Adding a 12 volt outlet

Wish I had even thought of that, Beth. Next time I buy a motorhome, I will know more what to look for!!

I have lots of 110 outlets in the right places, but did not even think of needing 12 volt outlets in the right places.

I discovered they are putting less in, expecting everyone to use inverters. So make sure adding one or more is part of the deal. It's really inexpensive for them to do, and they couldn't understand why I wanted it. But I got it.

That said, I don't know if I'll ever be looking to purchase again, but I have more things on my list if I do.

Judy they now make 120v outlets with built in chargers. Would that work?

Thanks, but you need to be connected to 110 for those to work. I have plenty of laptop chargers--one for 110 volt and one for 12 volt. What I need is another 12 volt outlet connected to my coach batteries for when I am not plugged in to power. I want to be able to easily charge my laptop from my coach batteries, but my only two outlets are too far from where I work. I think I am going to try to find the 12 volt extension cord to use the outlet in my bedroom closet. (Why would they put an outlet there???)

I don't dry camp very often, but the extension cord will enable me to do it more often without constantly running my generator.

OK, yep you are correct, that it's more efficient to run straight off the battery. I don't even have a 12vdc outlet in my 5er. All my outlets are 120vac.

That's exactly what I need. I've been told auto parts stores carry them also, so I am going to stop at one of those. I don't need it right away, luckily.

If I can run something eventually directly from my batteries, they are right behind my chair, so maybe a wire could be run along the wall to the cabinet/bookcase I have. It would really be easy to attach it to that.

In the meantime, the extension cord will work.

Can you clip directly to your battery terminals? If yes, these might work, maybe with a 12v extension cord.
