Mel had a really good first day post op. he is eating, drinking lots of water, walking around. His pain level has decreased from 8 to 5. He moved to the same ENT ward he was on in 2013 and many of the nurses we knew then welcomed us back with hugs. That was nice. His blood sugar is back under control, very happy with that and the nurses are all happy working with his insulin pump regime , big difference from 2013. It will be a waiting and healing game for the next few days until the drainage from his two tubes gradually decreases. It has to stop draining before tubes can come out. Can't go home with tubes. Overall a very good day compared to yesterday. It will, however be two weeks until pathology is back and we have radiation ahead but this big hurdle is one we are glad to have behind us for sure. Other than his neck looking like someone tried to cut his head off, he looks remarkably good, little bruising and the long line of stitches almost ear to ear. Very little swelling.
Thanks for all your caring and support.
