looking for input

Last fall on the way to Q I had to replace the transmission in the truck in Bullhead City AZ
this spring after I got here I realized that in order for me to move (the truck) I had to let it run for
a long period of time..yes it's diesel and should warm up some but not the amount that it has been
taking...so on my recent trip to Utah stopped at my favorite mechanic (I keep telling the truck if it MUST
break down please do it where Sean can fix it!!! it rarely listens...right now it's sitting in Ririe Id about 50 miles
from here (about 150 from Sean) waiting for a part... :(
anyway he took it for a test drive..and told me that the tranny was of a concern not the word he used but can't spell
the right word well enough to find it on spell check  because it's under a warranty he advised me to take it to them
and have it checked...well Bullhead it close to 750 miles from here...so the options I can see are these
1. make a trip to Bullhead city see if they will fix it if they do what to do while waiting my sister lives in Vegas but
because of just having a knee replaced last year then a few weeks ago a hip replaced..can't ask her to follow me
her husband is in they think early stages of something he doesn't do well out of familiar places.
2 try and tow the 5th wheel down and then have the truck looked at
3 find some one who is willing to tow the 5th wheel down and follow in the truck plant the 5th wheel in Q and get the
truck up to Bullhead (about 125 miles north of Q) I like this one best but it's not easy to find someone that I can ask to make a
2000 mile trip (close to it from here to Q it's 900 miles and this would be a round trip) hiring a transport company I'm thinking would
be out of my budget...
my mind just won't figure out what is best to do it changes it's mind all the time...
why the tranny is going out so soon I don't know probably driver error
so tired of the problems with this truck I tell people if I could afford to replace it would take it out and shoot and get it out of my misery
thanks for any advice you may choose to give

Sheila, I'd contact the place in Bullhead and talk to them. Tell them you need to have them honor their warranty, but you have no clue how to SAFELY get the truck to them. Will they work with someplace near you or what do they suggest? Stay with the safety concern... how could they expect you drive so far with the dangers involved?

It's worth a shot to see they say.

Sheila I have no answers for you so I guess I'm not much help. If it were me, I'd just try to find another truck. That one seems to be a real lemon for you.

Sheila, I think I'd go with Beth's suggestion first. You really are between a rock and a hard place.

Just to be on the side of caution, I think you might be wise to weigh your 5th wheel to make sure you aren't overworking the truck. Also, do you drive with the overdrive off when towing?

I agree. You should not be going through transmissions.

If you want, I can run some numbers for you.
What kind of truck is it? What year etc... Does it have a tow package? Does it have the larger transmission cooler for towing? Actually if you run the VIN# you can find all this in a on-line search.
What kind of 5er are you pulling? Year and model number if you know it.

thank you for your input I've thought that I should call and talk with them but haven't wanted to..the guy that I've talked with
just doesn't seem to want to listen...as an example when I had to have it towed back up because of an issue that the shop
in Q was afraid was tranny related...I told him the guy from the tranny place that it took a long time for it to switch gears
his comment was that is the way it is suppose to be it wasn't right before...well excuse me it doesn't take that long to switch gears
was my thought comment...
as to weight when Larry was alive it was over loaded...we knew it I've taken out lots but feasibly not enough
I'd have to look for that kind of information Melissa will get back with you.
and if I could get a new or different truck I would it's just that by the time the have to's are paid (we thought we had gotten a insurance which
would pay for the 5th wheel in case of his death if we did I sure don't know where the paper is but I do know that when we were filling at the papers
we were adamant about getting that type of insurance was assured that we could but when I went to the company that we bought the trailer from they told me it was never offered...so still paying on the trailer and other stuff some of it goes away next year yea!!! till then I have not that much money for stuff like
food diesel ect not enough extra for a different truck!
As to driving with the over drive off I think I misunderstood and the guy that drove me from Q to SLC didn't use it either...
as I said I have a issue!!! thanks again for you help
