Cold Sunday Morning

Yoo Hoo Carolb, where are you this morning. Too cold to get out of nice warm bed It's cold here this morning and another light dusting of the white stuff. But 60 0n forecast for tomorrow. No wonder the poor trees don't know how to act this fall. Some have turned and dropped their leaves and some are still green, just now getting a hint of color.

Have a little time here before getting dressed for church, so thought I would just stop by and say hi. House got cleaned yesterday, Molly got her walk, I colored on my page for awhile, watched the U of M/MSU game a bit, so all's well in my world at the moment.

So sorry to hear of Lyn's SIL passing, posted in the thread. Hope all's going well with everybody else. Peggy are you staying in the SW for winter or coming back home? JudyJB, let me know how things are on the Great River Road if you get down it. I want to do the IL section of it maybe next year. Tina, did you get your Hornbeck boat home yet? Kathy, hope things have improved for you these past couple of days. Cheryl, how are you doing and how is your mom?

Morning! Hope it is a great one for most of us and peaceful enough if it can't make it to great. Josef is ready to head off to his first puppy match up the road in Dayton. And, no Sue, I don't know when the kayak is coming home to a roof top near me. Audrey is entered in several dog shows and I start a brief seasonal scoring project November 4. It is paid for and sitting in their barn waiting. The "man in the recliner" may even drive up and pick it up and make his own stop by to see Ben.

It is very frosty outside this morning here in SW Ohio. I have the electric heater on inside the rig but I am thinking that I may go ahead and drain the water heater and put in the pink stuff. Even if I go ahead and use Beatrix for the up coming dog shows, I will feel safer knowing that most of the pipes are protected. I can use some pink stuff in the grey and black tanks and carry water on board to cover what we need.

Well I am off for some doggy adventures!

Chilly here but the sun is coming out!

I would really like a day off but once again I have a mess in here! Grandson hadn't said anything more about driving SS until yesterday. I had hoped his mother would teach him to drive a stick. I told him to text me when he is free today and we'd have a go at it.

Just posted in the GTG section that I'll be in the Birmingham area the first week of November.

Martha, sorry to read about Harold and broken ribs! Ava, what a cute 3 year old! Tina, northern Wisconsin has gotten so cold that LeRoy winterized his camper. He'll head south next week.

The Brewfest weekend at my daughter's was fun, but not what it used to be in some respects. No game night which was disappointing, but people either have long drives home or little kids that are tired. Daughter rented a huge Disney bounce house that was a big hit. Fantastic food!

I have much to do before I pull out of here Tuesday morning.

Good morning Everybody from beautiful blue skies and sunny NM. I have to tell Lori and Doc that I had dinner at the Adobe Deli. It is a good restaurant with an eclectic collection of memorabilia. Sue, as long as I'm having fun I will stay in the SW. I am thinking of booking a trip to Hawaii from San Diego sometime between now and March. Does anybody have any suggestions as to where to stay and what not to miss. Anybody interested in joining me?

Frosty here in northern IL. Fall is definitely here but talking a warm up again this week, probably the last hurrah tho. Mom is hanging in there. Thanks for asking Sue. The shingles themselves are over with, but the residual effects are what is driving her nuts. Still can't hear and took here to eye doctor yesterday because she felt like she has something in her eye. But right now everything that's going on are the nerves that were affected (she had the shingles on her head & face), and the nerves can stay tingly, etc for a long time. Still driving her around too since she can't hear yet. Thanks for asking Sue.

Trying to decide on a cover for Colt (zipper or no zipper). Would like to get it ordered so it's there when I take him in for winterizing after the Halloween gtg with Kathy & Eileen. Tanks have been empty and water lines are dry (hopefully) so with the warm up and another 2 weeks, hoping no hard freezes occur until then.

Staring at the back yard and thinking I need to cut the grass one more time. Better than shoveling snow right now tho.

Still fighting my own leftover cold that started as the flu. Just need to lay low, but that's kind of impossible right now.

Sorry I again can't remember all I've read, but am I keeping up with you. Have a good day ladies & stay safe if you're on the roads.

Good morning from "not Yosemite."

If you all saw the news on Thursday night or Friday, you probably caught the mention of mudslides on 2 big freeways in So. California. Well ... we were less than a mile from the one on I-5 Thursday night. Needless to say, we didn't make it to Yosemite. But we had a delightful Plan B, and have been camping with our good friends, the SCCampers, at a nice KOA outside of Ojai. Definitely made some tasty lemonade out of lemons. The weather turned in Yosemite, too, to the point that we'd probably would have been stuck inside the rig for a good portion of the time, so being where we could be outside and enjoy some old friendships was as good as it could get.

I don't know when we'll get to Yosemite-- getting a spot in the Valley is like winning the lottery. But we'll get there some day.

Sue, have not made it to the Great River Road yet. I am at Lake Carlyle, in southern IL, about 60 miles east of St. Louis. It is a COE park, so very nice and cheap. I am spending five nights here to relax and recover from my busy schedule in Michigan and Ohio. A great trip would be to take the Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez, MS--total of 444 miles of gorgeous scenery with no stop lights. Some free camping on the trace, but you can get off easily to state parks and commercial campground. Then, you could take the Great River Road back north!

Rushed to get a ton of things graded for my tomorrow night deadline, so I will stay indoors all day today and save my exploring until Tuesday. Just one of the negatives of working half-time while traveling is that sometimes I have to postpone sightseeing. Also, it was cold, cold, cold last several days and is supposed to warm up to 75 by then. Below freezing last two nights, also.

And Cheryl, shingles on your face and head must be awful. I had them as a child but only on my torso, which has to be much easier. Hope your mother gets her vision and hearing back soon.

Hi Peggy. I've been to Maui 35 times. Stayed 34 times at Mana Kai Maui in Kihei, Maui. Only missed the one time when they were closed for renovation. Located right on a mile-long+ beach bordered by private homes which makes it much less busy than places like Ka'anipali. Great snorkeling, near beautiful Wailea, get a car with reservation and about 30-40 minutes to Lahaina and Ka'anipali. They have 1 and 2 bedroom units with kitchen that aren't cheap, but the view from their balconies is priceless. I used to get a 1-bedroom unit, but now I watch my money more closely than when I was working. Since I don't spend a lot of time in my room, I usually get the hotel room that doesn't have the balcony and view, but cheaper. I wouldn't go if I couldn't stay there. The first few times I stayed there, the palm trees you see in the pictures below were so short the palm fronds would sometimes hit you in the face when lying by the pool!

At the end of Sunday. I have been to Hawaii 8 times - 7 of those to Maui. Loved it each time. Believe the last time was when my daughter graduated from college. Now I prefer not to fly and would prefer travel by RV. Peggy if you haven't been, you should just to see and feel the wonderful tropical weather and walk on the beach. It is beautiful.

You might check out VRBO, just to see if there's something you might like within your price range. They offer many types of rentals.

Maui is a wonderful place to visit. Lots to see on such a small island (compared to the mainland).

We lived on Oahu, in Wahiawa for 3 years right after we got married. We visited Maui, Kauai, and the Island of Hawaii, called the Big Island a few times. It depends on your goal as to what island to go to For vacation. What do you want to do? I can give you ideas on each of stuff to see.
