It has been a week for trailers! When I met Sue (Colliemom) for lunch last week, the RV dealer down the block had these beauties parked by the road:
Image

The blue-and-white one looks a lot like the trailer my uncle kept at the lake every summer when I was a kid. Just driving by made me hear kids and splashing water! :D

Then on the weekend, a small town about 20 miles away had an Airstream gathering on Main Street:

Alas that it was raining; can you imagine that many Airstreams glittering in the sun? They lined both sides of Main St and several side streets as well as filling the small city park on the river. I saw my first Bambi! . . . and my second . . . and my third . . .

Louise, I love those replica camper, so very spiffy!

I imagine that would have been a blinding Airstream display if the sun had been out.

I'm in Grand Lake, CO - a small town that I love. I last (and only time) visited here in the early 80's and always wanted to come back. It became a reality finally and even better because my cousin and his wife now live here. It's a whirlwind trip (arriving yesterday and leaving tomorrow) but oh, what a grand one. Between talking (I don't think the 3 of us ever shut up) to sightseeing - it's been terrific. They rarely see moose in the fall, but we saw one today! And it snowed in the Rocky Mountains overnight last night and the road in from Grand Lake was closed this morning, but it opened later in the morning and we got to do a whirlwind tour there, too. I will come back, and hopefully for much longer next time, and I don't dare wait as many years - I doubt I'll still be alive if I try to do that. :o

Enjoy Beth, that part of the world tells us when to get ready for another season!

I am playing in southwest LA with some friends. Weather is beautiful, campground really nice, area fun, fellow campers the best. Going to the coast today. Will be interesting to see it after 3 hurricanes since my last visit.

Ha Ha, Birdie, I read you are in southwest LA and my lifelong California brain automatically put you in LA as in Los Angeles. Then I read hurricanes and brain said reset, read again and realized you meant Louisiana ! Have fun!

Nan and I made it to the Florida panhandle today. We sort of rushed the last 2 days because Nan was having issues with her RV electric and her car-RV connection. Needs to get those looked at asap.

So tonight we are camped in a State Forest cg on a small lake. We were lucky to get the last two spots. The campsites have elec. and water which is nice since it's still hot in Florida. We'll collect our mail in Crestview tomorrow. Nan will move on to get her things repaired. I may stay here a few days and get the boat wet. I have good phone and Internet service here, so should be able to take care of my business from here until time to head to Ocala area for doctor appointments.

Liz, you and Nan did really hustle those last two days. Last I remember you were near OH River KY side.
Nicky has been having some intestinal issues this week. Vet has ruled out several potential problems but seems confident it is a bacterial infection - suspects E. Coli. Started meds and special food tonight hoping for the best - mostly wait and see at this point.

JudyJB, I found your Kumatoes and at Aldi's of all places! I've never seen them there before and if it weren't for your recommendation, I probably wouldn't have tried them.

Washing dishing earlier this week I dropped a soup bowl on the tile floor and it shattered. It was one of my moms bowls, nothing fancy just an everyday soup and chili bowl, I stood at the sink and bawled like a baby. Mary cleaned up the mess and said "you're good at finding things on the Internet, see if you can find one"; well they haven't been made in many years and they are from Portugal, with that bit of info I searched. Even doing an international search I only found one set of four for sale anywhere, on eBay of course. I don't know how to eBay so I called a friend and she got them for me! They arrived late yesterday and they are just perfect!

Seems silly how things will strike us at times, doesn't it? For some reason the memories of eating her homemade chili out of those bowls trumped all the jewelry and other things she left, I only took the bowls and her and dads key chains.

I've actually found them here in Driggs Idaho at a local small set of stores (thinking 4-5) in this part of the state...but at 7.00 a tube and at a time when I'm broke didn't get them but the one time I did they were really good

Yes, Judy, they were tasty but without you talking about them I would have looked at them and passed. They aren't very appetizing looking!
Sheila, wow! I don't think I paid $7.00, more like $2.99.

Mickie, I'm so sorry you broke your Mom's bowl; to have those little things to remind us of good memories is so important somehow. I have some green Melmac bowls from my Grandmother that I remember her using and a rabbit grooming table that my Dad built for me one Christmas, but due to that person I have nothing from my Mother. What really hit home was when a group I was going camping with wanted to play a game where you match the baby picture with the person; thanks to that blankety-blank I don't even have any baby pictures of me. Sad.

I also had an experience with a broken chili bowl. It was a very old thick ironstone and I had used it for years. When I moved back to IL from San Diego I was in my brothers garage unpacking a couple of my boxes and I dropped my bowl on the concrete floor and it broke into several pieces. I, who seldom ever cry immediately burst into tears and my brother who hadn't seen me cry since we were kids said, "don't cry, Dad can fix it for you" We were in our forties at at the time and I don't know which of us was more surprised at his reaction! I'm sorry that I didn't tell Daddy what he said as I think it would have made him happy. When Daddy died the only two things I asked for, and received, were his bible and his hammer that he let me use to build all my projects when I was little.

That is so hard, not having anything tangible. I'm not a "stuff" person at all and am constantly trying to downsize, but having a couple of things I can touch and hold makes me happy.

So glad you got his hammer! My dad was a carpenter so having the tools he taught me with is really important.

I guess I'm still adjusting to being an orphan, it still seems surreal at times, how can a person not have a mom and a dad; someone there to be the grown up when you need it. As I understand it, this will pass and I'll adjust to it, but in the meantime I can truthfully say it's hard some days.
