Morning all,

Well it might still be Sunday in Ireland for the rest of us it's Monday. ;) I wonder if they will ever fully understand what happened to the Titanic. Watched many shows were they have tried to figure it out. I've been to the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Halifax Nova Scotia where they buried many of those lost on the Titanic.

We onto happier thoughts. Sounds like it will be a grand trip and I'm sure many of us are looking forward to the pictures when you return.

Morning all,
Just beginning to cruise through my day. Not too much going on, just same old, same old.

Hay men came on Saturday and stuffed my loft full of sweet smelling hay for the ponies. At least, that's how DH found it when he got home.

Beautiful weather here this week, I so wish I was still camping with Buddy.

That' about all from here for me, everyone take care,
Kathy

Good Morning Everyone!!!! Gloomy looking outside, they said rain which is ok, I have my foyer tore up, furniture out of it, curtains down but washed and windows are washed. Now to wash furniture I have in there and put everything back. Cobwebs were so bad, on the white ceiling and ceilings being high , did not realize cobweb heaven up there. Spiders had a blast for yr and half I was gone. Will have to pay attention to more of the rooms and the high ceilings. Its all shaping up, I still have outside back siding to wash down and clean deck, then I will feel like it might be ok. Didn't realize how nasty it had gotten in here , not used to coming back and so nasty, but never gone so long either.

Have company coming sometime next week end, so will freshen the bigger guest bedroom and make bed up. Looking forward to playing for a few days   Not that I have just wore myself plum out, don't get that idea   I do a certain amount a day and have nice breaks, and take Maggie out often, she loves it outside. She is not really seeing anything anymore and doesn't hear either, but she seems to sense where I am at. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, so we're just enjoying each day and I spend quite a bit of time with her. I do have to be careful as she likes to hug up next to my leg when we're walking outside, and I don' t need a fall. And she sure doesn't need me on top of her

I'm sure everyone is enjoying the bits of news we get from those two Ireland travelers. So far they have already seen so much and my goodness, just got there. And both are good about keeping us in the loop and also we have their blogs to look forward too, we'll feel like we've been there after their trip. I'm looking forward to the Titanic info they find, so far, and I'm sure there will be sooooo much in this trip. So nice for all of us, when our Sistahs make a trip, and we can enjoy too.

Need to get moving, break time over here, putting the foyer back in order. Not sure when I have cleaned it so thorough, and I'm ashamed to admit, IT REALLY NEEDED IT !! and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got into the cleaning of it. I won't think about some other rooms I haven't gotten too yet  Will do one of the guest rooms for company, make sure its freshened up for her.

Have a nice day, stay safe and do something fun somewhere in this day, for yourself,
CArol :)

Happy day today! I am in Bar Harbor Campground, which does not take reservations, so you go pick out a site and put something on it and then check in and pay by check or cash. Sounds weird, but it is a lot less expensive than most places around here and not quite so cramped as the KOA I was at. Anyway, because my satellite is in the "western arc" (whatever that means) I have trouble getting satellite unless it is really, really open. So this morning I scouting new spots out, found a guy all hooked up ready to leave, so I plunked my occupied sign Sue made me and changed sites.

Best part is that this one has a terrific ocean view and is at an end! No sewer, but I can go 4-5 days without dumping, even taking a shower and doing dishes once a day. So I am going to be here for 6 more days with a great view and TV. They have shuttles going all over this island so I am going to take those. Also, I rented a car for Tuesday-Thursday so I can drive 140 miles to get my thumb and middle finger fixed. Long way, but I need to see an orthopedic surgeon to get a cortisone injection and it is really hard to get someone to see me since they are specialists.

Cloudy today, so will get my work done and go off to Acadia National Park on the shuttle tomorrow morning. So nice to be able to stay parked for so long.

Tina, don't forget to add strawberry jam and double-Devon cream on those scones, if they have it. Yum! Love the Devon cream because it is so thick you don't have to whip it. I'll bet they have an equivalent in Ireland.

Happy Monday, all.

Just got done swimming and doing water aerobics, thankfully before the wrath-of-god rain and lightning arrived! The ferocity of the storms here is taking some getting used to, one minute it's a beautiful sunny day, the next it's pouring buckets of rain. But, i'm settled inside with my knee wrapped in ice and big glass of ice water at hand, life is just fine.

