tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

tuesday

Postby carolb » Tue Oct 20, 2015 6:10 am

Gmorning all :)

Oops, sorry Melissa, I didn't explain that very well, & thanks Anita for clarifying. Both valves were replaced & I hadn't tested them on Fri when I got HB home--didn't want to put water in him since we were having 2 nights of deep freeze. Yes,it was Anita who figured out why water was spewing to the outside of my water heater, so I bought a new valve for LeRoy to install. Turns out, a special tool is needed, so I'd been carrying the new valve around for about 6 months. Now, no spewing! Also no s#@t in my dump hose until I release the blackwater valve--life is good :)

Except the enema didn't work LOL The hard plastic tube is about 18 in long, & the idea is that when inserted down the toilet, it'll spray in all directions cleaning the insides of the holding tank. Well, little did I know, the "throat" of my toilet makes a right-angle bend after about 6-8 inches, thus rendering useless my new tool :( Oh, well, at least the corrugated throat got a good cleaning:) So another fine conversation starter for your day LOL

I love it--Dorothy & the Good & Wicked witches! Sarah, I remember that posting pix is easy, it's the remembering HOW to do it when one doesn't do it often ;) I've been shown how a couple times, then forget how when I tray later aaarrrgh! Kathleen even gave me written instructions that I'm pretty sure she got from you--I'm just not good at following written instructions. Maybe I'll have to visit you again, & we can have a marathon lesson till it's second nature to me:)

Ok, beautiful fall weather for the rest of this week--my perennials survived the freeze & should be "good to grow" until the next hard freeze:) I've really enjoyed my fall here--getting my spring cleaning done & preparing flower beds to have blooming bulbs when I return from my trip:) But will also be very happy to get on the road & meet up with many of you!

Y'all have a great day & be safe wherever you are :)

Morning Carolb,

Black water tanks, s&@t in dump lines, enema in toilet, very good conversation for morning breakfast time  Sorry the tube didn't work. Maybe you can sell it to somebody who's system can fit it.

I too am enjoying this long fall. Except getting a bit weary of cleaning up leaves. We are past peak color here, but still a lot of trees yet to turn per say. Last one in my front yard just now starting to get it's act together. Hard to believe that Saturday was snowy and cold and yesterday sunny and mid 60's. Got my big snow blower ready to go to work when I need it. Fresh oil in it's tummy and grease elsewhere. Lawn tractor given a good bath and ready to put away for season. Molly and I took our daily walk and she also got playtime with her doggie friend l after in the evening. We just got home and mom nature let loose with a downpour.

So I'm off to make bed, get dressed, go to gas station for blower gas and then get busy blowing leaves. Have an appt. this afternoon, so want to get them done this morning. Hope you all have a good day out there.

Good morning gals!

Wow, Carolb, I think that is three in a row for you so far opening MC! Good!

Had TWO vets come out yesterday! They must be short of helpers to get two vets instead of one vet and one assistant. Cody got her xrays done and both horses got their rabies vax. Now the vets will send Cody's xrays to my farrier so he knows how to trim her for the best effect. She is showing some remodeling of the bone in her feet, due to a mild case of founder years back, but no arthritis in her ankles. Tank will need to get his teeth done again because he has some sharp points on his teeth that need grinding down. Horses teeth continue to grow out of their gums and they usually wear them down evenly by chewing if their jaws are aligned properly, but apparently his aren't. He also had them worked on last fall. Cody had hers done for the first time this spring; she's never needed to have them done before which is pretty good for 26 yrs. old.

Sue, sounds like you're pretty ready for the snowy weather, getting the snowblower all set to go. As far as leaves, I just chop 'em up with the lawnmower until I don't cut grass anymore; then they can just blow around wherever they like to.

Eileen, you'll need to ask Cheryl how to post pics; even with help I'm not able to do it. I tried and tried to post a pic of Angel in my signature and failed.

