Chevy Spark?

Postby Cudedog » Sat Oct 17, 2015 1:43 am

Someone on here a while back bought a Chevy Spark (I think it might have been Sandy - Monik 7, but I'm not sure).

If I recall correctly, they pretty much hated it. I am looking to get another every-day vehicle. My current vehicle is 10 years old and has 154,000 miles on it - it still runs well, and is reliable, but it is starting to nickel-and-dime me. I am looking at a new Spark (oddly, used advertised prices for the Spark are often higher than new advertised prices!), but would like some input first.

Do you still have the Spark? If yes, do you still hate it? If so, why?

And if you still have it, and have decided that you actually like it, I would like to know the why of that also.

And anything else anyone has to say about the Spark would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

It wasn't me but I have a friend back in IL who had one, she didn't like it at all. Too cramped, poorly built, and she said it felt weirdly laid out from the drivers seat. She switched to a Nissan Versa and loved that one.

Anne, I believe that might have been Karen West that bought the new Spark. I think they had to replace/rebuild the motor. See if you can search for her post or PM her. I love my Chevy HHR. It is a 2008 and currently has 118,000 rambling miles!

I bought a new 2014 Spark and yes, they had to replace the pistons, rods and transmission. Since then I've had no problems with it. There are many things I like; feels solid on the road at 70 mph, I'm getting about 28 mpg in city driving; parks really easily and I like the hatchback. The road noise inside is pretty loud and with its 1.4 l engine its not the most powerful car on the road which means its acceleration ain't the greatest but for its price, I'm happy with it. I'd suggest you try to find one that is a year old so you don't get hit with the huge new car depreciation.

Nope, it wasn't me. I'm a committed Toyota Prius driver. Got my first in 2003 and updated in 2010. Addicted to 50+ mpg and so far no problems with either one I've had. The first had 100,000 miles on it when I traded it in and my current one has about 42,000. I think that's pretty good to have absolutely no problems in that many miles. Just regular maintenance.
