Experience and Opinions Please

Postby Wanderer2 » Thu Oct 22, 2015 5:18 pm

Hi Ladies-
My house is off the market for the winter because I don't want to deal with it in the winter and things don't sell here hardly at all in the winter so it isn't worth it. Getting cataract fixed in Feb or March also.
But- I am still looking at rvs and came across one in FL. Link is below, although I couldn't get it to work exactly right. I can't find a lot of info on Monaco Class B rvs regarding quality etc. It is a 2007 and looks pretty good although it does not have a slide, which I prefer. But would consider for a starter if the price was right. 45000 miles. Seems cheap to me and you know what they say-too good to be true, etc. It is with a dealer and I would have to travel to FL to look at it. I am curious though. Any comments are appreciated.
I hope that you are all well, happy and healthy. Linda

I did a search for the dealer and their web site says this unit is sold. That would be a very good price for a 2007 motorhome. Nexus builds and sells motorhomes direct to the public. This is probably something they took in as a trade.

Thank you Martha-yeah I saw that it sold. It did sound good for a 2007. Anyway-the more I explore the more that I learn. Unfortunately, the RV dealers here do not have any or many Class Bs to look at. I would like to do more walk throughs but will still keep looking. Thanks again.

Hi Linda -- to bad the RV is sold, looked like a good deal. I started looking for a class C almost 2 years ago, and ended up buying a Travel Trailer. I could not find what I wanted in my price range, and in the size I wanted. There were buys in other states, but could not afford to chase all over looking. Decided to get a trailer and see how I liked the RV life style (part time) plus I would have my car to travel around in, and better gas mileage. I figure in a couple years I will know what I really want and can upgrade, or change to a Class C or B at that time.
What state are you in? Good luck in your search--

Hi Rosemary-I am in Western North Carolina about 55 miles north of Asheville. I thought about a travel trailer too, but would have to buy a different vehicle as well as the trailer as I currently drive a 4 cyl suv. My thinking is that it is going to cost me more to buy both than a used older Class B or small C. I will keep all of my options open though as I don't know what I will run across in my search. Thanks-Linda

There is a really nice Phoenix Cruise listed in the Trades on this site. It is a good deal and those run forever. The link doesn't work, Beth can get info to you or you can see it on her FB page. It is low miles and appears well taken care of. Just saying.

That's an old link, but I do have all the info and can contact her to find out if it's sold. If not, it's definitely worth considering (if it was me looking).

Bethers-I do remember looking at that link when you first put it up, but do not remember now what the price was or what it looked like :? Would you ask her if it sold? I might be interested, but the location would pose a problem. However, I would like to know. Thanks...

I'll ask. Meantime, it's a 2003 Phoenix Cruiser 2550 with only about 17k miles and she's asking about $25k. If you're on FB, I can show you pics there.

And, yes, it's still available. Probably only because she hasn't listed it other than Facebook right now. If you'd like to talk to get, pm me your number and I'll send it to her.

Thank you again. Well 25K and transportation to the location is going to be too much for me I think. So.. I will just keep my eye out for something closer for now. If my house was sold I would definitely want to look. I need to slow my roll I guess. And not even rolling yet:)) I love corny. Anyway thanks for asking.

I'm new to the board but not new to buying RVs! Started off with 31' Class C then decided I didn't want to tow a vehicle behind it. Sold it and purchased a diesel truck and travel trailer -- after 5 weeks on the road didn't want the hassle of hooking up and unhooking (plus I never did get the hang of backing it up). Sold that and now I have a 26' Class B+ and I think this is going to last me awhile. Looked for at least 6 months before finding my 2003 Dynamax Carri-Go (and it has a slide) with 48K miles at a price I thought was good.

Keep looking.... you will find your ride and this is the time of year people begin to think of selling rather than winterizing. RV NADA gives good price indicators and remember they asking price is a STARTING price for negotiations.

Best of luck,
Patsy

I love when someone finds what is right for THEM. Good for you. I also loved not towing, but because I workamp - decided I need to. The freedom of not having anything to hook/unhook - whether truck/trailer, or rv/toad - well, yes, it's something wondrous (IMO). That said, I find having a toad the lesser of the evils (for ME). The best of all world's for me - would be when I stop workamping (if that ever happens) and if I had the money - I'd have my current rig (C with toad) and smaller B for when I don't want the toad).

I am glad that you found what works for you! That's great. I pretty much decided that I don't want a travel trailer and will continue looking at Class Bs. I know that I will find it sooner or later. Later is actually better I guess, but I am not getting any younger. It is fun to look and I think it will help me figure out what I really like. Thanks for your comments! Enjoy! Linda