My Jeep is giving me fits lately, some kind of electrical problem. DH is supposed to talk to his mechanic buddy about it but I'm ready to trade it in. Problem is, I don't really see anything else I want to buy. I look at cars on the road but most of the ones I see are not pretty. I don't' want another Jeep-after this black lemon I'm kind of "soured" on the brand. I do need an suv though. So I have to schedule some recall work on both the Jeep and DH's truck, will go look at new SUV's while getting the work done. I'm leaning towards the Dodge Durango but don't know if I can afford the loaded one I really want.

Well that's about all for me, everyone take care
Kathy

Good morning to All. I envy everyone who is on the road seeing new and different things. Wish we could take a short trip. In fact we were talking about going to Beatty, NV for a weekend, but now the highway there has been flooded with more rain in forecast. So...
I'm trying to adjust my attitude since my surgery. The continual pain I've had for a couple of years is gone. But so is my bladder control - it is gone! So guess it is diapers until after the first of the year when I can have surgery again. Going to Wallys later to get Tena and Depends - they I'll be able to dance without worry. Except I can't dance anyway. Had to make trip to doc yesterday to control some bleeding that was worsening by the day. Chemical cauterization and it seems to be better.
They gave me medication in pill form for the leaking - With insurance it is $50 a month - it better help. But it can cause blurred vision and drymouth. And isn't guaranteed to work. It might end up just getting thrown out.
However Bill is doing so good here in the desert...like a different person. No sneezing, runny eyes and best of all no problems with his breathing. Now instead of And the weather her in Vegas has finally cooled down - it will be in low80s to high 70s for the rest of the week. With tiny chance of rain now and then. Had a storm laying down all day he is forever on the move. He looks 10 years younger.
Luckily we got all our moving in stuff done before I went under the knife - so now we are just enjoying our home and life here. My son is sending girls from his cleaning service over once a week...boy I can get used to that.
here a day ago. Hail and everything.
blathered on enough I guess. We have a delicious pot of Mexican chocolate coffee on. Help yourselves. If anyone comes through and stops in Vegas give us a call.

Good morning, at least I hope it gets to be one, rough start.
Got ride to CG last night and was so tired I left my purse and camera in car. At least I noticed it this morning before I got down the road to a gas stop. Waiting for her to bring my purse so I can get on the road.

Thanks carolb, I think I have a better idea of what you did or had done. As for flushing out your black tank there are flush systems you can have installed if you wish. They mount a spray nozzle in the tank and you hook up a water hose (like you would for city water) and it sprays water in your tank to flush all the yuck out. I find mine very useful. That and a clear connection pipe to see when the tank is clean.

I learn so much reading morning coffee like horse teeth continue to grow. I don't always post to MC but I enjoy reading it.

I also found NV and the south west gave my allergies a rest.

Well, off to work 8-)

Well Sarah if it's not one thing it's 10 others. At least you get to take a trip. I guess you are finished with your house repairs and painting. I wish I had a big screen porch.

I didn't get much sleep last night. About the time I would go to sleep Frosty and Possie would start chasing each other and knocking things down. Possie made the mistake of following me out when I went to feed the horse. She can cool her heels on the porch for a while. The cats that usually hang around on the carport follow me to the barn. One of the barn cats doesn't want them coming to her barn. She got behind 2 this morning and chased them all the way back to the house. Her name is Gypsy but I call her the enforcer.

We have a 20% chance of rain but I don't see any on the radar. If it doesn't rain I will have to water my orange tree. The pecan tree in the yard is dropping pecans but it doesn't look like it will be a lot this year. They are the little ones and they are hard to peel. I wish I had planted some good pecan trees but anything I want to plant is in the way.

We got another letter about a land appraisal where the state wants to change an intersection. This will be the third time the same place has been appraised. I called last year and ask why they were appraising it again. The appraisal is only good for a year and if the work hasn't been done they appraise it again. A good example of the government wasting money. I would like to know how much the state is paying for this. The first map they showed up with didn't even have the roads identified correctly.

Good morning, all! Nice and sunny here in southern Illinois, but cold nights. Supposed to get up to 73 today, so it is bike riding to town day for me. I have spent last two days catching up on grading things. That is just my tradeoff for my half-time teaching that pays my travel bills. The days I have to work also give me a chance to sit and rest up. I have a full two classes this semester, total of 50 students, and some long-term things I have to work on during the semester, so it will be more busy than usual.

