Saturday Morning, and I'm still here!!!!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday Morning, and I'm still here!!!!

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:02 am

Good morning, all.....It's been months since I started the Morning Coffee...heck, it's been 2 weeks since I've had coffee in the morning...tea, only...had some issues with my GERD meds. so until that's straightened out, I'm a total tea drinker...(I miss the coffee, but my tummy is getting better...)

We've been here at Inland Harbor RV Park, Darien, GA for 3 months now....it is our forever winter home now....The Sultan's COPD is getting a little worse, and we've done most if our traveling, so, bought a 2nd 5er, put it on a site here and have become GA residents....we love it!!! (Yes, we now have 2 5ers....1 in PA and 1 here...)

Speaking of the Sultan, he just rolled out of bed, so I'll keep this short and will check back later...

Have a great day, all...

It's Saturday!

Postby Colliemom » Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:20 am

Morning all,

It's Saturday, the which of for those of us who are retired, just another day of the week, but for those who are still working, a day to sleep in (ha), run errands and do whatever you want today. No alarms, no bosses, etc.

Halloweenfest weekend at the State Park where I used to work, so will be going over there later on and see what's up. Always enjoy walking through the campground looking at the campsite decorations. Some people really go all out. I sometimes wonder how they get all that stuff up here. And of course the hayrides will be going through the park as well as pumpkin painting, crafts and later this afternoon, the park roads will be closed and trick or treating takes place. The kids and adults love it. Both wear costumes. No all the adults, but some do. And I sometimes think the amount of candy that gets passed out from the campers would eqlual a whole section of store shelving, hahaha

Peggy, you asked if any of us do things alone. I do all the time It's not that I don't want to do things with others, but I also enjoy doing my own thing. I don't let the fact that I am alone, stop me from doing things I want to do. Like you taking the balloon ride. I have long wanted to do that. My trip out west was another. It's either do it yourself or deny yourself the pleasure of doing and seeing things.

See on the Weather Channel this morning that they are talking the El Nino winter again. They don't have a good concrete model to see exactly what is might do but it looks like the jet streams will be wide apart. The northern one into Canada and warmer than normal temps from the PNW across the Plains and into NE More drier air to meaning less snow. Southern one way down south and wetter for the SW and FL. Plus cooler than normal temps all across the southern part of the U.S. which could mean more snow and ice for the south. Be interesting to see how it goes. But it's going to be what it's gong to be.

Went to Apple Festival yesterday. Didn't seem like as many people, but then morning was chilly and damp, so maybe more are waiting till today. Also seemed like less crafters too. I think it's getting to expensive for crafters anymore with cost of spots to put up their booths and also the materials t make their crafts. Can't clear much profit anymore. I know I see less and lees woodcrafts than in the past as cost of lumber has risen. I don't do much anymore either cause of it.

Well, guess will mosey along her. Time for weekly bookkeeping and run the vac in the house. Have a nice day everyone. :)

Poofed my posts TWICE. This is short and sweet.

Finishing one job and into another. Got a cat who's in kidney failure so I'm watching her like a hawk does a mouse. Getting her to keep eating until Mom comes home tomorrow is the key.

Hooray I get to go to the last car show tonight. One client couldn't find anyone to stay with her teenaged son (whom she doesn't trust to stay alone) and so she cancelled. Leaves me enough time to get to the car show.

Sue, I am learning that if I want to go and do things, I pretty much have to do them myself. Not many of my friends around here are into camping and I don't want to wait until DH retires to go and see things. So it's off I go, and maybe I take Buddy with me. I'm slowly ventuing farther. You and Liz and Nan and Tina and all my other WRV sisters who travel are great inspiration for me, I hope to follow in their tire tracks!

Everyone take care,
Kathy

Oh Lori, Good Morning, I didn't see your post before I wrote on Sue's. Glad to have you back. Think you guys are in a good place to catch a lot of us going back and forth and I love that area. Little far east for my travels, but hey, never can tell about me, I may surprise you guys :D Wish you'd join us more often here, but I know too, that you can't set on this computer long or you never get anything done :D or that is what happens in this household.

Think you all have chosen two good areas of the country to spend your time in, best part of where you are is we can hear from you, the Pa one, we loose ya :)

Take care, and good luck in your new home,
CArol :)

good morning, and welcome back Lori, have missed you and your crew, congrats on the new purchase, it will certainly make the seasonal traveling back and forth a whole lot easier.
I'm on fall break this week, will be doing some catching up in the yard, the shed and the inside closets. Then of course there
will be those days I just want to veg and do nothing. Tuesday will be a good day for that as I have a doctor appt and that pretty much shoots the day by the time I go and get back.
With that in mind, I'm off the computer to get outside and do a little of "something" while its cool. Suppose to be a warm
day today.
Ya'll enjoy your day

Good Morning! Coffee is on….grab a cup and help yourself…this ain’t no restaurant! Suppose to be a gorgeous day up into the 80’s and same tomorrow. I have a three day weekend…woohoo! Headed to my hometown today to see mom and spend the night with my sister. Tonight there is a benefit for a friend who rents my mom’s pasture land and I imagine I will see lots of people I haven’t seen for ages. There will be a pork loin feed, silent auction and live auction and dance. Unfortunately the cause of the affair isn’t a happy one. Doug has terminal cancer and is only 60. Just makes me sick…he’s such a great guy. My best friend in high school and I used to baby-sit for Doug and his three younger brothers and they were hell on wheels. Thankfully his parents realized they were a handful and always hired two girls to sit at a time….Donna and I always compared it to team roping. Doug, his wife, son and son-in-law have always been such a help to mom since dad died. This week all the local farmer harvested his crops so the family doesn’t have to worry about that. Doug would have been the first in line to help someone in the same situation.

