It was explained to us, thr Ronald McDonald house is where families of sick children stay and the Kiwanis House is where family of adults sta. it's a good sized building with nice rooms off two long halls with a kitchen stocked with staples and what you need for a snack or simple meal. Out back is a row of 7 full hookups. Pretty nice. They ask $50 a night if you can pay but told me $20 for Rv. It's on UCD property and about 1/2 mi from hospital.

Velda, sorry that your family has to go thru this again but know that having a physician you have confidence in makes such a difference. Hoping this is the last time! Glad you are able to have a place to "plug in" right there. (((Hugs))) carold

I will be praying for you both. What a blessing that there is an economical place you can stay in your RV during that time.

I am so grateful for the support I get from this group. We met with the doctor today and all pre-op stuff is done. Stopped at the Kiwanis Family Hoise and made sure that is set up. They had two TT's and a big Class A plus 4 empty spots. They reserved my spot for as long as I need it. Also noted how they now have security cameras in over a dozen places so even if no one else happens to be there when I am, someone will be watching up front at the desk to be sure I'm safe. I like that because it's on a back corner of the property with close access to city streets. I never felt unsafe there, but now feel a higher level of security.
We spent time in the van today checking things out. A funny thing happened today. We were doing some measuring because Mel decided to see about replacing the non digital tv which requires the conversion box. I was moving pillows and stuff around and kept seeing these light fluffy pieces of stuff floating to the floor. Finally realized, they were disintegrating pieces of the hypo-allergenic non woven fabric covers I had put on the pillows under their cotton pillow cases. They had just gone to bits and pieces from 10 years of exposure to summer heat I guess. I bought the pillows when we bought the van. I keep cases on them and they just stay in the van. Ended up shaking them off over trash can and put pillows and cases in washer. Wil see how well they tolerate dryer and if ok guess I'll skip the zipper hypo allergy cases! Boy do I have a mess to vacuum tomorrow! But even though van has mostly sat for two years, everything else seems fine.

That extra security is wonderful, sounds like they're doing a great job for you, one less worry.