CArol, I lived in a place with cathedral ceilings once, holy cow they could hide a lot of dust and cobwebs up there... or maybe I just couldn't see it. ;)

Judy, question: when you rent a car how do you manage to go pick it up? Or do you use Enterprise and they pick you up? Also when you return it, how do you get back to your RV? I want to rent a car for one of my upcoming trips but I can't figure out how to return it. The last trip I rented a car, I had 2 drivers so it was pretty easy to return it and since it was Enterprise they picked us up. This trip my friend cannot drive my MH and unless I add her as a 2nd driver, I don't think she can drive the rental car either. So how do you do it?

I'm not Judy, but before I had a toad, I used Enterprise and their pick up, drop off. Love that about them and I'd plan and usually get awesome rates, also.

We used Enterprise this summer when we were up in the Carmel/Monterey area & staying at a KOA in Watsonville -- BIG tourist area in the summer. Enterprise had an office less than 10 miles from the campground, so they'd come pick us up and take us back to do the paperwork to get the car. When we were ready to return it we were able to drive the motorhome over to their office and drop the car.

From what we learned, Enterprise has contracts with some campgrounds, depending on where the both are located. You might ask the campground if they do. We'd do it again. Got a SUPER rate and a fun car (cute Mazda convertible) to boot!

A couple of years ago when we were having vehicle problems we went to the local Enterprise office to rent a car. The proof of insurance card we get to carry in our vehicles only lists the name of the person the vehicle is registered to. They wouldn't put me on the contract to drive the car. Do you have to go in with your insurance policy to show you are listed on the insurance? What if you want to have more than one driver and it's not your spouse?

Yes, I usually use Enterprise and they pick me up and drop me off after I return the car. Sometimes it is as far as 12-15 miles, but I always call the specific office to verify they will do this. If they pick you up, they should also drop you off. One thing to ask is what time you have to return it so they can take you back home. They might not want to do it if it means staying late, so I try to be accommodating.

I have rarely also had Hertz and Avis pick me up and drop me off when they had offices near my campground. I usually look on Google maps and type in "Car rental near Bar Harbor Campground" or whatever. Then I pick one or two nearby. Campgrounds also are good sources of information on which local car rental places will provide this service as well.

I have a 280 mile round trip on Wednesday to see an orthopedic surgeon about my two trigger fingers. I did not want to drive that distance in one day in my motorhome, for obvious reasons. It will be a long day, but my thumb and finger are really painful and stiff and I want to get some cortisone shots before I go into Canada next week.

And yes, I take along my RV proof of insurance. Also I make sure I use a Visa card that also provides some coverage. Check with your vehicle insurance and your Visa card people to see what coverage you have so you don't get talked into the expensive and unnecessary extra insurance!!

I don't know what you do if you have more than one driver. Call and ask ahead of time what documents you need.

Thanks all! I knew Enterprise picked up but didn't know if they would also drop you off after you returned the car. I used them in Branson last year, they picked us up along with picking up a bunch of other people but when we returned the car I drove Pony and my friend drove the car back. I had no problem with adding her to the rental contract as a second driver and I don't remember having to show any insurance cards from Pony either. But even if I did, she wouldn't have been listed on Pony's insurance. A different friend is going with me this time and she's older, I don't think she would feel up to driving the rental back and I know she wouldn't like to drive Angel at all. Now that I know Enterprise will get me back to my MH, I can still think about renting a car for that weekend. We will be going off to sightsee and since her dog is coming along we would have to leave him in the MH. I'd much rather leave it in the cg with the ac on if it's warm than to try to drive the MH sightseeing.

I guess I will have to call and see what Enterprise wants if I ever think I will rent a car. What the local office wanted seemed pretty dumb to me. Someone flying in wouldn't have their proof of insurance. Our truck had broken down and we had to walk to the Enterprise office. Then I had to walk back to the shop where the truck was to get the insurance card. I was a little POed by the time we got out of there.

I don't remember ever needing my insurance card. But I never take their insurance and have to sign a waiver that I have insurance to cover everything, I would think the waiver covers their butts. I rented lots of cars back in the days I traveled on business - and you're right, never would have had my insurance card on me.

I have proof of insurance docs on my phone, so they're with me all the time. I've never had anyone turn them down. I didn't read the entire thread, so if someone has already said this, mea culpa.
