Sunday & not so "cold"

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday & not so "cold"

Postby carolb » Sun Nov 08, 2015 4:23 am

Gmorning all from somewhere in VA???

Oh Ava, the kid from hell grrrrrr & what crazy "rules" you have to follow? For the rest of you, sounds like life is treating you pretty well, even if the weather isn't ;) Judy, glad you were able to find a "replacement" cg--really thought the entire state of TX would have been washed away :(

BJ, good to see you back--you always add a chuckle to our morning conversations!

Ok, my turn to vent: Are any of you running across the "chip" reader problem at gas stations? I've had to "see cashier" at 2 stations in the past couple days. I called my credit card provider, they said it's "gonna happen" for about another year until stations get caught up. Anyway, I don't like having to "see cashier," standing in line with all the truckers, being "exposed" as a single woman traveler??? Aaaaaargh!

And the not so "cold" subject line means I feel better today! Woke up yesterday a.m. with all signs of a dang good old fashioned cold!!! Didn't get very far, spent most of the day at a Rest Area cozied up in my HB. Wanted to "nip it in the bud," & I think I did. I feel soooo much better today. So Liz, did I catch it from you ;)

But at least I'm on the road!!! Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Good morning Carolb and everyone!

Thanks for all the welcome backs!

Carol, I'm so glad you're on the road and also glad you're feeling better this morning. I certainly understand your frustration about having to see the cashier for getting gas. Kathy, good luck with your insurance. Peggy, I hope you were able to get in contact with PattyK. Ava and Melissa, oh my! I can understand why JudyJB is happier teaching the adults. Cheryl, so exciting that you have your first camping trip planned for next year! Sarah, so glad you were able to meet up with Wendy & Anita. Martha, I hope the rain stops for you and many others.

Nan arrived here yesterday and is parked next to us. Steve cooked shrimp he marinated on the grill for our dinner and we also had a couple other sides. Shortly before Nan arrived, I received a phone call from a lady that goes to my church, saying she was in the park and wanted to know where we were. She and her hubby were on their way to Fort Myers and wanted to drop off a Prayer Shawl she made, which had been blessed in church last Sunday. What a wonderful surprise and the day was topped off by Nan's arrival.

I wish all of you a perfect day!

Good morning all. I was glad to see Carolb's post and that you are feeling better this morning. And Irmi, glad to see you posting again. Sounds like you had a great Saturday! I enjoyed Nan's company this summer! Laura, I was following your trials this week and glad you came through it! Amazing what parents expect from teachers. Less then a year!! And Ava, sounds like you have your hands full too.

I was disappointed not to get to visit with Carolb but completely understand the distance thing! So instead I got to help with my step granddaughter's sweet 16 party last night. There were about 60 kids there but it was a good group and I think they had a good time. But we sure had lots of food left over! Had the party at a local fire hall so had to transport everything back to the house. We had 3 cars between us and we were all loaded plus getting the family home. I finally made it to my nice quiet home about midnight! But it was fun watching the kids dancing and having fun!

Lola is scheduled to be fixed on Wed. I'll feel so much better when she's all better! Even if I do have to cover her for the winter. She needs a bath now too. These darn leaves dropping on her and then rain and when I brush them off they leave leaf prints on her. What a mess! if we get a warmish day I may be able to give her a bath. But not sure if that'll happen with the temps this week! Well, since the dogs got me up early this morning, guess I have no excuse and need to get my day started. Coffee is done but I can always make more if anyone wants a cup! Have a good day and if you are on the road, travel safe.

Good Morning!

Busy people on here!

Wendy has really shown me a great time here, but it is time to move on. I have decided to avoid the Southern route.

Ava, that boy has obviously heard someone make the 'autism' excuse for him many times! On the other side of the coin, my cousin's grandson, who is autistic but is very smart, does act out when frustrated. School principal called the police and they hauled the 12 year old off in handcuffs! Principal said parents didn't discipline and boy was spoiled. There is much more to that story which isn't over until they have their day in court!

Carolb, hope you really did ditch that cold! My chip card still has the strip to swipe it so I haven't run into any problems with it. So few places I have been have an active chip reader. Irmi, what a nice surprise to receive the prayer shawl - and you are getting great visitors! OSharon, it seems there is always so much left over food after events. Love hearing that it was a good group of kids - we hear so many bad things.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and safe travels!

good morning ladies
glad your feeling better Carolb, my new card has the slide strip too and thats what I've been using.
The autistic thing,,,,many different type of autism and each has their own idiosyncrasies, I've always
been able to manage it and keep them settled but this one has thrown me for a loop. It will work itself
out I hope.
Another great day weather wise for us, ya'll need to get out here and enjoy it :D
Don't know what I have planned for today, I could be a vegetable in front of the tv, but I've done alot
of that lately so think I'll be a little productive outside.
Spent the afternoon at verizon yesterday, my new phone has a flaw and suddenly it was burning up,
wouldn't charge, wouldn't stay on and then later on I couldn't shut it off. It was so hot I could hardly
hang on to it. Finally got it to shut off last night for about a half hour, and it took a good charge over
night. So far today its fine, but a new one is on the way, same kind as the warranty only covers for
the same phone an HTC. Also came home with a tablet, which I didn't need but it was free, only cost
me an extra $3 a month on my plan and it added two more gb, which I also didn't need so now I have
12, and I barely use 5. So now I can catch up on some favorite shows I miss when I fall asleep. The guy
also set up the pad so I can do my texting on it if I need to. Its actually just a bigger version of my
smart phone except won't make phone calls. I still prefer my laptop to any of it.
Not much else on my mind today, ya'll have a great day, be safe, and glad Patty got settled in Pahrump.
Now, need to hear Sheila getting settled home too. :D

Good to see you posting again Irmi, welcome back.

