I had a sort of opposite experience a while back. We have a PPO type insurance because I like to choose our doctors . I called to get one of us an appointment only to be told, oh dr x is gone we will assign you a new one. I said NO I choose my doctors. The person tried to insist she would decide for me and I simply said NO you won't, that's why I pay for a PPO. I asked if she knew where my doctor had gone and she actually lied and said he gave up his license and left the area. I knew from past conversations with him what might have happened so I hung up and called the local medical society. The gal who answered actually laughed and said if only you knew how many of his patients are calling. Then she said, he's in a nearby town substituting for another Dr while awaiting equipment for his own office, call me back in a few weeks and I'll know where. I did and he and I had a good laugh over the other stupid place (a big conglomerate). I was with him the rest of his life and now see his hand chosen partner and successor. You don't know the other side of the story and might not ever. Go with which ever person makes you most comfortable because your former agent may be a good guy who did not want to do what a bad manager said, or he could have done something bad and was fired with good reason.
