I just got back from my cattle women meeting. We had pizza at the Farm Bureau Ins office. I would rather do that than go to a restaurant some times because it's a lot cheaper to split the cost of the pizza. The troops are starting to get rowdy. It might have something to do with the wine some bring. I usually stop and pick up a margarita at one of the drive through places. The county agent office wants us to vote for a rededication of $1,500,000 tax money so they can build a meeting building. A couple of us had to bite our tongues on that. Years ago they built a barn like they wanted with taxpayer money and they run it as their own personal building. It's an act of congress if anyone wants to get permission to use it. When we were showing horses many cities have multipurpose buildings and arenas. The people coming into a city for shows and festivals at these buildings bring a lot of money into a town. The butt heads in Abbeville couldn't see that. I would like to see the plans for the building that they want to spend that much money for. This would use tax money that can only be used for the health unit and animal control. I would rather see the parish build a million dollar animal shelter.

That brought me a chuckle. Reminded me of a friend who lived downstate. I couldn't figure out why there were so many tractors on the road at nighttime and she said because the farmers had all been caught driving drunk and were on suspended licenses, but they could still drive the tractors...to get to the bar! :D

Not a good week here so far, DH had a cancerous spot removed from his forehead on Monday and it was a 6 hour procedure. They had to try three times before the lab report showed the edges were clear. I had been trying to get him to go see about it but he kept saying he had a doctors appt coming up in 3 weeks. Well it had already been there that long. I told him she would just refer him to a dermatologist which she did, saying they would make him an appt. right... after three days I called and made an appt for him and it was a good thing. It wasn't melanoma but it was the one that grows really fast. The doctor told him the amount of scalp he took off was the size the Indians too when they scalped people! I don't know why I didn't just go ahead and make an appointment for him when I first saw it, I know how stubborn men are.

Wow, glad they got it all! Maybe having a big old scabby painful scalp will get him on board with making appointments more quickly in the future?

Martha I have never heard of drive thru margaritas--I must look into this!

BJ so glad they got it all removed. That's about how long I was at my dermatologist's office getting my last skin cancer removed too. They had to go back and keep redoing it til they got clean margins and it was just a little bitty thing. Then I had to wait for the surgeon to stitch me up. I have to say that he did a very nice job of stitching. You can't even see a scar.

The drive thru drink places must be a Louisiana thing. Everyone laughs when I tell them about it. The best part is that we have an open container law. I have never ask but I guess if you don't put the straw in it's not open. lol They use to put freezer tape across the top but they don't even do that anymore. I only get one if I'm going somewhere for a few hours and I put it in the ice chest in the back of my car. These places have a sign the size of a sheet of plywood with all the drinks they make. Come to Louisiana and we'll eat crawfish and get margaritas to go.

I took Harold to the doctor Monday to get a spot on his nose checked and it's cancer. I forgot what kind but the doctor said that if you were going to have cancer this is the kind to have. He will remover it on the 15th.

Bj, a lot of time, but I'm glad they got it all. Skin cancers are all on the rise, so we all have to watch so carefully. Martha, I hope Harold's appt goes faster and is as successful.

Made it to Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, but feeling really lousy. It was a painful drive today as I am pretty sure I am passing a kidney stone or have one stuck. I know I still have several chunks in my left kidney after I had then zapped almost two years ago, and I have left flank pain, which is symptom of kidney stone. Been dousing myself with Vicodin halves and drinking a lot of water, which is all they would do if I went to the emergency room. No blood in urine.

Am taking it easy and having some homemade soup that I had in my freezer for dinner. Not really hungry, but have to eat something. At least I am settled in campground for four days. No sightseeing tomorrow anyway with all the crowds anyway, so will rest and take it easy.

FYI - My kids always joked about my carrying a medicine cabinet around with me because I always have a supply of pain meds for just this purpose. Few years ago, I was glad when my younger son had a kidney stone and started complaining about how much it hurt!! Duh! Have had episodes for 40 years, so nice that he finally understood I was not faking it.
