Movin' On Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Movin' On Thursday

Postby chalet05 » Thu Aug 06, 2015 8:39 am

Good Morning from Mason City, Iowa!

Cloudy and only in the 60s this morning!

Ava, I hope this will be the end of your cancerous removals, but I'm so glad you are keeping watch! Sue, I envy you your time in the UP. Not sure I'm going to get up there this trip. Martha, every time I read about some one calling so early in the morning, I think they are lucky it isn't me answering the phone! Lyn, so glad your trip is continuing! Liz, nice you were in a park where someone got that man under control! That isn't always the case. Carolb, I was hoping I could talk you into some Texas time before you headed west!

Mason City is the home of Meredith Wilson of Music Man fame. His boyhood wasn't open but was a large house that I would love to tour! I also rode over to Nashua to see the Little Brown Church in the Vale (Church in the Wildwood). Both were just related to childhood memories. I had intended to go to Clear Lake to explore, but their main street in all torn up for construction so nixed that idea. That is the last place Buddy Holly, et al played before the fatal plane crash.

Today I'll move to Winona, Minnesota to meet LeRoy. We will explore along the Mississippi tomorrow plus I discovered there is a Basilica in Winona. I'm not Catholic but they have such beautiful churches.

Have a wonderful day and safe travels to those on the road!

Good Morning !!! Anita, sounds like you are having a great trip, taking in many sights, good for you. I made note of the Grotto, in Iowa, that sounds like something I would like to see. Ava, so sorry to hear you have another spot to deal with and surgery. I agree, its time they stopped and left you alone. Sure hoping this is the end of it for you.

Compared to Tuesday, yesterday was quite a day on the morning thread, that's great. Wonder if what Sue said had anything to do with it  , I know when I finally read the forum last night, I was tempted to write something :D Everyone gets busy days, or nothing to write about, so we slack off. But I'm always disappointed when not much to read, just everyday stuff sometimes helps me to know I am not the only one wishing for more to happen in my day to day life :D Then we have some like Anita who come along and tell us of all the stuff they are seeing or want to see and hey that perks my day up ;) Then Liz lets us remember the times that living in such close quarters with others is not always ideal. That helps our stay at home, and off the road too. So we win either way, when others post.

I need to be off of here, have certain plans for today, must get going. Chatted on FB and then my Sis called and now here I am. As I said, last night I was tempted to write so thought I would this morning. Hauled a bunch of stuff off, also trash and then onto two different stores that I get certain things from and time I got home I was tired. Hauling all that stuff in and then out of RV was a job !!! Guy at place was busy and couldn't help much, glad I didn't know that before I went, you know how much floor space I have in 24 ft and it was packed, many boxes and some bags, so lots gone :D Trash is carried in another compartment outside and time I got to it, the fact, it was trash and needed to be in dumpster was the push to finish :D

Have company coming Monday, so want to get the dust and cobwebs out of my foyer, and clean it up. I had it stacked with stuff, and couldn't do it before now, but have had people coming so need to clean it up, stop some of my sneezing too, I hope.

Wishing you all a good day, hope you're doing something you enjoy, Whatever it is, Please Stay safe !!

Good morning gals! Haven't been on here for awhile so need to get caught up.

Have the day off and was just heading out the door this morning to go to the local county fair, when I decided to look at the radar, and lo and behold, there was a huge line of thunderstorms just an hour west of the fair grounds. So scrapped that idea. Went down to the beach and covered up my kayak.

My camper is back in my parking lot. Hopefully, it is finally fixed. I want to test it a couple more times to be sure. I have it posted on CL again but don't think I will get much action since it is so late in the season now. I raised the price to try and recoop my repair costs, so we'll see. May have to hang on to it until spring now. The guy who fixed it decided not to buy it from me so that is why I have it back again.

The apartment is STILL not finished yet. I am SO PO'd about that, especially since I took several days off last week to move. Those were vacation days I couldn't afford to waste. Now they are telling me 2 more weeks. I told them "don't make me any more promises. Just call me when it is completely done and then I will make plans to move". Between that and the camper, I am very frustrated!!

Luckily, things with my job, my health, and my dad are going peacefully right now.

So I guess I will stay home and clean house today and get caught up on here. Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I understand your frustration with the remodelers. We have been dealing with the things we had to do to move the trailer for 5 months. I realize they were all backed up because of all the rain in the spring but don't tell me you are coming in 2 days and never call or show up. I think they just keep doing that so you won't call someone else to do the job. Now we are waiting for Harold to come back with his truck so we can go to the Home Depot. I told my son he should make a list of everything he needs and see if they will deliver it. But you know, no one listens to mother.

CArol, sounds like you have been busy. Nothing like having company to make us clean house. I have to watch my son because he wants to throw everything away. He has already been through the pantry. He thinks everything with an expired date needs to be thrown away. I told him he was just a sissy. Yesterday there was a story on MSN that said most of the expiration dates on food are bogus. Wouldn't it be nice if we could be following Anita or Liz around instead stuck at home. One of my groups is camping next weekend but I can't go off and leave my grandson. He will only be here another 2 weeks.

I was watching a show about cats and it showed that cats that walk around with their tails up want to be friendly. I have had cats all my life and never picked up on that. Cats are more friendly toward people than other cats. Most of my cats are friendly except the 2 house cats I call Frienenemies. I never know from day to day if they are going to be friends or enemies. lol

Sheila, I worked on the LuLu Belle in Valdez and highly recommend they take that tour if they make it to Valdez.

I don't post regularly on morning coffee. Mainly reply if I see something like Sheila asking where I hosted. I'm more of an evening campfire person n

Late, late posting, but I drove to Lake Placid today and am staying at a dreaded KOA, which actually is not too bad. Very wooded so no satellite, but they have decent cable--only took me an hour to figure out how to set up my front TV. Have not had cable in over a year.

So, tomorrow I have to figure out how to drive to and park in Lake Placid. I drove through it, but all the parking lots were very small and ladies at office here knew nothing. Will call visitor center to see if they have parking for a big vehicle. OK drive here, but no where as scenic as I had expected. One problem was that trees lined the road so I could not see anything in the distance. Once in a while I caught a glimpse of a mountain, but then would lose it. Lots of lakes around here.

Best thing was a fruit stand I found. Bought corn, tomatoes, little cukes, blueberries, and ripe peaches. Dinner tonight is BLT and cucumber, with corn to come later tonight. Yum.