I will be headed to St Louis on Thursday, staying near there, and then moving on to Hannibal to stay at the COE Mark Twain Lake for a couple of days, before heading down the Mississippi. Got to call today to check on one COE campground at Lake Twain because online it says it is open but no sites are open for reservations on Recreation.gov.

Oh, and Carol, I will be in LV in early December for a few days. Will message you closer to then.

Anyway, off to some exploring today. Love zipping along almost effortlessly on my electric bike!!

good morning ladies, at least its still mid morning here. We had another big storm go through during the night, lots of rain, minimal wind but lots of thunder BOOMS! It woke us up and I had a hard time getting Maggie to settle back down.
I'm feeling a little bit disappointed here today as I got the call back on another biopsy, looks like another squamous cell
has to be removed. I really didn't think this one was going to be any worry but its very small and best to get it out early
before it has time to grow. I really thought I was done with this, but guess I never will be done. I have to accept that and
count my blessings that it could be worse. I tell myself, thats the point of getting the squamous early so it doesn't become worse. Still need to make an appoint for the ocuologist, (eye surgeon) to remove a cyst from my eyelid that really bothers me. I don't feel so strong anymore, actually, I'm feeling a lot more vulnerable to this old age thing. oh well, nothing
I can do about that.Ya'll have a great day, be safe and there will be good days ahead.

Just a bit after noon here but haven't posted for awhile...
It is cooling off a bit here again but still not bad, in the 60's. We are at peak for fall colors and it is beautiful around here! Am hoping to get out on the kayak one more time before putting it away for the winter. This summer just flew by! Can't believe that October is already more than half gone too! Why don't the winters go by that fast??

For those of you not on Facebook, I was coerced by my landlord into finding a new home for my ferrets last month  . I did find them an awesome new home with 7 other ferrets to play with and they are doing great there! I get updates and photos and can visit with them when I want, as well!

The good news is that I got a new little kitten! :D It was so quiet and boring around here without the ferrets and even Lola seemed bored. After much searching, I rescued a 6+ week old kitten who is an absolutely adorable, sweet, affectionate white Siamese tabby. She has huge sapphire blue eyes! When she is not playing, she is curled up on my lap or chest or around my neck, purring loudly! Haven't decided on a name yet but thinking either Sapphire or Sophie. So far, Lola is in hiding but is getting better each day and isn't hissing or growling anymore. I think she will be fine with the kitten in a week or two. Definitely not boring around here now!!

(sorry about the lines on the photo. I need a new camera)

Sorry about your ferrets but happy you found a good home for them. Your new kitty looks very sweet! Good to see you post we've missed you!

Martha wish I had some of your pecans. I try to get 20 pounds every year and they are getting harder and more expensive to find. I hope Harold is feeling better.
I know a lot about horses for someone who has never personally owned one. My first husband was a farrier and taught stable management and riding courses here at the university. Seems as though every time we had something special planned he had a horse get sick or foal. The expression 'as strong as a horse' doesn't seem to apply much.

What a cute little kitten Barbie. She's so sweet. She's looking at the camera like she knows you're taking her pic and you said, "Smile!" So sorry about your ferrets, but glad you can visit them.

Sorry about your ferrets, Barbi. Glad they went to a good home though. And a new kitten, fun!

BJ, for as big and muscular as horses are, yes, they are very delicate. Even the change in the weather used to make my Ginger get sick.

In spite of the late start, a couple of GPS glitches (like a big chunk of US 411 missing from maps between Gadsden, AL and the GA line), and some road construction I made it to McKinney COE in time to enjoy a little remaining daylight and catch up with Mitch. And she had enough wood left that we enjoyed a couple of hours around a campfire. Actually it was a beautiful sunny day for driving and I did keep reminding myself how lucky it was to have realized the purse was missing before I got on the road this morning. Even the allergies are a little better this evening. Kind of a long drive tomorrow and a little closer to Atlanta than I wanted to be but at least it will be above the belt line. Once I get out of all the Atlanta sprawl towns, will drop to I-85 to help speed the travel time up a bit.
