Chilly Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Nov 20, 2015 8:43 am

Good Morning all,

Chilly here at the 45th. Wind has been blowing for I think almost 4 days now. Sustained yesterday at 35 mph and gusting to as much as 44 mph. Close to same for previous two days. Supposedly supposed to start dying down a bit later today and we might even see some sun. Been cloudy and showery and then yesterday changed to snow showers and just light dusting on the ground now. More snow coming tomorrow as lower part of state is under Winter Storm Watch. Barbie, you mentioned that you looked out and it was snowing where you are. Wasn't long after I read your post that I looked out and it was snowing here too. You wanted to share it didn't you

Nothing special going on here. Been busy with in house stuff. Put up last plastic shrink storm window. Installed a door sweep on my new kitchen door and a metal strip along the edge of the new piece of vinyl that was laid down in place of the old door sill. Did a couple refinements to bird feeder including another suet feeder etc. So just puttery stuff. Today I'm going to town then paint the first coat on my log snowmen. Also packing to head north on Monday for Thanksgiving. Made a pumpkin pie yesterday and it's in freezer. Turkey going in tomorrow and will divide it and freeze it. Don't want to haul all the necessary fixings, roasting pan, pie plate and what not along, so doing it all ahead. Weight loss is showing 16 pounds now :D Course that's going to fluctuate.

Enough jabbering. Hope you all have a good day out there. Those of the road, hope you find some dry travels. JudyJB, sounds like you are making good progress toward CA. Those with health issues, hope you get them taken care or feel better.

Well, Sue, we've had the windy gusts but no snow yet. We're in a Winter Storm Advisory from tonight through the weekend, so we'll see what we get. Predicted 4-6 inches here, but I'm skeptical. Those meteorologists always seem to predict the worst possible scenario and treat it like a crisis.
I'm chasing around today: take the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to the drop-off site for our women's group from church, lunch with friends, visit an old lady for company, then hang with friends for cocktail hour. DH has a special rehearsal for the mandolin orchestra since they're having guest artist concerts at two locations this weekend. So, I get to goof off, sew, or whatever I please all weekend. Hoping to go to a new (re-opened) fabric store in town for quilt backs, etc. I need for Christmas gifts.
That's all I know: stay safe and warm out there,
Eileen

Good morning gals

Sue, I think you're going to see a lessening of windiness today; we aren't as windy as yesterday. Of course that's when I decided to take Angel down to the barn :x Nothing like driving a high profile vehicle in 30 mph crosswinds over a high level bridge for white knuckled excitement! But I got her there and backed her in first try (of course DH helped direct me but I did the backing in with my mirrors), and we covered her up with her cover and a huge tarp. Also put on her wheel covers. All to ward off any dust they might make working on cars in that building over the winter. Tomorrow I might go buy some mouse traps to put down all around her. The guys can check them occasionally and it might just stop the mice before they get in Angel.

Shooter got his bandage taken off yesterday but when I checked his foot this morning, it sure looks to me as if he's pulled his stitches out. I'm not taking him back for that; it will heal eventually and I may just re-wrap it myself. He never bothered it when it was wrapped but once they took it off, he was always after it. It's not bleeding and the edges look clean, no infection.

Just one dog walk today and I'm glad. Not feeling well this week and I'm about worn out. This weekend I plan to just hibernate.

Thats about all from here, everyone take care,
Kathy

Good morning,
Nothing much going on here. Just need to go pick up a few more items for Thanksgiving. Looking forward to seeing family and friends.
The weather is cooler today. Supposed to get to low 80's. What a relief! If it gets too cold at home you're welcome to join us here in Florida 8-)
Wishing everyone a great weekend.

Good Morning, or I think its still morning. :D Not getting around the best this morning, last night my stomach decided to do its thing and get rid of everything, it doesn't really need any particular thing but too much milk in one day will do it. And I haven't had any for a while and wanted some so bad, so had cereal yesterday morning and last night so tired, just had my crackers and milk I enjoy in evenings its my evening meal. Well !!!! Shouldn't have !!! I'm fine this morning, just need to get liquids back and some protein working to get my energy back.

