Devils Night Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Devils Night Friday

Morning everyone,

Next to last day of October already! Man, this week has just flown. Seems like it was just Monday. And of course, being the night before Halloween, it's Devils Night although not sure if it's still a big a deal as used to be when I was growing up and the kids thought of pranks to play on the neighbors or whomever. Never nothing bad, just fun little things.

Kathy, today is your head out for camp day. Hope you gals have a nice weekend and lots of fun. JudyJB, looks like your trip along the Mississippi is going to be a bit wet. Anita, looks like you are going to be taking a trip down memory lane. GypsyRose, saw where it looked like winter paid you a visit yesterday. And looks like a bit of warmth headed this way for next week again. Sarah, have a safe trip home today. Velda, hope Mel can get some pain relief.

Not sure what is on agenda here today. Supposed to be cloudy than sunny and in mid 40's, so might not be out doing much today. Kinda thinking of maybe going down to visit friends bit south here. If they are going to be home. Load of wash is in washer and about to head for dryer. My laundry room is next to my bedroom, so easy to just throw in a load first thing in the morning on the way to the kitchen. Then it can wash while I am having breakfast. Miss Molly is having morning nap already. She's been happily chewing down a smoked ham bone from the Pet store.

So, guess I will mosey along and wish you all a nice day out there :) Was wondering if any of you have these so called new "smart meters" on your house. Been reading that they are causing a lot of controversy. Health issues, fires, keeping track of what we are dong inside out homes etc. I have yet to get mine, but they are working in the area installing them.

Good Morning
Chilly out this morning but the sun is just about to top of hill and should warm nicely. Looks like I will have a nice sunny day for more GA back road travels plus some new to me AL back roads. Todays adventure should also provide more pretty scenery and colorful leaves.
When Nicky and I went for a short walk around 9:00 last night we were treated to a wonderful surprise - the moon was just peeking over a hill top - big bright orange ball. Found a place to sit and watched it climb until the bottom cleared the hill and the gold color changed to white. I so love full moons.
I still need to rinse tanks and feed both of us. Then put things away and hit the road.
Have a great day.

Good Morning!

A good night's sleep and slept in! Must do chores before heading to cousin's later today.

Hoping the weekend campers have a good time and decent weather - I'm sure the first is a given!

Absolutely wonderful day yesterday that I should write a page or two (for myself) about so I don't forget all of it. A few tears and lots of laughter. Last evening 3 of my cousin's (actually daughter of first cousin) children and her hubby were home. Oh the stories! I won't get into those but I have to tell you about the special needs children. One is a 21 year old Romanian orphan they 'adopted' two or three years ago. She has fetal alcohol syndrome - is so happy, funny and helpful but a little too excited all the time. A sweetheart. She would say something that would have me in tears laughing and then be worried she made me sad!

Then there is the 7/8 year old boy, the son of a friend, with cerebral palsy. What a happy boy! He has an older brother and sister (10 and ?) who are so good with him as is the 21 year old.

I'm noticing many words missing letters as I type - I may be missing more than Carolb's 'u' if this keeps up!

Sarah, glad you are having a good drive home! Liz, nice to see the photo of your little gtg. Velda, I think of you and sorry hubby is still having so much pain.

Must get a move on here! Have a good day all and safe travels.

Sue, my timing on my trip was perfect because most of the rain was south of me. I had one rainy day a couple of days ago, but has been sunny ever since--chilly, but sunny. Now that I am headed south in earnest, the rain has gone east and is visiting you as rain/snow/slush. Right now I am in the corner of Kentucky that borders the Mississippi. Campground has a view of the river from a bluff. It is warming up, and I have had breakfast, so after a bit of work, I will head out for a walk along the bluff and to take some photos.

Lots of trees, and I was worried about satellite TV, but I managed to get a signal through the spaces between, so I am happy. Cell service and internet connection is poor, so I had to pay for their commercial connection to get my work done. I'll be here for another two nights so I am hoping to get my stuff mostly done before I move on Sunday.

