Time Change Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Time Change Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Oct 31, 2015 6:38 am

Good Morning all,

Yep, time to turn those clocks back an hour when you go to bed tonight. Hard to believe that we "Fall Back" when seems like we just had "Spring Forward".

Watching all the news coming from TX and thinking of all our forum sisters who live down there. Hoping and praying that you and loved ones are all safe. So much rain, flooding, tornadoes, severe storms yesterday and even into the morning hours today yet. And this whole system is gradually moving east into MS,AL, LA, GA etc. Anita and Martha, looks like a lot of rain headed your way. Hope Sarah has reached home or at least off the road someplace for now. Beginning to think that those of you who are heading for the SW might have to revise your plans and move more north and not through TX.

JudyJB, I well remember watching the reports of the fires that swept Detroit on Devils Night years ago. Devils Night may have been a Michigan thing back then. And also of he "Angel Patrols" who would drive the streets to protect their neighborhoods. Now the irony of it all is that Detroit has lost so much population that many of said neighborhoods are deserted and it's costing them millions of dollars to have all those abandoned homes torn down

Rain on forecast for here today too. Nothing much on my agenda for today either. Wondering how Eileen, Cheryl and Kathy are doing on their last of the year camping trip way up in IL. Having fun I am sure. Good weather for a nice warm campfire.

Time to go read the forum a bit here. I know there are a few new people who have joined and I want to welcome all of you. Hope to see you post and tell us of your adventures. Need to go read your Introductions yet. For those of you in nice weather areas, have a nice weekend, those of you in areas where the rain and storms are or will be, keep safe.

Good Morning, not raining here, but looks like it could any time. Tomorrow, is supposed to be a gully washer  :D What do they mean another hour to sleep, my ole bod wakes up same time , no matter what the clock says, so I will just be starting my day earlier then ever, In other words, I'm not crazy about all this time change stuff.

Not sure what all I might get into today, but something towards getting ready to leave here. Have a call into guy who used to help me around here, not sure what happened in the Spring, but gave him another try. Would like to leave this place looking a little more like someone might be here and cares about it. Its a terrible mess, one thing that has to go is all the foliage out off of my back deck, it was awful when I finally got back last Spring after such a long time being gone. Its all dying off now and will be easier to clean it back up, so hoping he has time and will come and do at least that much for me. I find when outside working I can in no way work as I used to, that two years off, ruined me for sure.(not to mention # of yrs   ). Still have a terrible mess out front , with pine cones and small pine pieces laying all over, the more I do, seems the more there is, you know how that goes. No end.

Have eggs boiling for egg salad, egg salad sandwich seemed good for lunch, been ages, the way eggs cost and the fact I don't eat many , its been awhile so thinking my lunch will taste especially good today. Gotta get moving here, just wanted to wish you all a good week end, and praying all of our Sistahs in the way of that storm out west are all safe. It will be here this evening, but not near as bad, or so they say.

Take care everyone, do something fun for yourself, but Please stay safe,
CArol :)

good morning
cold this morning, had to turn the heater on and its still only 54 degrees. Suppose to get up to 78, it will be nice in the sunshine and I'm so glad its dry. Texas is in such a bad situation.
Loading my car today, I have several boxes packed up
for the Salvation Army and the sooner I get rid of them the sooner I can do another load. Getting rid of lots of kitchen
appliances I won't ever use again and various other items.
Not a whole lot to say today, routine stuff like laundry and dishes are on the agenda.
Ya'll have a good day, be safe, and hope everyone stays dry.

Boo!!! :D Happy Halloween!!

Getting ready to head over to my dads to supervise the raking with the kids there. Rained over night so the leaves are wet and heavy. :(

Don't forget to say "RABBITS!" after midnight! You will have an extra hour to remember tho!

Have a good day and stay warm, safe and dry!

Good Morning,

Wow, Texas and Louisiana not lookin' good weather wise! Hope all our gals and families are safe and stay safe! I guess if I want to go to my cousin's today, I am going to get wet!! Rain has already started.

I took care of some chores yesterday and didn't leave until 5. 3 of the 'kids' and a friend played music and sang for us - very musical bunch. Two of them sang the songs they sang at my cousin's funeral. I just can't begin to express what this visit means to me.

CArol and Sue, some of you gals just have soooo much to take care of!! Ava, those are my kind of temperatures! Barbie, I quit saying 'Rabbits' a couple of months ago after having multiple things go wrong! :D That autobiography template sounds good! Steven and I each answered 365 questions in a little book several years ago - really kind of fun.

Okay, I slept in so best get movin'. Happy Halloween!

