Just Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Just Thursday

Postby gingerK » Thu Dec 10, 2015 9:01 am

Good morning all,

I'll put the coffee on this morning. Not much doing here. After I check for mice (!) I'll maybe get my small Christmas tree out and put it up this afternoon. Have to find a place where the dogs won't knock it over.

I spent much of yesterday fighting that headache and I can still feel it lurking in the background in my head. Hopefully, it won't come back today too.

Everyone take care,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Kathy, thanks for the cup of coffee! :D Sure hope a cup or two helps starve off the headache! Just had the roofers from the apartment building tell me they are going to work on my driveway side of the roof so need to keep my car in backyard for part of the day. I didn't realize they would be throwing stuff in my driveway! But at least they put down a tarp and promised to run a magnet across the drive so I don't (I sure hope) have a bunch of roofing nails laying around. I need to run to the store but guess later will be fine. Jim installed the EMS in Lola yesterday so guess I've done all I can do to protect Lola. I was sitting in her with the dogs while he was working and really wanted to uncover her and take off! Luckily by the time he was done it was getting later in the day and I could see the fog starting! Nope, leave her covered! So instead I got going on cleaning out more stuff in the closet! Gotta downsize! I kept telling myself I need to do this so eventually I can go when I want! Crazy rationale but it works! Most of the time! So not much else going on here but I wanted to check in! Hope you all have a good day and stay safe.

See those little boats... really puts it into perspective.

The above are pictures of the very, very low Toulumne River.

Pouring down rain here. Peaches doesn't want to go out. So we're snuggling in bed (I'm off today, so can wait). Supposed to rain all day, so eventually she'll decide we need to get wet. When I went into town yesterday I took new pictures with my phone showing how very low the river is still. The drought here is far from over, so although I'd be happy without all the rain, they need every bit they can get.

That's Lake Don Pedro right? Sure a sad sight. Unbelievable how low the water line is. Hope El Niño lives up to expectations to make those pics look better!

I believe the 2nd two pictures are looking towards the lake and that's probably it. The first is looking the other way, up river. To imagine this wasn't it's low! We've had so much moisture since I've been here; obviously it's but a drop in the bucket.

I'm at Lake Hensley, north of Fresno, CA, and it has only maybe 20% of the water it is supposed to have. And I am the only camper, other than a camp host couple. Sad to see lakes so low. The rangers tell me that even summer camping numbers were down because there is so little water. However, it has been raining off and on, so hopefully this state will get some water this winter to refill their lakes a little.

I was hoping to go a couple of days early to Napa, but the campground is full. I asked the lady to call me if there is a cancellation. Considering that the weather is cold and drizzly, maybe that will happen. Otherwise I will just get work done and relax and read.

Good evening
Impressive photos, Beth.
No drouth here either and more heavy rain forecast for Sunday along with potentially severe weather. Still a bit warmer than usual but that won't last much longer. TN River back in its banks but I have not made it to campground to check on Magic yet.
I rarely drink but I may have to see if there is a glass of wine in here somewhere. My dear sweet Nicky who is not supposed to run with his bad knees managed to catch a rabbit Tuesday night. I traipsed around in the leaves trying to find it in the dark but started sneezing so bad had to quit. Was hoping the hawk might come back and get it so the poor bunny life could be beneficial for him. Forgot next morning and let Nicky out off leash. He found the rabbit and brought the head to porch, totally spoiling my breakfast. After more searching and sneezing, found and disposed of remainder of bunny. Later discovered mouse in garage. Terminix here this morning. Did annual attic inspection and found that something had chewed large hole in screen over attic vent and is or has been living up there. To say the least, it has not been a good week for wildlife or allergies around here.
Popcorn and wine beginning to sound pretty good for dinner.
The only major handicap in life is a bad attitude!
