On the road Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

On the road Sunday

Postby PeggyinCT » Sun Sep 13, 2015 6:26 am

Good morning Everybody, I read where there are many sisters on the road to somewhere today, including me. I've started my westward migration and spent the night at a Pilot truck stop in Carlisle, PA. I am caravanning with another Trekker from CT. We Will be in Knoxville, TN tonight for two nights, visiting with Nancy's sister. Our first destination is Hot Springs, AR where will meet in the middle with 35 other Trekkers. Then on to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta and finally on to Quartzsite where I'll up with some of you. Sheila, I packed some old golf clubs and some balls for desert golf.
Enjoy today. Peggy no longer in CT.

Good Morning Everyone !!, wishing you safe travels, Peggy. Sounds like a great trip you have planned, one day I hope to be at a Balloon Fest.

Kind of coolish in northern part of Tn this morning. Feels good, but happened so fast wondering about the winter coming. Sure won't worry about it yet. It's fun time !! Met up with Sarah and Nicky yesterday. She's looking good in spite of all her happenings, wee tired but hopefully this trip will fix that. We have plenty of time to get to the first of our GTG's. We're in a small but nice PA cg , may lay over today here. We have we figure 2 short days of travel , so it's either stay here or get to Rockville a day early. We'll decide this morning.

Need to get dressed, Maggie is about finished with her breakfast and will need to go out and do her serious business soon.
Hope you all have a nice Sunday, enjoy your day !!
Stay safe,
CArol :)

Morning all!

Feeling a bit jealous of you gals on the road, getting antsy to be out there my-own-self! Not too much longer now though, we fly out to meet Karen on the 23rd. She is being completely wonderful about this whole sale, she's even making us dinner the first night!! We don't really cook so a homemade meal sounds simply delightful.

Everyone be safe and have wonderful trips!!

I'm in Peggy' Cove, Nova scotia, which would be wonderfully beautiful if it weren't for the rain, fog, clouds, and just generally dismal weather. Not raining right now, and I have an ocean view, at least. Saw an eagle out in front of my last night with my binoculars! He was sitting on the largest rock in a pile.

I WAS going to ride my bike the mile into the little town Peggy's Cover itself this morning, but it is supposed to rain again in a couple of hours. It is not worth getting it uncovered and then getting rained on and having to cover it up again on my bike rack, so I am just going to unhook and drive there. If the weather stays OK, I will go to Lunenburg, which is about 60 miles away. It is supposed to be a very pretty town--just wish we had sun.

Actually it is going to be sunnier in a couple of days, but I am saving that time to drive the Cabot Trail and spending the drearier days doing more mundane things, assuming of course that this whole thing is mundane. I'll be here in NS until next Monday, so I still have 7-8 days. I still really, really need a haircut, so am going to try again tomorrow to find some place that I can park at and has time to do it. A lot of these salons are one-person places and booked ahead.

Judy - my moms dream trip was to Peggy's Cove, she traveled the world but that was one place they just never got to, I intend to make the trek in her memory at some point.

Judy, enjoy Peggy's Cove!
I could just sit on the rocks for hours watching the water and listening to the Bag Piper!
I'm not lost, I'm on an adventure!

good morning ladies
getting some routine stuff done while I wait and see if my adventure to the lake is going to pan out, waiting for a friend to make a definite "go or no go". Tomorrow would be better because it will be cooler and less people.
My friends in California in the Butte fire area, sadly we think they lost everything but it hasn't been confirmed yet. Morning report says Mountain Ranch lost 89 homes and 51 outbuildings. We did come across a picture on the internet that looks like their fence with special little things hanging on it, but of course won't know for sure until they actually get up there to see.
In the meantime, Big Trees is in danger and on the evacuation list. Diana, you getting any of that smoke?
Its time for more coffee, a little breakfast and think I'll get the vacuum cleaner out just to kill time. Ya'll have a great day,
be safe and enjoy life.

Good morning all! Looks like fall is arriving in my neck of the woods! Coolish and rainy and the trees are starting to turn. Donna, Shenango is closing already? I figured they'd be open another few weeks, at least. Sounds like you have some good leads on the puppy front. CArol, where in PA are you? And did you decide to stay over another day? I'm off 80 in the State College-Clearfield area. Any chance to get together, PM me if you want. I'm always up for a day trip! Mickie, you sound like you're counting down the days! Exciting! You'll have so much fun. Judy, the area you're in sounds so beautiful! Just hearing the ocean sounds like a win to me!

DS and 2 GS came yesterday with his truck and trailer and helped me clean out the garage. With a bit more organizing I may actually be able to park my car in it this winter! I've decided to get a hitch on the car and get a small utility trailer so I can haul leaves and stuff at the the dump on my schedule (such as it is!) so it's going to be interesting seeing how I handle backing up a small trailer! Hope no one's watching! Next project is tearing down the carport DH put up so I can park Lola away from the trees that tend to weigh down with snow and sometimes break. Better she's covered and in a clear area. Plus I hope I don't have the problem of ice around her to flood the garage like I did last winter. But then not everyone can say they can ice skate in their garage!

Well, it's getting late and I need to get moving. Kinda feel like a slug this morning! Hope the sun comes out sometime today. I have lots to do outside! Have a good day and travel safe. Ava, just saw your post. So sad about you friends being in the way of the fire. But hope everyone is safe.

UPDATE: Just got back from two hours at Peggy's Cove. Lesson Learned: Try not to go on a weekend and NOT when they have three cruise ships in Halifax! The place was extremely packed with people. Hard to even get a good photo. Apparently, this is "Fall New England" cruise season, plus a lot of couples just traveling on the weekend. Campgrounds have been empty, so these are cruise ship people or people driving.

Lady in the visitor center says it is really busy this time of year and sometimes there is just no place to park, especially a motorhome. She said there were 23 buses that came in on Friday, she is not sure how many cruise ships in Halifax that day.

I am leaving tomorrow for Lunenburg, which is another scenic town. I would have gone this afternoon but I figured it also would be packed, AND my jacket and two pairs of shoes are wet from the rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be better with a little sun.

Mitch, I too am sorry we couldn't meet up, but there will be another time.
Linda, I will be meeting up with 80 Roadtrekers at the Balloon Fiesta. It is magical happening and watching all the balloons makes you feel like a kid again . This will be my second time. I have photos and videos, but I don't know how to post them from my phone.
