have heard that cats land on their feet. Annie likes to come running down the hall, jump on the back of my chair and jump on top of the cabinets over my desk. There is only about 5 inches between the cabinets and the ceiling. I don't know how she gets her fat butt up there. She rolls around a minute and then bails out of there. I have to watch that she doesn't land on me. They all have to be crazy sometime every day except Pinky.

Sarah, sorry you are still having problems from the flooding. Having rental property is a pain. We had tenant houses on the farm. If they were vacant someone was always calling about them. If someone was living there it was alway something. Harold finally sold them to be moved and got rid of the headache.

Now they are talking about the flood water from Missouri coming down the Mississippi. Hopefully it won't be bad enough to open the spillway to keep New Orleans from flooding.

It is back to being gray and overcast. It was raining hard sometime this morning. I need to go get a cabbage for New Years but don't feel like going to town. I should have told Harold because he went to Walmart this morning.

Good evening all!

Getting ready for our New Year's Day gtg. Tomorrow will make my potato salad. MIL called this evening asking if I already went to the store because she wants some groceries and doesn't want to go out to get them. She's feeling a bit under the weather. So will go to store for her tomorrow after I finish some jobs.

Got a lovely bit of snow up here this morning. Weatherman said we'd get about a tenth of an inch-NOT! I'll bet there's 2 inches out there. My new car just sailed through it anyway. :D Thought I'd have a bit of trouble at the end of my driveway because it goes uphill to the street but no.

My son lives on a dead end road right on a small river that routinely floods whenever he gets a lot of rain. Yesterday his girlfriend went to let his dogs out and she called him to say there was about 6 inches already on the road at noon. By 3 p.m. when he left work for home it was halfway up his truck's wheels, about 10 inches. Before he went to bed last night he put on his waders and walked down to see how high it was and it was up to his knees (he's 6 ft. tall). Fortunately by this morning the water had already receded.

Not much else to report from here. Everyone take care,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Good evening
I love jigsaw puzzles but it has been several years since I worked on one. Had a large golden lab at the time and was working the puzzle on coffee table. Was almost finished when she walked up, stuck her tongue out and lapped up several pieces. I was so surprised, she swallowed them before I had chance to take them away from her. Think I gave all my puzzles to Jean (Sparkle) before he last trip to Mexico.

Did finally get a plumber to address flooded basement. Pump had to be replaced and he had to go to TN to get one.

Tonights news said we still have about 60 roadways under water and with hard freezes coming in, it will only make matters worse. Hard to believe some of the crazy things people do. Can you believe TVA is asking media to tell people to stay off the river and not to fish along banks due to swift currents and unstable land? Police are constantly reminding people not to drive into water over road. Way too many rescues required.

My niece recently discovered a free app she is raving about that gives cash back for groceries and all sorts of other things. I don't have a smart phone but will post some info about in under the gadgets thread.
