Friday hitting the road

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday hitting the road

Postby carolb » Fri Nov 06, 2015 6:07 am

Gmorning all :)

Today I leave! All last min chores should be done by noon, will drop of cousin's dog on my way out of town (been doing doggy daycare), & start heading SOUTH! Jello plans really jiggled the past couple days, I've been in touch with OSharon, & will skip my visit with her:( She totally understands that she'll be quite a distance off my route. Since the weather looks really good, I've decided to stay on I 81 & possibly do the Blue Ridge Parkway??? OSharon is within "short trip" distance, so we'll catch up in summer...

Anita, I figured towing would add another dimension to traveling, as in more work ;) But sure sounds like you & everyone around you is enjoying the SS :) Wendy is such a hoot! Glad you got to meet her, & great that you'll get to gtg with Sarah! Peg, good to see you here, & yes, will be so fun to have so many of us in AZ in Jan!!

A bit scatter-brained this a.m., agog with excitement! Ready to pack laptop, so will wish y'all a great day & safe travels!

carolb - enjoy your adventure!

Not much doing here today, just groceries and a few errands. Finally got smart and started going to groceries on Fridays, used to go on Mondays and then ran out of food by the weekend... which meant eating out a lot. Much cheaper (and better for the waistline) to eat at home.

Good morning from foggy (steamy) McIntosh. If this was spring and this hot, I'd be leaving today too! But still have another couple of dr. appts. and visits to do.

My checkup at the ophthalmologist yesterday resulted in a slight change of plans. He found scar tissue growing behind my cataract implants, affecting my vision and glare tolerance. Not uncommon and can be corrected with a simple laser treatment. The amazing thing is that because of my travel plans he fitted me in to a busy surgery day yesterday afternoon to do the right eye, and will fit me in another busy day next Tuesday to do the left eye. It's a very quick procedure, and you can drive and resume activities immediately.

I had planned on leaving Sunday to visit my brother in Rotunda (near Englewood, FL), but because of the eyes, will have to cancel that visit, and will not see my brother for another year. So now my plan is to leave Wednesday to go visit my daughter and family in the Tampa area through the weekend. Then back to Ocala area for a couple more appts. before leaving for north Georgia for Thanksgiving.

Safe travels, Carolb. I hope to see you sometime out west this winter, probably in Quartzite at least. Hope everyone else has a good day too.

Morning from breezy northern MI,

Windy and wet are the words here today. So no outside jobs. Got enough to do inside to keep me out of mischief and can work in my garage as well. Got an old birdfeeder from a neighbor yesterday and am in the process of overhauling it. It's basically in good shape, nothing that a good sanding and coat of paint can't do wonders too. Needs a couple of new pieces of wood where the birds feet have worn them down and some new glass. All minor stuff. I love redoing stuff like that anyway. It's bigger than the current one I am using, so will not have to fill as often.

House needs cleaning too, but not in mood. Carolb, safe travels on your journey south and then west. Hopefully you can get west without any problems. Mom Nature doesn't seem to want to leave TX alone this year. Even tornado in Ft. Worth. Anita, you figured out how you are going to get to AZ yet. Sounds like you're having fun with Wendy and also meeting with Sarah too. And a neighbor to do you wiring, how nice. My neighbor who installed my new kitchen door also vacuumed up the leaves that came off my last tree yesterday afternoon. So nice of him. Wonderful to live where one has great neighbors. Liz, nice that the doctor worked you in and hpe the laser does the trick. I had laser done on my one implant a year ago due to tissue over it and unfortunately it resulted in my now having like a starburst effect with headlights and even the sun at certain angles. A side effect of the laser work. Doesn't bother me but I don't drive after dark anymore.

Time to get cleaned up and head out to town. Need to return some stuff to Lowes and pick up a few things while there. So wishing you all a nice day, safe travels on the road etc.

Good (?) morning gals
Ugh! Really paying for all my activity yesterday. Storm and pain woke me up at 2 a.m. Couldn't get back to sleep til after 3:30, then DH woke me up asking if I wanted to eat breakfast (he'd cooked sausage and eggs) at 5. Finally gave up and got up at 5:30. Guess I will be living on pain meds for today at least. Good thing it's a very light work day-only one dog.

