Judy, I love that spot! Have spent a week there two different times. They have wonderful washers, but they are the new kind that take forever.

Good Morning All, Casey awakened me at 4 AM!! I just stayed in Bed and read until 6: 30. Finished a cute book. Kind of Modern Romancey, however, took place in N ew Hampshore and the main character earned his living by tapping trees for syrup. That part was very good! Seeing as the NH RELATIVES are still here (they are leaving today) it was interesting talking to them about the process.

I use my iPad while traveling exclusively. Had trouble up on OR last July. When I asked for help here on the Forum, someone told me to just turn off the iPad for awhile. I did, and it worked! That is the extent of my knowledge, Sue.

raiN, rain, and more rain!!! Last night was wonderful.

Thanks to you widows for telling me to let my daughter be alone. It makes it a little easier. I know she has good friends here, so she won!t be all alone, just living alone. She will be 62 on her birthday Nov 30th.

I heard it sprinkle earlier, but did not hear pounding rain. Often rain misses this part of Roseville, even when Sacramento is getting poured on. Kind of weird but it's been that way all the time I've been here. Likewise we are often several degrees different in temperature up or down from Sacramento which is only 15 miles west.
As to sleep, there are a few natural things you can try which work for me.
Magnesium is a mineral they are finding more and more that as we get older we are often deficient. There are fizzy powders such as Mag Fizz you can mix with water and drink before bedtime. Magnesium relaxes muscle and can make you relaxed enough to sleep. I drink it fairly often esp after I showed low magnesium in August 2014 when I spent the night in the hospital. A hour before sleep helps so I am not getting up to pee!
Melatonin is a well known sleep aid. I like the dissolve under the tongue type and you need to take it at least half hour before bed. The pill form helps our natural melatonin be enough, as again levels fall as we get older.
Tart cherry juice (you want one with no added sugar or other Juice, just plain tart cherry, I get mine on Amazon because the grocery store brands have sugar added or are apple juice with a little cherry). Tart cherry is rich in melatonin naturally and I only use a shot glass size amount half hour before bed.
I don't do any of these together, I do what I feel like if needed. Sometimes doing something natural for a while helps reset then you don't need it again until something disturbs your sleep cycles. I do find if I get too much melatonin ( too big a glass or the pills,too many nights) that I can get weird dreams for that night.
If you are getting up to pee in the night and you eat gluten containing stuff, such as bread or cereal, it's worth an experiment to eliminate gluten for a few weeks to see if it makes a difference. It sure did for me, much to my surprise! It's an obscure symptom of gluten intolerance I happened to come across but decided to try. And within a few days I began to sleep through the night at least 5 hours straight, or often even 7, when I had been getting up 3 or more times and sleeping late to make up for lost hours while up and down. Now if I eat gluten, accidentally or on purpose, I pay with a night of up and down, until it works it's way out.
Last, but not least- consider that you could have a sleep disorder needing treatment such as Cpap. Obstructive apnea is not the only disorder treated by breathing machines. For instance I have upper airway restrictive disorder where my airways get tighter at night, partially due to asthma. Proper treatment (APAP machine which auto adjusts to the pressure I need) took me from tired after 10 or more hours of sleep, to awake amd rested enough in 6.5 to 7 hours. That's why early in my joining here you never saw me post until after noon California time and now I'm often here by 9:30!

Velda, interesting thoughts on eating possibly being the cause for multiple "ups" during the night. Some nights are terrible. But the last two great. I'm going to start paying more attention to food. I know it's not gluten in my case because I know I had gotten both days.