I have things collected on my love seat to go out to RV, its cold here today , so haven't made any trips out yet. Few more things need to add to that pile anyway. Then I will move RV back down and hook it up and get frig going. Hoping to pull out of here Sunday morning fairly early, after the fog :D

So nice to see you posting again, Oma. Will be seeing you sometime, someway this winter. Sue, I saw your post on FB of last year at your house, according to that are you a wee behind this year on your snow?? I didn't think you had that much yet. That picture is gorgeous, snow so white !!

Hope your furbaby heals fast, Kathy. They do love to chew on those places.

My mind is almost a total blank, and know there was another comment I had, oh well, that's life, right ??   as soon as I sign off, it will come to me.

Have a good day, stay warm all of you in the snowy places or high windy places, and those on the roads, Please Stay Safe,

CArol :)

Harold woke me up about 3:00 riding his bicycle. Then I couldn't go back to sleep and I had my alarm set for 7:00 to bring the cat to the vet. It seemed like I had just gone back to sleep when I had to get up. Now I have a headache. I had to leave Zero and will pick him back up this afternoon. He is a big, lovable goof ball but he was not happy with all the poking and squeezing the vet was doing.

Sue, if you can lose weight between now and New Years you are really doing good. I'm happy if I don't gain weight for the holidays. I don't know what I'm going to cook for Thanksgiving. Probably a stuffed chicken and a turkey breast. I think I like the sandwiches with the leftover turkey more than the dinner.

It was pretty cool this morning but it's already up to 72. They are now saying it could freeze Sunday night. Darn! I need to find the cover for my orange tree and move the ficus tree back in the old house. I should have put the orange tree in a planter so I could move it in and out. It's going to take it 10 years to get any size to it.

Sue, I think you are getting the high winds we had down here in New Mexico earlier this week. Now it is sunny and calm, and supposed to get up to 68 today, although tomorrow it will go back to 60. Nights are very cold, but bundling up and keeping heaters working. I still seem to have some hitchhiking lady bugs and stinkbugs, however. The stinkbugs I picked up a while back and they are hiding in my closets among my clothing, I think, and just coming out one at a time.

Still struggling with grading papers online using a new program, but am determined to get faster at it. Need to see if I can do some modifications to the program, as well. Things are getting busy because it is getting toward the end of the semester. I do love some of the updates they made to the course system--I can tell if a student has read the instructions and lectures (some narrated) online and how much time they spent. Had a student tell me he was having trouble understanding assignments and how the class was too difficult, and how he wanted to know what he could do to pass, and I told him via email that it would help if he read the assignments and instructions I posted!! And spend more than the 2 seconds he had spent on some of them!! Made me feel so good to point out that he actually had to do some work in order to pass. These students are in their 30s mostly, so while I am polite and professional, I don't have to worry about hurt feelings and babying them along.

Off to the air and space museum in Alamogordo today. Also will stop for groceries and to run a couple of loads of laundry through. My refrigerator, small though it is, is getting empty.

Had a beautiful drive into Georgia this morning. Blue skies, cool temps, and scenic roads. I did a blog post about my stay at Ocean Pond in no. Florida the last two nights. Met up with former? forum member and FB friend, VTChris. Lovely free NF cg on a small lake.

Totally understand wanting to keep the dust etc off of Angel, and also know you are storing in a building, but wanted to pass this along. It's about not covering an RV with a blue tarp. no clue what color yours is, but guessing any plastic cover would be the same.

Just some info and something to think about if anyone is storing outside under a tarp also.

Cheryl, watched the video. I understand their stated reasons for not using a poly tarp. But since Angel's inside a heated building with it loosely covering her over an rv cover, I think she's good. BTW, I've used poly tarps on my TCs (Pony's double covered right now for her fourth winter) and have never had a problem with either condensation or water damage. The alternative to not using a poly tarp on Angel is dust from grinding on cars when they work in that building. Not something you really want all over and possibly, inside your RV, trust me.