Well need to do another load of laundry and a little cleaning before I take off. Have a wonderful day. Safe travels to every one of the road. To those who aren't traveling....do something you enjoy!

Good morning all. Sunny and coolish here this morning. Well, I managed to get Lola out for an over night Thursday. I decided to take her and the dogs to my DS's worksite since I just knew it would be a long day! Little did I know he and I would work until midnight trying to get all the bracing set up in preparation for the cement pour for the walls yesterday. The stuff was supposed to be there on Wednesday but didn't get there until late in the afternoon Thursday! Best laid plans always go awry! I was so glad I didn't have to drive the 45 minutes home. I walked the boys one last time and fell into bed and got up early Friday to try to help get things ready for the trucks to come at noon. Luckily I had prepared some food the night before so I managed to feed son and I Thursday night! For some reason my microwave wasn't working and when I said I would heat up supper he commented about the microwave not working...I reminded him that I could heat it up the old fashioned way....on the stove! Was too busy to mess with the microwave then so will explore it more today. Hope I don't have to replace it. So anyway the pour got done despite the rain and not being completely ready. Luckily he had lined up a few orher guys to help! So finally I was able to leave last night and got home bout 8. It was the first time I drove Lola in the wind so that was an adjustment. I just puttered down the road at about 50-55 and let everyone pass me by! I took the time to pull out the wet dirty clothes and food so need to clean her up today. I think my Fitbit blew up the last couple of days! I am so sore and have rediscovered muscles I had forgotten about! But I was glad I could take her with me so I didn't have to worry about the dogs and most important I had a bathroom! Next trip, I hope, will be for fun! But probably not this season, time to think about getting the winterizing done soon. The nights are getting cooler and before I know it it'll be freezing temps! I used the furnace the other night and was warm and cozy.

Sue, sounds like a fun time at the campground! And Lori jumped in too! Been wondering how things were going for you. Glad you've found a place you are happy. Still hoping to meet you when you come to PA! And CArol, a lazy day sounds so nice! You've had a busy time! Tina, the new pup is adoreable! The big guys will teach him the ways of life! And Liz and Nan are in my favorite part of FL! Well, it's getting late and I have got to get my day started! Travel safe if you are on the road any most of all, enjoy the day.

Had a nice dinner with old teaching friends from 30 years ago last night! Four of us have stayed friends ever since then and get together once in a while. Two of them still work in community colleges and talked about security and weird adult students in classrooms in almost empty buildings late at night, and the recent college shootings. Made me glad I teach online and don't have to have direct contact with students.

I am in my favorite Detroit-area campground overlooking lake Erie--cool but beautiful sunny day with just a little breeze. Lots of birds on shore and sitting on the lake. Got some work to do and then dinner tonight with high school friends. Got a faculty training session on Tuesday, so I need to buy myself some new pants that are not shorts or jeans!! Got an appropriate top. My wardrobe is certainly simple these days. :D I have a rental car so driving around is easy. Got a super deal of $88 for five days since it is a slow rental season.

Hope everyone is safe and healthy.

That farmer you mentioned who has terminal cancer- by chance was it 450 acres of corn harvested in a day by friends??? That story was on national news here last night. Heartwarming yet sad story. Praying for a miracle for him. It's always great to have friends but ESP so in times like that.

Pat, it is good to know that there are places where everybody pulls together to help out a person. Too many people are fighting this dreadful illness. On a happier note, I loved the photos of Bronc and his pony. Enjoy your three-day weekend. Peggy

Velda, The community harvest that you are referring to took place in Illinois. We're in South Dakota. This is the segment that was on the news about the farmers who harvested Doug's crops.
http://www.keloland.com/newsdetail.cfm/ ... ?id=185851

Last night’s benefit was an overwhelming success. Except for all-school reunions and the centennial I have never seen so many people in that little town of 325. My sister was helping at the registration table from 4-7:00. When you came in you signed in and were given a number for the auction. Couples usually only took one number between them. When her shift was over they were on 943! People attended from a 100 mile radius. This morning a friend told us that the total amount raised throughout the night was $135,000 and that didn’t include the bar sales. The local tavern had closed for the evening so all liquor sales would be at the Legion Hall. It makes me feel very fortunate that my roots are from this community where people will rally to help someone in need. My sister was one of the organizers and they had hoped to at least match the $70,000 made several years ago when the old Legion Hall burned down.

On a sadder note Doug passed away this afternoon. My heart is heavy but I am so glad that he doesn’t have to suffer anymore.
