I have that vision too. I would like more room but mine is so easy to drive and park.

Sheila, about the only thing I know about used trucks is the 2006 Ford F-350 Diesel we had. It started give us trouble at about 120,000 miles and we couldn't afford to keep it running. I have seen posts on RV Tips where other people have had problems with that truck too. When you find one you are thinking about buying ask for reviews on Facebook.

Martha

will have to do that...my "nephew" (best friends son has always called us aunt and uncle) have given me some ideas and if I buy it here in Ogden he can check it
out he is a mechanic but he isn't a ford guy so know that it won't be a ford (neither was Larry that would make him turn over  or come back to ask me what are you thinking???)

In another shift of plans, son's arrival delayed for a few days -- but then he'll stay through the weekend! You never quite know how things will arrange themselves with him. I have to say, he comes by it naturally!

Really need a campfire tonight! Went out this afternoon and turned off the hose and then turned on the water pump. When I got back from shopping, I did the reverse, except about an hour later I discovered that the water from the hose had filled the fresh water tank through the pump, even though it was turned off. It did this once before, and I suspect that there is a bad switch or a hole in the diaphragm, since water is NOT supposed to fill tanks from the hose!!

And the way I discovered this was that I was sitting in my chair tonight, put my bare feet down and discovered the edge of my rug was soaking wet. My textbooks got wet and the water had run all the way from where the water fill for the tanks was to the edge of the cab!! Water was gushing out the fill opening on the side of my motorhome, as well. so I turned off the park water and then opened the fill to release the pressure. Then I pulled out a bunch of towels and started mopping up the inside mess. I have a pile of soggy towels to wash now. Ugh.

I am making pea soup with the Honey-Baked Ham bone and leftovers, so that smells really good. I am also attempting to brine and make some peameal bacon, aka Canadian bacon. It is not a smoked product, but is brined and then you have to cook it. Will take several days in the refrigerator, but I love it so worth the effort. Never made it before. Recipe includes maple syrup and pickling spices, as well as salt brine.

My feet are still cold from the wet rug and the rest of me is cold from running outside without a coat on. Brrr.

Oh Judy, what a disaster, I never turn my pump on unless I need it, use the water and then turn it back off. We do get numerous water shut offs out here, so I'm grateful for my pump.

a three years ago when I was up in Idaho for Thanksgiving due to truck problems I think that is when it all started made the wrong
decision then ...but it was really cold and stuff froze then the 5th wheel was 'stored' about 10 maybe when I was all thawed out I realized that there
was water where it shouldn't be however I found out it was only when I was using water from the hose connection if I used it from the tank no water
so that is what I do sure glad that the pump works good!!! it was one of those things I was going to have done when in Q this year...more options of
repair people...so next year when in Q will have it looked at
so sorry for your problems!!! take care

Hoping everyone is having a great first day of the year...stayed up way to late even by my standards...then went to bed and read a couple of chapters
good book too bad it's a series and this is the first one...hate it when I get hooked on a series.
got up and watched the Rose Parade love a good parade but think I got up late thought it started at 10 here oops think it started at 9 as it was over in little
over an hour  ...but what I saw was good!!
My dd had to go up to Jackson Wy for a short bit like she went up on Sunday back on Monday night as the girls would be home on Tues.. shared custody
so she brought back one of my granddaughters so she could visit with her youngest...for the most part a good visit... but we had to take her back today so
met my two daughters half way and gave back the granddaughter...then home made some guacamole and salsa will enjoy it later...someone said that they
made pork roast and sauerkraut was it home made sauerkraut?
we had stopped by flying j for gas and I was so cold (am wondering if I will ever warm up) wanted hot chocolate and they had some peppermint hot chocolate thought mmmm that sounds good but no it was broke so was the other hot chocolate...dang wanted some hot chocolate!!! guess I'll make some later was even tempted to use the microwave and heat up some choc milk but didn't see it till we were walking out the door...
I hope that this year is the best ever for one and all...that all your dreams, goals, resolutions what ever you addressed this day come to fruition.

Sheila, take a look at the Chevy line of trucks too. I see a lot of big 5ers being towed with 2500 series heavy duty ones. That's the 3/4 ton truck and it has a big tow rating.

I agree with Sue, Sheila. Check the Chevy trucks out. My Jayco motorhome was on a Chevy chassis and I put over 140,000 miles on it, 19 plus years old when I sold it. Never had any problems with it, turn the key the slightest and engine started. The day I sold it, still starting right up. Drove mountains all over the country, no problem ever, loved it. I would really look into them, you have plenty of time through the winter to google and find out all kinds of info before getting out there looking.

Good luck and keep us posted, we're all hoping you find that just right vehicle,

Certainly nothing wrong with a Chevy. Sheila, what brand 5er do you have? I'm a bit concerned about the weight of the 5er loaded. I know I pushed the limit with my smaller, aluminum built 5er and the 2500. If the weight was what caused the transmission problems, you don't want to revisit that with another vehicle.

First, I'm sitting in at t shirt with my door and Windows open! I know this will be fleeting, but it's been a long time and I'm loving it.

Second, instead of boondocking as planned, I splurged and pulled into an RV park and paid too much (lol) for two nights. Sometimes convenience is worth it. Later today my friends from Wisconsin will arrive in this town at a relative's. That's the base they'll use for their trips to the alternative doctor in Mexico they have been using for a year. Tomorrow I'll get to see them, thus the reason to be close and available whatever time they can make it tomorrow. It's amazing that we found this little sliver of time where we could make this work. I'd have paid double what I did to see them right now.

Then I'll head to Tucson Wed and on to my new job after.

when we first got the truck I questioned my husband on whether it would pull the 5th wheel and he reassured me that it could..and it did although we
did get a different tranny the first summer we were actually traveling when it was replaced we got a super duty one lots of over the top stuff...that was 2008 and it did fine even with what we hauled and knowing that we were over loaded till 2013 which I was ok with knowing it had been overloaded however after Larry died I did get rid of lots some added to it but not as much as went out it's hasn't been weighed for years...so have no idea what it is now...I think that what has happened over the last two trannys is that they didn't put in the same type or what ever as the one that went out in 2013 ...
I am giving thought to what are my options at this time besides freeze...
the obvious is another truck and yes I can and will look into a Chevy I drove a Ram 2500 1999 I believe so want something newer been told that in the year
2007 across the board for all diesels some stuff was changed and after that the mpg was affected... so have been advised to get one before 2007
other options are:
buying a park model/trailer down in Q at one of the rv parks
towing the 5th wheel down by some means that would cost a lot of money then store the 5th wheel for the summer and get a smaller motor home
to live in in the summer and perhaps have the means read that money to travel more...
at this point not sure what I will do gives me something to ponder over the winter and summer if I got a park model/trailer in Q I would have
the trailer to live in in the summer but would still like something to travel in when the desire to do so came upon me... once I park the 5th wheel have
no desire to hook up and take it some where...guess it still intimates me...that and at this time still have to much debt to do anything ....when we got the
5th wheel we thought we had signed up for a in case of death insurance the trailer would be paid for if we did we have no idea where those papers are probably with the title  the lending institution says not with them...so making payments on the 5th wheel and some other debt between them I pay out more than I wish but one goes away this summer...the trailer payments not so soon and since I'm upside down on it can't see selling and loosing money on it...
just wish that we had made better choices long ago I would have more liquid money haha but Larry thought I would be ok because of the insurance that didn't exist
thank you for your input
