Preparation Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Preparation Thursday

Postby gingerK » Thu Oct 29, 2015 6:26 am

Good morning gals

Posting this while eating my breakfast ( crème cheese coffee cake and coffee). Working on preparations for my last trip of the year. That means laundry, packing refrig and another trip to the store for things I forgot yesterday.

Cody is doing very well, thank you all for your good wishes and prayers on her behalf. Her farrier comes out this morning to trim up feet on both horses.

Carolb, so sad that you won't be stopping at Kathleen's this year. We shall surely miss your presence and bright smile. It won't be the same without you there. :(

Ava, I thought MY schedule was crazy! You must feel like you meet yourself coming and going. How do you manage that?

Eileen, I had a laugh at your post about the wine! Not to worry, I always carry some spares! (p.s. Sarah said she "made good use of her poncho"!)

Well, b'fast's done so off to turn out horses and get stalls cleaned. Need to run to Ace and get a key made for Karen to do a last minute dog walk on Friday. When the owner texted and asked, I realized I only have one key for her house. I need to have two.

Everyone take care,
Kathy
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Morning Kathy,

Sounds like you are busy getting things ready to roll. Hope you gals have good weather and I know you will have fun. No question there. So glad to hear that Cody is doing good now. Hope that will be the first and last episode of that.

Rain is the word this morning here again, although right now, it's a mix of snow and rain, but at moment isn't doing anything. Planning on going to town later this morning. Want to get oil/filter changed on truck as well as tires rotated and need to put my winter washer fluid in it too. Then that will be done for winter. Need to do a little shopping too. Was thinking of doing load of wash yesterday but then remember I am out of bleach

Did get two of three windows covered with the shrink wrap plastic and am leaving last one for later. Having new door installed in kitchen area and it's right next to that window, so decided to wait till that's done before installing the last of the plastic. Molly and I got our walk in yesterday too despite it raining. Was a misty rain when we went out. She doesn't mind walking in the rain as she is in and out of the house in it too. But she was a pretty wet doggie by time we got home. But that means out comes the towel which she loves. And then spent some time coloring on a page I am working on. Getting the hang of working with colored pencils now and starting to see how different effects can be done.

Carolb, hope the new route you are taking doesn't get you into a mess of rain down south. Poor TX just seems to be getting more and more this year. I know from what Kathy said, the gals are going to miss ysou at early Thanksgiving. Anita is another one I am wondering about as she works her way south. That area she is in is supposed to get winds and rain again. Beth, after working so hard this summer, you deserve to be lazy all you want. Enjoy :)

Well, best get a move on here this morning. Need to get cleaned up, wash hair etc. and not sure if maybe electric company will be here today or not. They are installing new meters on all homes up in northern MI now, so that they don't need to have meter readers come to the house anymore. It will be a better system as won't be any estimated bills, plus give them a better idea of where power outages are. Have a nice day everyone. Those under the weather, hope you get to feeling better and those on the road, keep safe.

Good morning
The nasty weather is gone for now and I need to get on the road this morning. A GA back roads day and I'm later/slower than I had hoped today. Trouble sleeping last night. One cup of coffee left. Only going to try to make it half way home today. My back roads route is adding more than an hour to driving time but think I found a way to avoid both Atlanta and the north GA mountains.
So glad Cody is doing well.
I'll check in tonight - should have free WiFi. Could not get a spot in my first choice of campgrounds; alternate more expensive but nearby.
Have a great day.

Good Morning from Pelham, AL!

I am so happy to be off the wet roads and settled in for a week! Meeting a couple family members this morning to go through old photos, etc. It will be a bit emotional as the local cousin is the daughter of my very dear cousin who passed away after the horrible ordeal last year. This daughter is the one who rescued her and then cared for her until she passed.

Sarah, sounds like me here - cheaper park was unavailable. Being in a truck camper, they always seem to think I need to be near the restroom which puts me near the entrance/exit here so SS is on display! Sue, once I visit with Wendy, I think my travels are going to be weather dependent! If the forecasters could just get it right, that would help! :) I may still be in Louisiana when Carolb shows up!

Ava, they are definitely keeping you on your toes!!

Better get a move on! Have a great day and safe travels!