Carolb, sorry you started out with a cold. I was feeling so bad the day after I got my flu shot. I don't know if that's what caused it but it passed. My stomach was upset too so might have been something I ate. I haven't had trouble with my card yet but it's a Walmart credit card and I usually get gas at Walmart or Sams. For some reason my Valero card doesn't work. I know it's not the account because the other one works. I just haven't felt like getting into it with the cashiers. I doubt they would know why it doesn't work and I'm too lazy to request another one.

Our rain finally moved out about 11:00 last night. I haven't checked the rain gauge but we probably got about 3 inches. After lunch I will probably go see if anyone is braving the omelet festival. I'm nosy that way. They usually have the same vendors that set up for every occasion and i'm not into that stuff unless it's food. If the people that sell the crawfish pies are there I might bring some home for supper.

Ava, I don't envy you with your job. There were enough problems with the regular buses. I am so glad I don't have to deal with buses and classes anymore. My grandson lives so far away I don't hear about what's going on there. Since his mother is from Turkey I'm sure that they have problems dealing with her. She has the idea that the world is against her and questions everything that happens. She just causes her own problems.

I have a Verizon tablet that I can use as a hotspot when I travel. It only has 2 gb for $30 but since I only use it about once a month it works for me. My son can almost use it as a GPS when we travel but I can't drive and mess with it. He wanted me to get rid of Verizon and put it on my AT&T account. I like having both because if one doesn't work the other one might. I just don't like having to type on it but it's better than typing on a phone to me.

It was a wet couple of days driving to get here, but I am finally near Austin, TX, and yes, the fields are soggy with lots of water in them. Granger Lake where I am is also slightly overflowing, but not dangerously. Guess if I lived in Texas, I would want to live on a hill!!

So today is just a rest day with some catching up on work. I slept in this morning and am having a late breakfast--really, really late breakfast. Feels really good just to chill out all day.

Tomorrow I do some shopping in Austin and Camping World on my way to San Antonio. I need some stuff I can only get at Camping World and starting my Christmas shopping as well. Got to do it on the way and via Amazon because no time once I get to Napa.

Good morning from sunny CA.

Carolb, hope you do nip that cold early on.
Ava, so sorry hearig about the new kid & all the rules you have to follow - just hold on, retirement will be coming soon.. Not sure what's to become of our school system - between this & Laura's situation, discipline of the kids is off limits now & parents aren't picking up the slack.

Sounds like everyone is getting rain, but us. Priest actually prayed for rain this morning at mass.

I stay very, very busy between the baby & my job. Job is getting easier - making more sense, sometimes even fun. At the same time, baby is getting more active & not sleeping during the day as much. She's a delightful 3-month old now. She can be a real hot-head  when she thinks I'm going to starve her to death, but most of the time she plays with her hands, her toys & smiles whenever I talk, read or play with her. Wouldn't trade this for the world even though my days are long.

No travel is in my foreseeable future, but seeing mention of Quartize - even just for a short time to see everyone is tempting.

Temps went down to the 50's at night this week - time for Olivia to break out the boots. She was so proud of herself pulling them off & they are now one of her favorite play things.

Hope you all stay safe, dry & healthy.
Take care,
Catherine

I didn't make it by morning, It's noon here. Yes, I have contacted Peggy and I'm sure we will be able to get together.
I'm so happy to have finally made it home. It has been quite a month and I am glad it is over.
Hopefully I will be able to get to Q to meet up with Sheila and the rest of the gals.
I just now got a phone call from Peggy and we are planning to meet up.

Way too late for MC but I'll post anyway.

Easy day today; no hunters! But was up late last night and didn't get back to sleep til early this morning :x . Decided to do mostly nothing today so friend and I went shopping.

Yesterday was clean out the garage day; DH & I moved stuff around in order to get my truck in the garage. Got her cap back on and got enough stuff removed from her "stall" so that DH could back her in. Still have stuff in there to put elsewhere but at least she's out of the weather. Would have liked to give her a good bath before putting her away tho.

Took some equipment down to the shop that was in the garage. The space for Angel is filling up too fast! I think DH wants to reneg on his promise to let her stay there. Tough! She goes inside and she gets covered up. They will be working on cars and making dust so I want her covered. DH said he will also put a big tarp on top of the cover just in case. Guess he doesn't want an angry wife in the spring when I get a dust covered MH out of storage!

Ava, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this one bad apple. Why do some kids have to push everyone's buttons that way? Between you and Laura's troubles makes me glad I work with animals.

Irmi I'm so glad to see you back posting. And visiting with Nan is just such fun! I got to sit and visit with her at Shipshe and so enjoyed hearing all her stories.

Carolb, hope you aren't feeling too bad, that you dodged that cold. Take care of yourself! Kathleen and I can send you a "care package" if you need one!

Patty, meeting up with Peggy, so fun!

Catherine, such an adorable baby Olivia is!

Judy and Martha, hope you have enough of that rain and get some nice days to dry things out. I hate soggy weather.

OSharon, sounds about like when I have a party-waaaaay too much food left over.

Linda, glad CA is finally getting some much needed rain.

Anita, whatever route you are taking, be careful.

Take care everyone,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.
