Trip to Remember Krissi

Postby monik7 » Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:58 pm

I left Monday for Arizona on a trip that my sweet Krissi should have made too. Having lost her last Saturday, I almost cancelled, but decided to continue with the plan as she would have loved it. Krissi is "riding shotgun" in her little cedar box with the gold lock. I miss her terribly and often wonder if I'll run dry of tears.

Yesterday after leaving Bakersfield and climbing over the Tehachapis in heavy rain we made it to Mojave. However, there the wind was so strong I saw a Class A on its side on an overpass and further on a big rig on its side. Many other big rigs pulled off. I didn't know where to get to a sheltered place and just on the side of the freeway the wind would have blasted the RV on the side and done major damage. I continued along at 25 mph or slower behind a couple trucks that kept going, eventually clearing the wind. We then proceeded to Barstow and ran into a dust storm. We made it Needles though.

Today we headed to Usery Mtn. Regional Park outside of Mesa because of the great reviews JudyJB made about it. We'll be here 4 nights.

I'm glad you decided to make the trip. And Krissi will always be with you.

Yikes to the wind. So glad you made it safely. Enjoy.

Wind is horrible, isn't it? In future, know that there is a pleasant campground next to the glider airport in Tehachapi if you need to stop somewhere.

Hope you enjoy Usery Mountain. I will be there again in about a month.

I understand completely. My dog Roe's ashes traveled with me after I lost him to cancer. My intention was to carry him on my hikes (which he loved to do) and sprinkle some of his ashes along the way. That didn't happen, but I did sprinkle his ashes on a beautiful beach in Texas that he would have liked. I still think of him often on my hikes. Thistle likes to hike too, but not the long strenuous ones that Roe would do.

Hope to see you soon.

Sandi - We all carry quite a few loved ones both human and pet along with us in our hearts as we travel. We are never alone when we have such lovely memories. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Sassy and Buddy are on a shelf in their urns just waiting for me. I've asked my daughter to mix our ashes when I'm gone and scatter us all together. All of my current crew, except for Sophie, will most likely outlast me and I've (hopefully) made arrangements to find them homes if something happens to me. My daughter can't keep them as she has three big dogs herself, except for Sophie.

Sandi, You know we are behind you on your first trip without Krissi. Almost 2 years later, I still talk to Molly (she's on my dresser) and hold the paw print sometimes that the vet made for me when she went to the bridge.

Krissi was your heart dog, and you will always miss her. Your life without Krissi will be different, but it may take some time. Anyone with any loved pets knows what your going through.

(((hugs)))
