Morning all! Had a quiet Christmas here but we had fun. We did burgers and tater tots for dinner. Always have done complicated Christmas dinners with lots of side dishes but made the decision this year, that between us being exhausted from the trips to radiation and lack of time and Mel's not being able to taste much, it was time to make a change. It was an amazing good feeling to not have to do anything more than put tater tots in oven as Mel grilled burgers on cast iron grill pan and warm buns in oven. I can't remember feeling so relaxed at Christmas dinner! Both of us got gloves from Costco made by Head ( the ski people) which have sensor surface so they work on touch screen of phones from our son. We liked them so much we faced the crowds yesterday at Costco to dig through boxes for another pair each so we have spares. Amazing how many extra small sizes they had and only one extra large which fits Mel and one size large for me. What were they thinking ordering so many XS and S sizes when most people apparently needed large and XL? Anyhow mission accomplished.
We are gearing up for the final two days of radiation and will be so glad to wake up Wednesday morning knowing its over. Praying this keeps the cancer gone. Planning a quiet New Years Eve with our usual array of appetizers and maybe play scrabble if we can find it. We did that for years with the kids from the time they could read.
Everyone be careful who is in the way of storms. Have a good day and week.

Still almost morning here. I am home and relaxing most of today after a busy holiday with family. I slept in and then started emptying my shelves in my bedroom. It is a closet with three large shelves, and I use it to store all my long pants, long-sleeved shirts, shorts, and short-sleeved shirts folded up. Since I started out over three years ago, I have lost weight, gained weight, lost a little weight, and added a lot of things, but never really dug in an emptied it, which is my task for this very cold day. (I refilled my propane four days ago and have already burned through a quarter of my tank! It went down to 30 last night. Have electric heater going, but also needed furnace to supplement it last night and even today because there is no sun to warm this place up.)

So, my goal is to put only the things that fit me back onto my shelves. Stuff that I still like but does not fit me will go in storage bags in the "basement" storage area. The stuff that I don't want anymore will go to Goodwill. So far, I have sorted out the long pants and long-sleeve stuff and put it back. Found some stuff I didn't even know I had, so that goes to Goodwill since I have not needed it in last 3 years. Next, I am tackling my shorts shelf. Also, got pills to count out for next two weeks and to take down and pack away the rest of my Christmas decorations. In the meantime, I am sitting and watching TV!

Tomorrow morning I get my stitches out--yippee! I can use my fingers and the base of the palm of my hand, but the incision area REALLY, REALLY hurts when I touch it to anything. And it has been aching when I overuse my hand enough for a half of a Vicodin tablet once in a while. I know it will take a long time to heal, and the doctors told me there are a lot of nerves in your hands. I want to get my right thumb done in June, but I don't know how I will be able to manage then because I am right-handed.