Morning all!

Finally heard back from the dealer about our Roadtrek (three weeks after we dropped it off). They finished the wash and wax and the maintenance check. They only found a few things that need taking care of so they'll have it another week to attend to those, and we're having the interior steam cleaned as well. Be nice to have her back!

Got a "no" from all those library jobs I applied for, I talked with a woman who works there and she said not to be surprised, no one will hire a recent transplant, too many people move here then turn around and move back home once the novelty wears off. Good to know; so I'm going to start volunteering at the Marine Discovery Center and will be trying to network more. Something will come along eventually.

Having a leisurely blueberry pancake and sausage breakfast this morning as I sit and watch the Mississippi. I am at Trail of Tears state park. It is nothing special in terms of a campground, other than the view of the river. And if trains keep you awake, you would not want to come here!! I was awoken this morning at 7:00 am (very early for me) by one blowing its whistle and barreling past. :o Track is only about 60 feet from me, so it was pretty loud. There are roads down the way so they have to blow their whistles.

Nice to be in an almost empty campground and have your pick of spaces. Won't be that way this weekend at Columbus Belmont in Kentucky, but it will not be 100% packed, and the season is really ramping down. I am slowly headed down the Mississippi, so stop after Columbus Belmont will be Tom Sawyer in West Memphis, which is also directly on the river, but which is wider down there.

Going to try to find an RV dealer near here today to pick up a couple of things, including a wand to rinse my hot water tank. Sounds like everyone is planning on travel or hunkering down for the winter. Hope you can go for a quick trip after your get your RV back, Mickie.

Sun is shining today, but we did have two little rain showers go through yesterday. Every drop counts. We were awakened this morning at 7 on the dot, by a jack hammer next door. They are having plumbing work done. She said they told her its my eucalyptus trees, but our yard is 4 ft above hers with a retaining wall and we have had no issues. On the other hand many in the neighborhood have had concrete and plumbing issues through the years on houses built by developers ( ours was built by a contractor for he and his wife, so has always seemed better built). So I guess we will have a noisy rest of week. Don't these people know we are retired and need our rest?! LOL
Mel is still having a lot of pain in one spot on his neck and I am contemplating what to do since we see oncologist next week and the ENT the next and I see nothing in way of redness or swelling, but hate it that he is miserable. We will head to Sacramento in a bit to resupply green medicine then stop at Costco for stuff I need for chili. I'm doing the chili this year as he just does not feel up to the cooking.
Hope all have a good rest of your day.

Settled in for the night about half way home. No sunshine today but no rain either although still humid. A lot more color in the trees than just a week ago - particularly in the foothills of the north GA mountains. Sorry no photos but take my word they were putting on a show from pale yellow to bright red and orange to mahogany. Pleasant drive even tho I did thread around the long way on back roads all day. Only a few small towns along the way, most all decked out for fall. Not sure if just luck or maybe I'm getting a little better at tricking GPS to get me along routes I want; she did a good job today.

Very disappointed in this campground especially given the cost. Sites are very cramped at least in my section. Internet not working so will give up and add a little to my Verizon as almost out of data; not worth frustration dealing with the park's Internet (not able to get anything at all to load, grrrrr). The one thing I requested when I made reservation yesterday was a level site; was assured I'd get one. Did not happen tho it is not horrible, it is certainly not level. The only part of this CG that is level are the big pull thru sites in a newer section. Last negative is the old power box is built such that I cannot use my surge protector - that makes me very uncomfortable as the park is full (not far off I-75 so I assume mostly early snowbirds headed to FL). Hope that will not be a problem; weather is such that no one should be running A/C and maybe not too many electric heaters tonight. On the positive side, it is only for one night, the sewer hookup is easy to reach with my 10' hose and free cable TV with 15 channels.

Looking at today's title, I thought somebody was getting ready for a colonoscopy again. Glad it was fun preparation!

Vicki and Dave Colman surprised me by stopping in for the night at Sportsman's Cove on their way south. We went out for pizza and had a great chat. I confessed rehoming their Dutch Oven to Sue at the Indiana GTG. They'll be checking with you, Sue, to make sure you use it, lol. I posted a picture in the GTG section.
