Be sure to stop & take breaks on long hauls - lesson learned

Talk about anything under the sun! Just remember to be respectful of others.

Thanks for the reminder. I too take long drives and need to stop more often and take longer walks. Another trick is to put the vehicle on cruise, stretch leg out and flex ankle for a couple of minutes to keep good circulation.

So glad it was caught, now to take care of yourself so you can spend more time with little Olivia.

Glad you are recovering Catherine.

Many truck drivers, myself included suffer from blood clots. The doctors want us to keep stopping and walk around but you can't make a paycheck if you're not rolling. Catch 22. They even have classes on how to adjust our seats to help prevent clots.

Sorry you had to end up with this health problem... I ran across this a couple of years ago when I started having trouble with my legs I was having pain and I thought I was having a blood clot in my leg and I stopped overnight for 24 hours at Walmart but it wasn't thank goodness it ended up being this problem with my spine and my legs but I am ever mindful of blood clots... what's my problem now I have to stop anyway so hopefully I got it covered get well soon

Thanks for sharing this information, Catherine. Sorry it was a painful lesson for you, but maybe it will help the rest of us. I'm very aware of it during long haul flights, but I never considered it while driving . I thought the stops for gas and bathrooms were enough. I guess I will start bending and stretching when I stop. Now, how to do that without drawing attention to myself! Enjoy your time with sweet Olivia, but take care of yourself as well. Peggy

so glad you'll be ok, it certainly could have been worse. Thank you for reminding us, I tend to forget too even though a
similiar thing happened to me some years ago when I drove non stop from Flagstaff AZ to Telluride CO. Not even a potty break, needless to say my knee swelled up so bad I was laid up for two weeks in crutches. Now I do stop every two hours and walk around even if I don't have to go potty.
