Relaxing Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Relaxing Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Aug 29, 2015 8:07 am

Morning everybody,

Guess you are all sleeping in or have already gotten up and are into your day. It's a rainy Saturday, here in northern Michigan. So will be a nice relaxing day after three days of heavy physical work around here. I'm sure my muscles will appreciate it. I finished up some projects that I have been wanting to get done, now that fall is staring down at us. Finished staining the sides of my deck, took out a big pyramidal shrub next to my garage, replaced three split rail line posts in my fence, trimmed my neighbor's Lombardi poplars and also a couple of oak and pine trees, cut rest of grass that I got rained out on the other day, threw out a rotting whiskey barrel that I had flowers planted in, plus a few other odds and ends. You tired yet  So am done with those chores anyway. Not much else to do except wait for leaves to fall and clean out gutters. But it's good exercise, makes me feel good and probably helps to keep my muscles in shape. Between that and walking about 12-15 miles a week with Molly, I am, like Mickie, losing weight slow but sure. She has lost more than I have though.

Been thinking about hitching up the tin box and heading out for a couple of days. Friend is camping over south of Traverse City this week. But not decided on that yet. Will look over campground reservation system today and see what's going on.

Sounds like you all are keeping busy. Some are still on the road exploring. Nan, glad you got your car back. Liz and Tina still exploring Ireland. Anita still in WI, lost track of where others are. See storm heading towards FL. Hope it just stays a tropical one. Two more weeks and the IN GTG will be coming up, etc. etc. Busy bunch we are.

So, with that, I am going to sign off. Hope you all have a nice weekend. And also hope rains hit some of the aeras where fires are burning and give those of you in the smoke, some relief.

Last Saturday of August!

Postby Othersharon » Sat Aug 29, 2015 8:21 am

Good morning all! Hard to believe The month is almost over! Where did it go? I've tried posting a couple of times this week but each time it went poof! So will try again! Today is the last day of the Grange Fair. Usually we would have been moving out yesterday but they added 2 extra days this year so move out will be tomorrow. My friends have a tent right on the main walking area so we get to sit and watch people and visit with people that stop by. This spot has been in their family for many, many years. Last night we had a couple from MD asking about the fair and the tents! They apparently like fairs and said they've never seen anything like this one! Turned out they were camping in a nearby state park and came for the evening! At the time there were 3 generations sitting there! My son has been coming since we moved to the area in 79 and my grandson since he was a baby! It's a fun time but I have to say that I'm ready for it to be over! Normal reaction! My pups will be glad when I stay home and we get back on a normal schedule again!

Saw Donna's post yesterday saying that Nan finally got her car back and heading out! Finally! That 3 weeks turned into a bit more! Donna, have you decided on your route back to FL? Beth, sounds like an interesting winter for you. Will be interesting to hear about your adventure in CA! Judi, hope the shots help your pain until you can get to the surgeon. My friend sews for a living and she has been dealing with a trigger finger and will finally have surgery in Sept. She was trying to wait until Dec but decided to move it up after having problems with it this week. She's been dealing with it for a long time!

Okay, time to get a few things done before I leave for the day! Have a great week end and travel safe.

Mornin' ladies!

Yup, Sue you wore me out just reading that! Come to my house. I've got about 4 bushes to pull that died since the polar vortex winter. Yes, it's was 2 winters ago, but was hoping they would come back. The 1/2 did (i.e. part of the bush dead, the other part alive). May just wait until next spring and get a real landscaper out here to freshen up the front of the house.

Cloudy today. Some talk of rain today and tomorrow. Not much on the agenda. Plan on taking a quick ride thru the casino campground to check it out for a one night stay before IN gtg, then off to hunt for a baby present. My friend from grade school became a grandma for the first time and he's coming in from Ann Arbor for a visit for the weekend.

Not much else {{{shaking}}} around here. Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Not much relaxing today for me! I have no underwear left, which means I have 14 days of laundry to do. Just finished changing my bed and replacing towels in the bathroom. Will end up with four loads, and maybe five, if I throw in one rug. Luckily this campground has several washers and dryers and the laundry is fairly close to me. Got lots of soap and a new package of dryer sheets, so I am in good shape.

My thumb is still somewhat sore, but slowly getting better. Tomorrow I drive to New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy, so am looking forward to that. It has been SO nice not to have to move my motorhome for this entire past week. I did have to drive 100 feet to dump my tanks yesterday, but for the rest of the time, it has sat in one place. I just walk to the entrance where the free shuttles pick me up. They go to town and lots of places, as well as through around Acadia National Park. I even used it to pick up and drop off my rental car because they go to the airport!

So, got to grab a very late breakfast before starting my laundry. Been busy this morning sorting, cleaning, and getting stuff put away for travel tomorrow. Even went through and counted out my medications this morning, so I got a lot accomplished.

