Where's Liz? Dublin, Ireland before the tour

Postby Liz » Mon Sep 07, 2015 12:02 pm

Ist blog post about our 12-day Giant Irish Adventure. This one covers the two days we spent in Dublin before the tour began. There will be at least 12 more posts to cover the entire tour.

What a beautiful fascinating city. I am always amazed at the age of cities in Europe and the British Isles. We tear things down so often here that we are lucky to have any historical buildings while often there they live in buildings hundreds of years old.

I have been patiently  been waiting for you to post your pictures from Ireland, and boy are they great! Thanks so much for the information and the wonderful photos for those of us who have not yet had the pleasure. Being a Higgins -- I hope to get over there some day. Can't wait for the next batch -

There are several canals in Dublin with locks that lead to the larger River Liffey. The canal boats are narrow and are used to transport people and goods. The locks allow the boats to go from higher to lower (and vice versa) levels to get to the Liffey. Some are also Sea Locks and are also used for flood control. (I looked this up because I did not know that either.)

Thanks for checking out the Hugenot location. Glad you had such a great tour of Ireland, it is such a wonderful place to visit. When you look at items that are 650 AD you know we are in a very young country here. Looking at your next blog for more adventures.