Well anyway, I did get Angel washed and all the bugs scrubbed off, pink in and pumped through lines, and water heater drained. Also got Silver vacuumed out and found some new things about her, like a storage compartment under the driver's seat. Not sure what it's really for but could be real useful for hiding valuables if need be. Also started clearing out things in the garage stall where Pony's truck goes for the winter. Amazing all the crap we have just thrown in there over the spring/summer!

Not sure what I'm doing today; maybe just working on health insurance or maybe going shopping.

Everyone take care,
Kathy

Good Morning,

Woohoo, Carolb is on her way!! Liz, love those that are willing to work with our schedules! Sue, having great neighbors is such a blessing. Kathy, hope you can rest up today.

Excited to see that Peggy will still be in Arizona when I get there in January!! Hoping Liz will be as well. Quartzsite should be rockin'!

Fun being here with Wendy! We went out last evening to what I would call a holiday kickoff in a 'small town'. Most stores had food and drinks. Was fun but certainly not the old-fashioned type Christmas things I'm used to. Very modern and classy. It was a beautiful evening to be out, too!

Her neighbor fixed the trailer yesterday. I watched over his shoulder as I held a light for him. When it came time to secure the wiring, I added my 2 cents so it is secured to the frame this time with many wire ties!! Last guy had the right idea but wire ties just didn't hold like we thought they would.

Watching the weather everywhere and Texas is back in the plan! Just going to pick dry days to drive!

Enjoy your day and safe travels!

I am off today to Tyler, TX, and then to Austin and San Antonio the next few days. Looking forward to moving west finally where the air is drier and warmer. I miss the desert, but it will be another 10 days before I really get to that kind of country.

And will really be glad to get to California to see my kids!! Got three big and one small box of crystal to give my son and daughter-in-law that is taking up valuable room inside this place. I have a hand surgeon appointment in Napa to hopefully get my trigger finger and thumb operated on and also an optometrist appointment for an eye checkup.

By the way, I have really liked this Poverty Point State Park--nice wide and clean pads with paved roads and everything in good condition and a full hookup site for $23. It not too far off I-20 in Louisiana, so convenient also.

Good Morning all, Yea, carolb is on the road again! Have a great time and a safe journey. Not much going on around here, did a bit of multi tasking Tuesday. I went to the podiatrist and while there got two burial plots.  A man in the waiting room asked me if I knew who he was and I said only that I see you around with friends of mine. He told me that he was the person I sent money to each year for mowing at the cemetery where my Grandmother is buried. It is a lovely shaded place about a mile from where we live, beside a little white country church that I can remember attending on Christmas Eve when I was very young. The conversation eventually led to finding out there were 'vacancies.' You just never know in a small town who you know or are related to. :!: My daddy worked for this man's family when he was very young. I am probably related to quite a few of the people who are buried in the cemetery as my dad's ancestors settled in this area in the 1800's. Another small world instance, relatives owned the property where I currently live and my dad helped farm the site.

Saw a very funny site near the mall yesterday, talk about ingenuity! The guy in the back seat is holding the tail pipe up with a rope! I was laughing so hard I think he knew I was going to take a picture and he turned his head. We were at a stop light...

Mornin' ladies~~~

Nice to see Carolb is on the road today, but sorry she's skipping Illinois this year. Carol & Bill are planning their getaway to Mexico, and all the other GTGs and mini-GTGs. Also, good for Liz that the cataract fixes are something that can be done quickly so she can be on the road again.

Kathy, the storm must have totally missed me. Didn't hear a thing and the ground was dry by my house. Sorry about the pains for all of your doings yesterday.

That's a new one on me BJ, buying cemetery plots at the foot doctors.

Well I heard from the dealer. Not going to be picking up Colt this weekend. They got him winterized, the shower door is back on track, and the leak is fixed on the emergency window, but wallpaper is on order (it was starting to bubble from the leak) and a circuit board is also on order for the furnace. No wonder it only went on once and never came on again! At least this newbie had some real warranty problems and wasn't just whistling Dixie (so to speak). Hopefully, the parts will come in so I can pick it up next weekend and get it covered before my cover helper (Dad) takes off to Florida for the winter.

I think it took Zorro a whole day of sleeping to recuperate from his little hike at Lowden. Poor pup, his arthritis is showing, but by Tuesday night he was back to his old self (i.e. the usual sleep pattern and his nitely 5 minutes of play time).

Not much else going on here, another doctor appointment with Mom this afternoon. Better get back to work so I can skip out of here in an hour.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

Ah poor pup. It was a pretty steep climb back up that hill.