CArol, you were probably posting just as I was merging the two morning threads. Sorry.

I've opened the store the last couple days. I close it today and tomorrow so tried to sleep in. All it means is I didn't get enough sleep, no matter what time it is lol. Peaches thought we were up too early before, but today she knows I've been awake and can't understand my dilly dallying.

Hope everyone has a great day. And hugs to you Alice.

Yes Sue, you make me tired. My flower bed needs to be weeded but I can't even get that done. I am afraid to stick my hand in there where I can't see. I had a friend get bit by a Copperhead snake in her flower bed. She lives in Texas but we have Copperheads too. Thanks to all the outside cats we seldom see a snake. They will kill a small one and I guess they keep the larger ones moving.

The only way I would go to a Mardi Gras parade would be to have a spot on the parade route. There are places that rent spots in Lafayette but I think they are about $500 for a couple of weeks. What ever it was it was more than I wanted to spend. Every year I think about going to the Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge. They will let you dry camp at one of the parking lots. That's the only way I would go again. I went when my youngest was in a stroller and he's 35. It was so crowded that I was afraid someone was going to fall on the stroller. It causes a traffic jam on I-10 and there is no way I would get caught up in that mess.

I took Frosty's cone of shame off. I cut his back claws so hopefully he won't scratch his ear until it bleeds again. We won't let him go outside since his last vet bill. He thinks he's bad but the outside cats put him in his place but he usually ends up with a bite. I wasn't watching and he got out the other day. I wouldn't have been able to catch him if he hadn't been wearing a cone and he couldn't see me.

Erika is no longer a tropical storm. I sure hope it doesn't reform. Yesterday the cone of uncertainty was in the Gulf. Hopefully Florida will get some much needed rain and not flooding.

I want to go to Sam's so guess I better get moving.

Glad to hear there was a reason that I lost my long post this morning, when it comes to use on pc, always thinking its operator error, which it usually is :D So thanks, Beth, for letting us know, checked to see how I had missed the fact of two post, so I feel better. :D

Ava, so sorry to hear you are so irritable, I'm thinking its the job, hopefully it will wear off and you can get through this year with not too much trouble. I can just imagine how you are feeling, kind of been there and its an awful situation. Sorry !!!

Sun is out pretty today, but they say we have a lot of rain coming. I have afternoon visitors coming Sunday afternoon and then a guest coming Monday to spend through the holiday with me. She is on her way home, Benson, AZ after spending summer with grandson in Virginia. We met in Alaska, and have become good friends, This forum has done wonders for many of us, in the friends area and travels, and I could go on and on. For me , the forum itself has been a friend.

Breaks over, still have several things I would like done before company and with GTG coming up, more then just preparing for company to do and here I set.

Martha, you sound like me, there are times, I might like to join in on some of the holiday things going on, but to fight the crowd to get there and do it, most of the time I write off as not worth the effort  :D then I think, I must not have really wanted to go in the first place :o  Sue, you just plum wear me out, come visit me, and bring your energy with you   Oh in post I lost, I had written of the surprise this past week when I saw neighbor boy over here on bushhog, clearing a lot of my jungle out, not the portion up by house here that I had posted picture of on FB though. Have no idea why he didn't do that, but I am kind of glad, because that hides me from vehicles going by up on 4 lane hwy and shocking some on their way to work early morning hours when I am just in my nightgown when I take Maggie out.

Getting out of here,
CArol :)

Holy cow, Sue, you are one busy lady!! No wonder you're dropping weight. ;)

Had to brave WalMart today, as much as I dislike that store and the awful crowds, I sure save a lot of money there. Heading to the pool in a bit if the rain holds off as my reward for going to wally world.

Martha, I'm sure glad Erika blew out a bit, wasn't looking forward to the damage and mess from the storm surge.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Ava, hope you perk up and start feeling better soon.

Good Morning. Feeling pretty good this morning since my hospital stint. I have an urge to do some cleaning but not over do it. I have to pace myself as I get pretty tired. Haven't had much incentive but we got rain last night so the smoke is gone and the sun is shining....inspires me.

Haven't cleaned my house for several weeks as I was too dang sick but am on the mend now so there is hope. I need to go over and start my Motorhome and run my genny so maybe later today. That shouldn't take too much energy.

I did have to rest after just reading Sue's post LOL And Judy out of undies going Commando ha ha

Love where Beth is going next. Just hope it wont get too cold...oh I am such a wuss.

Karen - Have you seen the advertisement with the parents in the car front seat talking about going commando and the little kid in the back seat asks "What's commando?" laugh every time I see it. LOL

The clouds have cleared but no rain so far here in CA.

Got four loads of laundry done, so no need to go commando!

Now everything needs to be folded and put away, plus I have some cleaning to do so everything is neat and clean when I pull out tomorrow for New Brunswick, Canada!