Thanks Barbie, I still have my Rabbits sticky note. We'll see if it does any good.

It looks like most of the rain is going North of us but we are under a tornado watch until 2:00. I have the weather channel on but with the sound off because I got tired of the noise. My sister lives about 100 miles Northwest of me and it looks like she is getting a lot of rain. Last night the wind was really blowing and it blew one of the windows open. We have the kind that are suppose to tilt in so they are easy to clean. I have never been able to tilt one in but the wind did. My son is in the bedroom where the attic access panel is and he said it kept jumping up and down.

No plans for today other than to stay off the road.

I've been mostly north and slightly west of that big storm, so I hope it stays that way. Hopefully it will continue to head east as it heads north and be gone by the time I get down there. Chilly here and rain last night, but not downpour.

I am NOT looking forward to losing daylight savings time as it means sun sets even earlier each evening, making it harder to get to next campground before it gets dark. Guess I will have to get earlier starts. I have been going to bed earlier, but really slept in this morning. At least I finally feel rested. Had a couple of bad nights this week where I did not get much sleep.

Too cold and windy out to do any exploring, so I will continue to do work and do some cleaning inside. Tomorrow I head off to West Memphis. Working my way south and west, and eventually to son and family in Napa, CA.

Happy Halloween! I'm headed to the store to pick up fresh donuts. I don't eat them but son and hubby will enjoy.
Last night on news they quoted an estimated number of trillion gallons of Rain that would fall in the next 24 or so hours over the wide area of the big storm from Tx east. If they can pipe oil all over, I still think they should pipe water to California! We sure could us some of that many trillion gallons!
Our chili turned out well again. Kind of weird because Mel decided since he was not up to grinding the meat we should make the hamburger meat into tiny meatballs which he browned. Seemed like more work than getting out the grinder, but he was happy so I'm happy! Never had chili with tiny meatballs!
Sunny and 70's today but looks like we have seen our last 80 degree day for the year. It's sure been a warm fall.
Did you hear that Congress let the bad guys sneak in a provision in the new budget to allow spam calls to our cell phones?! There is a scramble on now between Consumers union and a few in Congress to specifically out law that again because the budget was passed with no changes allowed. We are already starting to have a few spam calls on our cell phones and we try so hard not to give it to people. On house phone I have had 3 "toll free" calls already this morning by 9! I ignored them but it does mess with your sleep when it goes on day after day and wakes you early, the 3 this morning were already blocked but even blocked calls ring once before being shut down. I gotta get NOMOROBO going!
Have a good day all.

Leaf raking got cancelled today due to the very wet leaves. The kids doing the raking were doing another yard before coming to my dads and they called and said it was taking a lot longer at the first yard because of the wet leaves, so we postponed it until next Saturday. Luckily, I have that day off too.

So just been making notes on things to write about in my autobiography. Keep thinking of new things I want to write about.

Hope everyone down south is staying safe!

Barbie, a long time ago I wrote about my childhood for my kids. It is good you are doing that now. At the age of your daughter, my kids could have cared less. Even as adults, they are too focused on their own families, but someday they will want to know about me and my family as I was growing up. I had a very different childhood than they did as my parents both came from large families, so I had 29 first cousins, nearly all living within 3 miles of my home. It was always mobs of cousins.

I included stuff about my going to school and my friends, and especially about my grandparents, who they never met. I also put in some photos when I could. Even if my sons are never interested, I expect that my grandchildren will be. I wish I had bothered to ask my own grandparents more questions before they died. Now, my grandparents and almost all my aunts and uncles are gone as well, so no one to ask questions.

Don't expect your daughter to care right away, but someday, she will be very glad you put all that together for her.

We just got home from a halloween party, really fun time, we dressed up as tourists. Bad plaid shorts, hawaiian print shirts, socks and sandals, with maps hanging out of our pockets, people knew exactly what we were! And I won the pumpkin carving contest, my prize was a yeti can coozie, it's kinda heavy but it did seem to keep my drink very cold.

Judy, being that my daughter is adopted and I haven't been allowed to spend much time with her, I am assuming she will want to know about me (her birthmom) and my family background eventually.

I also didn't ask enough questions of my parents and grandparents, and when I did, I have forgotten a lot of what I was told. I did ask my dad some questions tonight and got a little more information that I didn't know or remember, but he has dementia now so there were things he doesn't remember anymore either. I do have some cousins on both sides who have done some research on family backgrounds, so I can get more info from them. I did start this many years ago and had a lot of information that I collected then, but my computer crashed and wiped it all out. I am hoping I wrote down some of it and I can find it in some of the boxes I have in the garage.