Oh, and Sue, don't forget that in Detroit, it is Angel's Night. About 40 years ago, vandals used the excuse of Devil's Night to set hundreds of vacant houses on fire in the city. Ever since then, up to 50,000 citizen "angels" get out in cars and on foot and patrol the entire city the two nights before Halloween. Who says Detroit is not a great city?? http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index ... to_ke.html

I have not heard of Devils night. But then, I am a native Californian. Going to be a nice Friday and Saturday weather wise, then possibly rain Sunday. I hope we get a few trick or treaters, it's fun to see the costumes. We have candy! Will admit we bought our favorites, just in case no one comes by. LOL
Thanks for the wishes for Mel. It's been a tough 5 weeks. He is channeling his inner chemist, making tinctures he can use for pain, so at least he is busy. He will help today make a big pot of chili this afternoon to eat for supper the next few nights. It's a tradition we have kept for nearly all our 39 years together. We like Fritos, sharp cheddar, diced onion, and sour cream on our chili. When I went to get Fritos yesterday at our local grocery, much to my surprise all they had was tiny bags at $2.50 each! I asked the head clerk and she agreed lots of Fritos are bought for Halloween Chili, and she was surprised to hear they have no larger bags so said she would ask the vendor today. The store is going through a remodel again ( I have seen several in the 29 years I have shopped there) with this time all vinyl floor tile ripped out and they are polishing and staining and finishing the entire concrete floor a section at a time. It will look nice but they have pushed merchandise around and compacted stuff, having less of each through the remodel, so perhaps patience is needed!
Have a good weekend all. Have fun of you are partying. My only costume is a collection of Halloween tshirts which I switch out all week with the new one for this year for tomorrow. Stay safe as you play.

I forgot about my Halloween shirts but they are long sleeve and it's in the 80's today. I never have heard of Devil's night either.

I got my car inspected and made it to Walmart. I saw the city workers unloading traffic barriers around town and wondered is the Omelet Festival is this weekend but it's next weekend. Every year Abbeville has an Omelet Festival in November. On Sunday they will cook a 5,000 egg omelet in a 12' skillet and pass it out to the crowd. It's not really an omelet, it's scrambled eggs. In 30 years I think I have made it there once.

We have some more rain headed this way. I hope it's not a repeat of Sunday and the tornado warning in Texas goes away.

Good afternoon gals! :D
I have the day off today with nothing much to do. One of my winter projects is to finally start my autobiography for my daughter. I found a website called LifeBio that walks you thru the whole process with templates and questions, etc but you can personalize it any way you want to. So I have been busy getting that organized before I get officially started on it. I bought a little tablet with a keyboard to use just for that so it is easier to type on than this big bulky laptop.

The weather was beautiful around here up until a few days ago. It has been cold, rainy and blustery! Even saw some snowflakes the other day! So not ready for that!! The leaves all turned and are on the ground now. It was pretty while it lasted!

Tomorrow is the day my dad gets his yard raked by the local school kids. I have the day off and will be there to supervise (my dad mostly!). Then will probably hang around to hand out candy to the kids later on. Not expecting too many this year tho. Not many young families in the neighborhood anymore. But that just means more candy for me!! :D

Sophie the kitten is doing well! She is a wild one! When she finally wears herself out, she curls up on my chest or neck, purring and napping. So adorable! She sure is getting big quickly tho! What happened to the tiny little kitten that fit in the palm of my hand just two weeks ago?? Wow! Lola is getting more used to her but still doesn't like being ambushed all the time! She will smack Sophie with her paw and Sophie will smack her right back! So funny! Lots of attitude for such a little thing!

Sue, yes I have heard about the "Smart Meters". One of my customers told me his wife has major health issues due to those. They were living in California and got one installed and it took awhile for them to figure out what was causing her problems. They ended up moving up here (we are a little behind the times here) and having a house built and then just recently, the smart meters were installed in their neighborhood. They found an area I believe in West Virginia,
that is (purposely) free of all that kind of thing. No cell phone towers or any other kinds of modern tech stuff that causes health problems. There is also a clinic there that treats the symptoms and ongoing health issues with holistic treatments which he says has helped his wife tremendously. They are selling their house here and moving down there (she already lives there).

Hope you all are having a great day!

I never heard of Devils Night either, but love the counter that Detroit did to remedy the problems!

This park doesn't do anything for Halloween, so this is a very quiet weekend here - although might be our last beautiful weather weekend. Wow, it's great outside!

Anita, I love the family your cousin's have!

Ok, easy weekend for me here - not many hours, and that's ok - I'm loving the time here, especially while the weather is so awesome!

What a wonderful day it turned out to be for a drive along country roads. Sun was out, leaves putting on a show and even the roads were in unusually good shape. And for icing on that cake, got gas for $1.85 gal. at my last stop.
Got home well before dark. Nicky happy to be off leash and making the back yard safe from chipmunks (who have been digging in flower pots while he was gone) once again.
Glad I got to enjoy the day; rain forecast here for both Saturday and Sunday, no more sunshine until next week.
I'm looking forward to a long hot shower and clean sheets tonight.

Interesting article Barbie. Hope Mel is feeling better.
