Monday and Chore Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday and Chore Day

Morning everyone,

Monday again. October is really moving along here. Getting downright pretty up here too. Fall color is coming in and it's beautiful this year again. Not at peak yet but figure it will be getting close by weeks end. Not in a hurry to see it go.

Had a great weekend. Spent Saturday over at Otsego Lake State Park where I used to work, visiting with one of my former co workers and also got to visit with one of my former bosses and his wife who were also there. We had a very close knit groupl of workers at this park when he was boss and to this day, most have kept in touch with each other. If was fun watching them start work at fresh out of high school graduates heading to college, working the summers during their college years and heading off to careers and marriage and now raising families of their own. We said there will never be another goup of works lke that group was. It just happened. Boss is now manager of Petoskey State Park. Former lead Ranger whom I worked under while at Otsego has returned as the manager of the park after about 3 years at Burt Lake State Park. So it was a great Halloweenfest and kind of a "family reunion" for some of us since she is back.

Yesterday was getting chores done around here. Got my house windows washed, my truck and trailer washed and my trailer covered up for the winter. Today I plan to work in the yard and pick up the ton of pine needles that the wind has blown down from the pine out front and hopefully remove the shrubs in front of my flagpole that got winter burned last year and really haven't recovered. Heading into the low 70's again today. Now I know this sounds really ambitious to some of you, but when you listen to the wild geese flying overhead, you know it's time to get a move on. Winter's coming  Never know how long this nice weather is going to last or whether we will see anymore warm days like this.

Ava, been there done that with messes too. Catherine, sounds like you are enjoying CA life so far. Got the best of both worlds right now.

So, time to be off and get moving here. Hope you enjoy your day today.

Hi All -- Pretty day here in WI, sunny with blue sky. Today is a cleaning day, have to get all done that I have been letting go. I am going up to Superior tomorrow for the rest of the week, as my daughter and her volleyball team will be here for a tournament on Friday. No way am I staying in my house with 12 other people !!
A friend and I went for a ride along the Mississippi yesterday, what a gorgeous day! 85 and sunny -- I have never seen so many motorcycles, convertibles and old time cars all out to enjoy the weather and the scenery, as well as the little towns along the river. A fun day.
So today is cleaning and laundry day - it is so nice not to be working!
Have a great day everyone --

Good morning Everybody. Sue, I admire your orderliness. I am finding that if I make a list of things to do while travelling that I get a sense of purpose; instead of just wandering. Yesterday was the DAY. I took my balloon ride. 1and1/2 hours floating over the Rio Grande with mists rising and colorful balloons all around us. The winds took us north about 11 miles in clear blue skies and we saw the sun rise. I loved every minute of it from lift off to set down, and then I fainted. Go figure. I felt a little nauseous on landing, so I was leaning over the basket breathing deeply when my mates said I leaned into them and slipped quietly to the floor! If you ever want to do this, do it now so you will have the thrill for the rest of your life. Enjoy today. Peggy

Morning all,
Maybe I need Sue to come get me going on some projects around here, you have so much energy! I have none!

Peggy, do you think maybe you didn't have enough oxygen being up so high and that's why you fainted? Glad you did enjoy the balloon ride anyway.
Did you take pictures from the balloon?

Rosemary, what a nice trip that sounded like. We also have the Great River Road here in IL but I've yet to follow more than just a wee bit of it.

Anita, you still having fun with the football games in KS?

Not much to tell here today, it's just Monday and back to work. Had a campfire on my patio with DH last night and just had to have my S'mores. Tonight we have to attend a friend's Mother's wake. She passed away after a long illness but it was a blessing she got to go at home surrounded by family.

Everyone take care,
Kathy

(p.s. I'm up to mouse #4 now. All caught in the upstairs storage closet. At least they aren't running through my kitchen :o )
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

Morning all, just got back from a nice walk with the water aerobics ladies, the water has gotten a bit too cool so we're switching to walking for the winter.

Peggy, sounds like a super ride!! Is the landing soft? I've always wanted to try it but was afraid the landing would hurt my bum leg.

Mickie, we had a soft landing. Our pilot was an expert and had done this thousands of times. We landed in a farmer's field and had to hop the balloon over several fences and into a housing development. Needless to say I got out of the basket; no hopping for me. I think the fainting was caused by several factors as I've never fainted before. Pilot said it wasn't the first time someone fainted and it won't be the last.
I took lots if pictures and videos on my cell phone, but I don't know how to post a picture on the forum from a cell phone and I'm not on Facebook. I can send photos by email.

Good Morning, I tried to post earlier but kept getting an error message. Peggy so proud of you and very glad you enjoyed the ride, too bad about the fainting at the end. I did that one time at the dentist, when he finished and I walked out to the reception room I just went right out. Never has happened again though thank goodness.

It was an absolutely beautiful, perfect weather weekend here. We had our annual block party yesterday and although it is a small group, we probably won't see most of the people until next year. It is amazing how so many are never seen outside and there is no sign to tell whether anyone lives in their home, unless you happen to see a car leave their garage. One year on my name tag I wrote 'Charley's Mom' because those who did get out knew him.

Sue I saw this contest for pumpkins on Face Book and thought you might want to enter your pumpkin RV, the one you made is way cuter than the one that was pictured.
Carve your way through October with Go RVing!

Opps...It won't let me paste the link for the contest but if you are on FB maybe you can find it or I'll try again later.

Peggy - I will try it next time I'm in ABQ! I'll be going solo too as my beloved seems to be terrified of heights these days.

I'll be driving down the Great River Road in a couple of weeks, so would appreciate any suggestions from anyone who is familiar with it. I am catching it at St. Louis, MO. It's part of my trip to get to California in time for Christmas with my grandkids.

I visited with my niece and her family last night, but today is going to be a work day. Got papers to grade, as usual, and will need to dump my tanks. If I have time, I will use my rental car to go to Laundromat for a couple of loads, since I don't know when I will next have easy laundry access. Heading to the Fleetwood factory service Wednesday and then on to Lake Carlyle in Illinois.

And in the meantime, I am really enjoying this campsite right on Lake Erie on this beautiful sunny and breezy day.

Morning everyone! It's another sunny, blue sky California day. Supposed to reach 90 every day this week! Pretty warm for October. Need to get moving to Curves soon then taking son and husband for flu shots, then hair cut this afternoon. So busy day. Son sees his doctor tomorrow for regular checkup then Mel sees his radiation oncologist Wednesday . I'm mostly along for the ride it seems err make that being chauffeur. Sounds like all of you are accomplishing lots of things needing doing. Years ago I was on my way home from work and saw the balloons taking off in a big park in Reno, stopped to watch and ended up impromptu part of a chase crew. The ride looks like great fun. The balloons are so colorful and beautiful. Mel and I went a few years back up north on the high desert to a small town in CA balloon festival. Unfortunately most days there was no launch due to wind conditions, but the last morning it all came together and there was the mass launch. Also went to night burn, so beautiful. I'd go to ABQ Festival in a heartbeat if I could.
Have a good day all.

My parents took a balloon ride from San Martín south of San José, CA one year. We drove around on our own to chase them. The balloon company had their own chase crew. When they landed we were all there and the official chase crew was working to hold them down. Then the balloon started to go up again and one of the ropes on the balloon wrapped around the leg of one of the crew. We were standing close watching and my claim to fame was that I saw the rope around his leg as he fell and the balloon started to lift him up. I grabbed the rope and unwound it from his leg when he was just starting to be lifted up upside down. Quite exciting. For years that seemed to be the only thing about me that my mom was proud of.
